@lsdlover hey friend

Lmaooo oh god, this is one of the best trip reports ever. I’ve read it on my own a few months ago and it’s hilarious hearing it read aloud but maybe even better reading yourself because of how crazy it is–you can scan back and connect everything that’s going on.

I was researching different poisonous plants and read a little about datura but it sounded dangerous and not like an experience I wanted so never paid it much attention. Then I’m walking up my front steps one day and notice these uniquely spiny pods sticking off these bushy flowers, and I knew it looked familiar. My mom had potted 2 “Angel Trumpets” right on our front porch as decoration in an arrangement with a few other flowers. I had to look it up to be sure and then I decided it was fate and that I ought to research it more and give it a try.

I don’t claim to be an expert but spent a fair amount of time trying to ID the plant and decided it was datura inoxia. I did a lot of research for a couple weeks and just kept it secret until I noticed the pods were beginning to burst. Then I scooped up some seeds and clipped the most mature pods. There were probably 20 pods per plant and at least 100 seeds in each; even more covered the porch. So it’s very plentiful, I still have some from that day in fact.

I ended up taking it about 4 times in different doses. Started with 10 seeds, then I think 25, 40, and 50. I decided 50 was comfortably pushing the limit for me and a couple friends noted that 50 was mild-moderate effects too. I only say that in comparison to how insane I know it can be, but it was still quite bizarre with 50 seeds. 700 that they took in that report I can’t even imagine. But potency is going to differ by plant, even by pod. The more mature seeds were a darker brown and most were an orange and the younger were yellow or lighter. We only harvested the orange or darker.

I wish I wrote my experiences down because it’s kind of hard to remember them all in detail now but the biggest things I can confirm are that it can make you hallucinate in a more real way than shrooms, lsd, or dmt can. One definite side effect is blurred vision. Toward the peak and comedown everyone noted blurred vision and for me in some cases it was really extreme; I think it also affects the hallucinations. Also it will dry your throat out like a desert. I would love to experiment deeper with this but I honestly don’t know if I’m prepared for more of that suffering yet. In a way though, I see it as a fair price and would gladly go through any pain for the kind of experience reported above, because it is a phenomenal little trick it plays.

The first time I took just 10-15 seeds I noted some hallucinations. I was alone in my room and pretty late at night. I took my socks off and then sat down to do something on my computer. I had trouble seeing the small icons and text and couldn’t find my cursor and got a little frustrated that my mouse wasn’t tracking as I moved it around. I looked down to inspect it and realized I was holding my socks instead of the mouse lol.

Later I crawled into bed with the lights off but I could still dimly see my comforter and stuff. Then I noticed this notebook lying next to my pillow which I didn’t remember putting there but I was too exhausted to care and just sort of lazily looked at it from the pillow. The stiller I looked the more clear the text became and there were lines and paragraphs that I could barely make out. It really intrigued me so I sat up to look closer and then it vanished. This happened a couple of times until I tried to trick it by not moving and pulling out my phone to shine a light on it from behind. I stared right at the page of text and turned on the light, then it vanished and I realized I’d been staring into the wrinkles of my blanket for the past 15 minutes.

So those were some interesting threshold hallucinations and it was more like that on the higher doses. On 40 and 50 seeds I could see and actually read lines of text that would pop out in the most random places imaginable. They were all over the bathroom floor tiles as I sat down for a poo and stayed there for a while trying to read them as they disappeared and reappeared in my peripheral or just faded in and out. In the toilet bowl there was 1 line that I couldn’t quite make out because it was typed on a thin strip of paper that was stuck against the side of the bowl, wet and transparent so the text appeared backwards. I stared at it for the longest time in awe because I knew by then it probably wasn’t real but I could see it 100%. I think later I discovered it was just a ring stain in the toilet bowl.

Text also popped up in all kinds of textures, like between the seams of furniture and the fabric of chairs. Most of my hallucinations were text and the few that I could read clearly were very interestingly complete jibberish. But it was arranged in what would appear from a glance to be real sentences. It was still english, but looked like: “Static don’t taurus botany blog, hide running cans quote capillary.” And on, even short phrases like “Speaker many? … handshake. paper many” Just total nonsense and I was in disbelief how it could be manifesting. I could run my fingers over it, look away, sometimes see the same thing, sometimes something new. Total insanity, that’s as far as I wanna go for now.

OH! Another kinda amazing thing is during the 40 seed dose I was alone. My phone lit up and I noticed my friend was calling me. I answered and heard his voice and I excitedly informed him what I was undergoing; I can’t remember what we talked about but it was a minute or two long conversation and he said he’d hit me up tomorrow to chill and see how it all went. The next day I was reflecting on the trip and I vaguely recalled speaking to my friend but something made me check the call log. Sure enough, there was no call received the night before. I called up my friend and he confirmed too that we hadn’t talked the night before but that he did intend to call me next day to chill, I told him about the fantasy call and it fascinated me to have had a real, convincing, auditory hallucination.

