Insanity and P90X?

Hitomi (@kidvisions) 8 years, 7 months ago

Has anyone of you done one of these programs?
I have done only one month of insanity and I lost 30 pounds, Well I started working out before that too…
I haven’t been leading a healthy life style lately and I want to resume. Is anyone interested in joining me?
Here is my blog where I usually talk about what I eat and about my healthy lifestyle:

I haven’t done either of them but I exercise every day and I eat 90% vegan. My protein comes mainly from quinoa, whole grains, nuts, and beans. I eat fish on occasion and organic eggs as well. I eat a lot of vegetables and a decent amount of fruit (bananas especially).

For those looking to lose weight, it’s really just about calories in vs calories out. In reality, you wouldn’t even need to work out to lose weight if you were to consume less calories per day than you expend.

But working out is still a must, because it boosts your immune system, builds muscle which increases your metabolism, and helps you live longer. A clean-eating lifestyle and regular exercise are both key to a healthy life.

It doesn’t take magical diets or magical workout routines. But if you’re overweight and wanting to lose some lbs., then do both. Or if you’re scrawny and wanting to add muscle, a weightlifting workout routine will definitely help.

Good luck to you and anyone else who is about to do this!

FYI, for those who wish to lose weight, it’s pretty important to know what your caloric needs are. Here’s a calculator that will help you determine that:

I’ve done both of them, and I would agree, they work!

My only gripe with them is that, it’s kind of similar to running on a treadmill. For instance, I don’t really advocate living a sedentary life, and then going to your basement to “work out” for an hour, let alone going to the gym to run in place for 45 minutes.

I would much rather see people being genuinely active. Riding bikes to nearby places, hiking, running, swimming, playing sports with friends.

But hey, it’s so much better than not working out at all, and like I said, it works.

@chodebalm,
Thanks for the reply. I actually lost the weight I needed to lose, so I am rather thinking about a sustainable healthy life style. I am very interested in the vegan lifestyle. Can you tell me more about it? Perhaps you could suggest books, websites, articles etc… ?
@alexmayle, They surely do work and I agree with you! During the summer (the period when I started exercising and was so determined to weight loss) I used to exercise outdoor and go running with my dad at 5 or 6 am :)

@kidvisions,

I have done both of them, they are great programs but they have different goals. with p90x you will be building more muscle. I am doing crossfit right now and I think is a great way to get in shape, the community in there is awesome, people always cheering you to go further. You should try it.
