Human intelligence is a curse

 Anonymous (@) 7 years, 10 months ago

I don’t know why we evolved to become this intelligent . Only a small minority of individuals use their intelligence to achieve their potential. The rest of us either use it to exploit people or we try desperately to distract ourselves in day to day life. Even those individuals who do realise their potential, their contribution to mankind is still a form of distraction for them. That’s why you have to keep intelligent breeds of dog busy or else they become bored and destructive. We’re no different, it’s just that our methods of distraction have become so extensive that we call it “life”.

and what are you going to do about this realization?

Hahaha, whether or not I do anything about this realisation actually doesn’t matter. I’m going to continue to distract myself until my shift on this planet is done. I’m going to enjoy this shit and help other people with their shit

I find Nihilism quite boring. Dig deeper.

If you are suggesting that I give a theistic response, well then you’re out of luck. But one could argue that our ability to perceive reality to such an exaggerated extent is perhaps the universe’s attempt to understand itself. A collective consciousness searching for the answers to something which is long forgotten, extraterrestrials included. We are all of it. I guess then it’s not a meaningless life at all.

It is interesting to consider why we have the intelligence we do when thinking about the smart dog breeds getting bored and becoming destructive.

What is it we are supposed to be doing day-to-day to occupy ourselves, such that we don’t get bored and destroy ourselves and the world? Does the fact that this is the case point to there being a goal?

do what you love to do. and if you get bored, do something else. The only reason why we dont see this as an easy possibility is because everything costs $$. and most people dont do what they love or enjoy what their doing. I have a goal, and I have a hobby. When I do either of those things I rarely ever get bored. But with all of the stimulation in our society, its hard to focus on one thing without getting bored because we are constantly seeiking more stimulation. I wish everything didnt cost $$. this is 2013, yet we cant create an easy system to help eachother out so we can do what we love without working shitty jobs? seriously. If we created only the best, most efficient, fun jobs, then we could do more of what we loved and less shit work for other people. Be the change you want to see in the world and create the world we wanna see. I feel like the life given to us should be a chance to just play, not work. Call me lazy, but i think we could create a world where everythings accessible and free.

I feel like those who are intelligent know it, and its kind of like in natural selection, adaptation, and evolution, that only the smartest and the most fit survive. But in our culture, that doesnt mean being the best hunter anymore. Since we are no longer just hunters and gatherers..and we are now artists, physicists, teachers, doctors, athletes, etc. we have to MASTER our skill to become the best we can. And then kind of just make babies and raise like super humans. Like think about how backwards our society is. We appartently are the most intelligent life beings right now (so we think), but we really are. All of us… trees. birds. humans. we all survived and made it to now. so we biologically are the most fit for our environment as can be. But now, you don’t have to be fit to survive, just to be successful. So master what you love to do, and then we can evolve in to the best fit for our future. Look at all the areas of poverty and crime, they have little education and sex ed and theyre pop. is growing. Everyone deserves a child, but evolutionary wise, its kind of led us to a dumb nation. I feel like a lot of my generation is shit. Even my parents, people dont work out anymore, they dont love their jobs, they dont play, they eat shit food, like I wouldnt be surprised if humans just became totally unfit for Earth and relied soley on medication for EVERYTHING. to sure their 7 illnesses they have to take caffiene for energy and nutrient supplements and weight loss pills. I still think its good just the fact that we can acknowledge these things. That means we know what we want to see change in our future. People doing what they love, being intelligent with all of our resources we have and using them to spend everyday passionate about their career or life and to produce offspring that is even better than the last generation. After all, we are creators. We are a result of creation. Whether it be God, the God within us, a compilation of creations before, the accumulation of the art, music, feelings, and love that surrounds us. Everything is being created right now. Im creating this post. Im creating an idea in your head. that will be there for maybe an hour. but that will change the way you think, whether u agree, or disagree, I made a change in you. Im creating. And when I have a kid, Ill create that. And Also, IM so high now, sorry… but someday I think we will evolve to aliens. Like what we see as aliens… Big heads (from all the information we take in now), we will adapt to this. Dark eyes from the suns radiation, big eyes and small nose (beauty appearances) through natural selection, Thick skin from damage to UV and nuclear, and smaller bodies because we use them less, to make a smaller carbon footprint. And thatll be so far in to the future, that we will have developed some kind of time machine. and go back to the beginning to figure out what happened. then… maybe the rapture will happen or something. just a thought.

Additionally, who says intelligence must be used for good?

This depends on the personality, needs, will, environment of the person. Many so-called historical evil people were highly intelligent. Hitler, Stalin, etc. were not dullards IMO.