I also had lucid dreams every time I took it, which were all in the evening. So lucid in fact that I can’t believe it’s not widely used and acknowledged for that purpose. I never saw it connected with the lucid dreaming hype and never credited among the other lucid promoting plants. But seriously the dreams were perhaps my favorite part of the entire experience. They were way more detailed, at least I was lucid of more detail, and I felt like so much went on. My friends whom I was with were in a few of them, and on later trips they noted collective-dreaming as well. One of the dreams I remember most clearly achieving lucidity, I was dreaming I was browsing a forum much like high existence. And I was scrolling down the page and realized the text didn’t really make sense. And the more I read the more lucid I became and it was just like the earlier text that was popping up. There were all these imaginary posts in this imaginary discussion by imaginary people and imaginary avitars and was such a impressive, complete illusion but on close inspection was total nonsense.

Another dream I had I was being pursued by these ninjas or group of people trying to abduct me in my childhood house. I’m running around dodging them apparently and there’s a sense of urgency as I crouch behind the staircase. I can sense a climax and this enemy leaps over the staircase to face me and the adrenaline floods as I look to my watch and its a timer counting down :03… :02… :01… and right as I assume my head was about to be sliced off, my alarm goes off in real life and I’m awakened instantly; transitioned seamlessly, from that thrilling scenario into a dark, cool basement and my first thought is holy shit!? It was a powerful synchronicity and a hint at just how insanely precise our subconscious really is.

So while I had no intention of taking datura, I really respect it now and liken it to my Ayahuasca experiences in that it’s a mysterious teacher that I want to explore more with sometime. The two experiences are similar states of consciousness that are borderline dreamland. The transition to sleep is a very conscious one, you wake up feeling perhaps you hadn’t actually slept at all but only closed your eyes and continued having trippy, imaginative thoughts. All in all I found it a very humorous experience. I didn’t really believe the hallucinations people were reporting but it really can trick you visually, mentally and logically which is as cool as being entertained by a magician when you’re expecting it.

I also think it has a lot of potential if it weren’t for the side effects it would be useful for many different reasons if you can have a face to face conversation with dead or imaginary people, can be very therapeutic or informative. One thing that is over-rated is its lethality. The drug itself often isn’t what kills people, but indirectly to dangerous behavior while intoxicated. Also the side effects are not to be taken lightly, it’s a serious undertaking that some people just can’t handle and can run into heart or respiratory trouble. So I would just do your research and make sure you are healthy and just prepare yourself and it’s not any danger at all really. The difference between threshold, moderate, heavy, and too much are smaller with datura than most other drugs but not THAT small and a little research and common sense easily dismisses that threat. Start low and work your way up to what you can handle and see what happens.

“The drug itself often isn’t what kills people, but indirectly to dangerous behavior while intoxicated.”

I’m not sure this is true. There are at least 3 toxins in the plant including scopolamine, atropine, and tropine (I think). One of these has a very steep toxicity curve, meaning that at some level, you may be totally fine and have no effects, but doubling the dose can be dangerous. Going up very, very slowly in dose is wise, or finding someone who is familiar with a specific plant already and can judge quantities that way.

Yes when working with the pure chemicals I’m sure a little crumb too much could be a serious mistake. I tried a crude extraction on 2g of seeds though and got very little from it. I think it’s a lot easier to just pop the seeds though and it’s more safe that way since you’re less likely to mistakenly take 4-5 times whats necessary. But potency can differ so much, that’s why I stressed starting low no matter what, even I would restart at 10 again from a new plant. So with those simple guidelines I don’t think it’s a risk,

I was the fool ended up in the hospital after ingesting datura stem, leaves and root with some water one of the most near death experiences I have ever had the trip was lucid and surreal more so than any psychedelic I have tripped on. one excuse that I would throw out there was that I was drunk and my friend had made the concoction. long story short I lost my mind feel into a wall blooded my face paramedics came and took me they force feed me water till I pissed myself and on them woke up a day later couldn’t remember my name, birthday, etc. I was a fall risk for the next whole day . the first thing I asked for when I came around was a magazine because I didn’t know if I could read (I really couldn’t.) iam happy to say iam back in health and I can read again!!! this is a sacred and dangerous plant not to be taken lightly just cause you read the teaching of don juan does not mean you can take this experience in your own hands devils weed is a harsh teacher.

A fascinating plant, but too dangerous for me… Would need a way to accurately measure a dose and 2 trip sitters whom I trust my life with before ever thinking about it

I was given some of this when I was in berlin, seeds. I split what ever I had gotten with two friends, however I think I was only given enough for one as it didn’t really have any noticeable effects. This is supposed to be a serious trip though, the guy who sorted me out with the seeds said trips can last up to a week. I will be attempting again sometime, but from what I hear this is definitely not a recreational hallucinogen or for the feint hearted. good luck if your trying it man.
