If I gave you $100,000…

 Laura O’Connell Rapira (@lauraocrapira) 7 years, 10 months ago

… to implement a high impact idea or project or one-off event for the betterment of a country/society/group/the planet, what would you spend that money on?

PS: I am on a mission to raise $100,000 over the next 6 months for a high impact idea
PPS: I live in New Zealand

Make everyone in the world Lose The Game at the same moment for mental unity, learned global empathy through same thoughts as bulk of planet for as long as possible.

@lauraocrapira, All I can think about is making a green house to grow psychoactive plants.

If money really created unity and empathy I’d take it.

Hmmm, probably permaculture or something along those lines.

@lauraocrapira, I would start with a plane ticket to NZ and a motorcycle and a surfboard and go from there.

@lexovix, Man, you just made me loose the game!

@lexovix, Is this new to the site? I haven’t undergone The Game playing since highschool..

I would start a fund for having more intelligent computer systems in schools for research of the planet and our origins being opened to regular citizens and not just scientists. It won’t work lol

@lauraocrapira, I’ve been thinking about this recently. I think we would all be better off if we understood that the soul is real and that we’re here on Earth to learn from our experiences.

Some investigation into past lives and “life between lives” (the soul world or heaven) can be extremely enlightening and comforting.

I am thinking about starting an archive of past life hypnotherapy regression sessions, that would include audio and transcripts of sessions in a central database repository. There would also be anonymized information about the subject: basic info like age and gender, but also things that might be relevant like phobias and mental blocks they’ve had in their current life.

That way, individuals and researchers could sample a large body of information to make sense of it all. Ian Stevenson and Jim Tucker from UVA have been doing this for decades, but it’s all just notes and it’s not accessible to other people.

Something about the audio and transcripts makes it more inviting I think. Kind of like StoryCorps, but for past-life and life-after-death stories.

I would build a self sustained building. Much like an earth ship but instead of being a single home it would be a huge building where the people who live there also work there, but in reality there would have to be more zeros involved

If I could not keep the money for myself, I would donate it to some cause to do with animal welfare.

Purchase a large empty lot of land intended for commercial development, buy a bunch of seedling trees, and plant a little forest

@donjaime23, how much is a nature reserve permit? those trees would make mighty fine paper.

@rusty16x, building self sustaining houses for people who dont have them? pretty generous and an awesome intention. building houses for people with them? through donations? people are probably a lot less willing to help.

i understand that there needs to be initiative and a starting point somewhere.

but still.

thats just where im at with it.

@lauraocrapira, I’d probably try to start some kind of arts program to help foster it in people of all ages and give them the tools and the knowledge on how to support themselves through their creative endeavors.

…..or I’d buy a shit load of Medical Marijuana and spend my days doing nothing but writing, smoking, fucking, and hanging out with friends.

One or the other

@josephm, We are building an education centre for all people to be able to learn the skills they need to build their own house’s and lives without depending on some job they don’t want.

I think including everyone and anyone who wants to come to learn for free is valiant enough I guess

@rusty16x, its a good idea, and its awesome that its happening. hopefully it keeps its momentum.

@lauraocrapira, I heard in Italy, if you become unemployed you can have about 3 years of unemployment benefits, time to get a new job, but if you can get about 6 or so other unemployed people together you can ask the government for a lump sum pay out to kick off a business.

I would build meditation centers all around the world. These centers would be completely sound proof and completely free. They would just be places where people could come and meditate in peace.

I would make a film, because that’s what I do and I feel that it’s one of the most powerful ways of speaking to people at an emotional level in modern day society.

P.S. I also live in New Zealand.

@lauraocrapira, I’d create a non-profit oganization, and call it International Boycott, or American Boycott. The money would be used to create a calender for the coming new year. The calender would contain 12 months worth of scheduled boycotts against corporations, or other businesses that have been researched and indicate excessive greed, corruption, of ecological violations. There wouldn’t be enough money to print enough copies, so I’d use the rest to go on a fundraise trip to get donations from sympathetic organizations and individuals. Once I had enough to print a large number, I’d print and distribute them.
