immortality

Tine (@tine) 8 years, 9 months ago

i am looking for any theory: (1) you have studied or know about in some detail, or, (2) you have heard about,

i am even interested to hear about the dark stuff, so don’t hold back, and even just pointing in a context direction is helpful,

my idea is that ‘immortality’, or extending the lifespan, is a evolutionary pursuit, it is something we can obtain, and, i feel that one lifetime is not long enough to learn all there is to know,

yes, this is categorized as ‘fantasy’, but, look at the life expectancy from the 20’s compared to now and consider this as a real-life example of life extension through knowledge increase,

( Bonus Question ) do you know of, or know rumors of, any society where one might be found? secret societies would be a good starting point, though, again, really any context finger in a any direction would help.

everyone in the twentie’s still died though…

even the stars die mate, nothing in our universe is immortal, so why should we think that we deserve immortality?

we do not need to know everything there is in order to have a happy, fulfilling, and or meaningful life.

that being said, reincarnation bro! check out a book by the dalai lama. he’s mad knowledgeable about this stuff. good luck on your search! @tine,

i think immortality is a human concept uses to deal with the weight of our awareness that every human ever has died, and so will we.

@ancientmystic,

well, that’s why i put immortality in quotes, i meant more, life extension, not ‘not-dying’, and i don’t deserve it, i live life in a destructive way as of now, but as i shift more and more into who i want to become, one day i might be worthy enough to discover how,

and i think that long life is based on habits that extend it, and the effort put in,

if someone was a cpl centuries old, would he/she advertise this? nah, 1) bc of the effort they put into it, and 2) as you said, not everyone is worthy of it,

and if someone was a cpl centuries old, with our limited perspective and our filtered news context, would we ever know this?

and if someone was a cpl centuries old, would you not conjecture they would be well hidden?

@ancientmystic,

i have my doubts about reincarnation, it seems similar in concept to heaven and hell, ‘do good, or else’, and also a justification of the caste system, ‘o, your life may be that of a shit herder, indentured servant, but if you live a good life and do your job, you may be reincarnated into someone higher up the caste system’

@tine, i’m skeptical about any afterlife, as we would no longer have a functioning brain even if our ‘soul’ or ‘energy’ survived, so any experience thereafter wouldn’t compute into concepts we can grasp now.

I’m not sure. I wouldn’t say I want to die early, but I wouldn’t like to be here in my body forever. What about overpopulation? Do you think that, if somehow people can live like 200-300 years, for instance, the masses are all going to have access to that? That knowledge would be probably hidden or accessible for very, very few people.

[Hidden]
Tine (366) (@tine) 8 years, 9 months ago ago

@xetado, @ancientmystic, @ojai,

nah, i imagine if its possible, it requires an activation of the human immune system like what wim hoffmen demonstrated:

which means incredible mind power, meaning, most people could never discover it, my theory is based upon proven accomplishments and i posterize that we can activate our immune system using only our mind and when doing so, i also consider how we receive energy from the sun,

this is what i am going to try:

1. meditate for immune system activation
2. once activated, mentally open the pores of my skin to receive more energy from the sun during this is time
3. every day is a different part of the body focus, and depending on the day, i will focus all of the immune system/rejuv system + xtra sun energy, on that part.

Theoretical results: the focus points will be rejuvenated daily and this will slow the physical deterioration process, extending my life.

@ancientmystic,

agreed on the afterlife, though, i don’t think there is, but i can’t know and i hold that perspective lightly.

@ojai,

yea, science ftw, gonna read that again, know any good links on rejuvenating body parts, like a tail on a lizard?

Watch The Man from Earth. Great film about the life of an immortal. But a lot of people don’t seem to understand how long they will live if they are immortal. What I’ve dubbed the Jaded Effect is a huge part in this.

@tine, That’s only certain parts of reincarnation if you associate it with long term Karma. The reincarnation I believe in is you live whatever life you are given. Similar to the story “The Egg.”

Tine (366) (@tine) 8 years, 9 months ago ago

@flyingrhino,

thanks man, will do, i don’t want to live forever, just longer, we are just starting with computers, exploring the universe, but we’re prolly still a century away from anything space-related.

thanks for the reincarnation context, can you explain it a lil more?

@xetado,

–That knowledge would be probably hidden or accessible for very, very few people.–

agreed, and my guess, if science has an answer, the answer = $$, so a place to start looking for an immortal would be amongst the wealthy,

an immortal through the mind would probably be found in some isolated temple somewhere, i imagine mystics would be a place to start, this will be harder to identify, perhaps they can be identified through writing style of their wisdom,

@tine, This mainly comes from a combination of conversations with god and other sources. Basically, in life you are meant to experience, pure and simple, like the life of a banker, or a cripple, or a homeless person. The goal is to experience every possibility ever until your souls literally knows everything because it experienced everything. Once it achieves this, it no longer needs to incarnate. So, with this theory, any person has an infinite amount of possibilities for their next life. It gets more complicated with soul loops and range of incarnation, but I don’t take the stuff into much consideration. Those are around to explain how all souls stay on earth.

@tine, Science will have to be the catalyst…atleast I would think. I think you’ll find this interesting,

@tine, http://gimundo.com/news/article/scientist-aubrey-de-grey-claims-humans-can-live-to-1000/ The article is fine but watch the TED Talk at the bottom if you are more interested.. Dr. de Gray believes that the first human ever to reach 1000 years of life is already alive right now…

Also check out Raymond Kurzwail predictions.. In his book: “The singularity is near” (which I have read) he makes a lot of interesting predictions starting from the year 2010 up to 2050 and beyond

By sequencing the DNA in all 100,000 genes in the human body — that is, by divining the order of the four chemicals that make up the genes — scientists hope to treat diseases in much the same way that software engineers fix faulty computer programs: by isolating flaws in the code.
”Death is a series of preventable diseases,” said Dr. William A. Haseltine, chairman and chief executive of Human Genome Sciences

Last year i researched the hell outta the third eye and the next dimension and awakening and all that and it all boiled down to the subject of sexual transmutation, basically if you give up sexual activity and divert your energies to the mind you increase vitality and spiritual thinking etc, mastery could lead to longer life/immortality potentially. thats why ancient people lived for a few hundred years or more, they didnt waste there “energies” physically but rather spiritually. sexual transmutation is at the heart of pretty much all religious/spiritual/metaphysical theory/practice

@tine, Why do you want to live forever? Death is a natural part of life, the old making way for the new. That is a process that should never change or be manipulated. Also, do you really think that if the technology came around to live FOREVER, it would be available to just any average joe? Get real, it would only be available to those that are very rich and very powerful. Perhaps if the population was down to a few hundred million and the average lifestyle was actually sustainable, perhaps I could see it then. Otherwise it would just never work in our society. I hope it never gets discovered. I hope it’s not possible at all.
