How much did the USA spend on promoting a "War in Syria" (aka WWIII)?

I was surfing through the “English Club” website to take a few English tests before my ESOL Advanced English test and bang:

Yep, you’re right. This was a “Google Adds” section on the website.
What is intriguing about this is that there is no 4th option and answer No2 was correct.

It isn’t the USA, it isn’t Russia, so… I guess it MUST BE SYRIA!
What a surprise!

This is just too disturbing.
The things that are happening in the world today with the governments against the people is so public and obvious now and yet we can’t do anything about it.
It is really sad and it frustrates me.

They should just call it “Project Brainwash No. 962” and release it on CNN.
Wouldn’t make a difference. So sad.

“… the people ARE so public…”

(Fast typing mistake…)
Got to do it before the grammar-Nazis appear.

@Kaolite, The first thing I would do is confirm the origin of the ad? I doubt very much it was the U.S. government. First of all the question has an error, no one has claimed that WMDs were used to kill hundreds of thousands in Syria. Second the U.S. is the only country that has used atomic weapons to kill anywhere near that number, in the bombings of Hiroshima, and Nagasaki.
Not that there are not dangerous and elaborate falsehoods perpetr4ated by the government at times, I just doubt this is one of them.
