Interracial Dating

Anonymous (@) 8 years, 9 months ago

So last week or so, I posted a video about a racist movie trailer. Turns out this kid has another video mocking pick up lines only, there is a twist. It’s a black kid hitting on a white girl liberally without any hesitation and both make no reference to race. So HEthens, I would like to know how you feel when you watch a video like this with interracial dating. By the way, the kids pretty funny I think I’ll subscribe; it’s like a social experiment.

Lol this guy is an awful singer!

So this is definitely my topic. I refuse to date the same race. I’ve dated my own race a couple times. But I find my relationships the most fullfilling when I date interracially because it is just beautiful to experience a different culture type in your love life. It’s not for everybody though. I mainly date interracially because I’ve had problems with past relationships with white girls. Could have been my fault. But the other relationships were just so much better.

@peaceriot, I’m a mixed girl, and the last guy I dated said the same to me! Haha, he dated a couple white girls as well but finds that interracial dating is more enjoyable for him. As for me, I’ve only dated white guys. Not sure why, I guess it’s just “my thing.” But I think you’re right about the culture aspect. Race and culture play a huge part in dating, and that isn’t a bad thing. In fact, it’s freaking awesome.

And also…when couples marry interracially, you get gorgeous mixed children. But that is just a bonus :)

Interracial dating doesn’t seem like a big deal to me…there’s a whole spectrum of colors and shapes and combinations out there. And personality is even more varied. Like what you like, I mean, I don’t think it’s any meaner than, say, wanting a blue or red or green car. It’s not like you hate the rest, you just like a certain combination of the colors and shapes.

I’ve heard that kids who are mixed also enjoy a genetic bonus to their health.

What? Who cares if he’s black and she’s white? Profiling social experiment? Is it just me or wtf?

@descarron, genetic diversity produces healthier offspring. This is generally true for all living creatures. Different groups of humans have slightly different genes, the mixing of the genes creates new combinations.

Keep in mind that ‘race’ is a social construct, it depends on how someone self-identifies, and it is fluid throughout time. Here’s a great clip explaining race http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPW0L9uTtK0

I’ve been in a multi-ethnic/multicultural relationship for the past 3 1/2 years. I can say it’s definitely been the most amazing relationship I’ve ever been in, mostly due to the incredible individual I’m with. The fact that they have a different background than I do has enhanced the relationship in several ways.

Sometimes we don’t see an issue the same way, or we might approach a situation from a different angle. When you really love someone, this love helps you to overcome and learn from your differences. It has the potential to really expand your mind in ways that wouldn’t be possible if you dated someone from the exact same background as yourself.

@lougrey, I’m a huge fan of interracial dating! However, I’m not offended if people don’t like to date outside their race. You want what you want. When I was in high school, I knew some white girls who’s fathers wouldn’t let them date outside their race. I thought it was ridiculous. Color is the least of my worries when dating a guy. As many have already said, interracial dating adds a little something that you can’t get from a same-race relationship. I never had sushi until I dated a white guy. Now it’s my favorite food. I also taught him some slang-Spanish words, brought him some of my parents’ authentic Mexican cooking, and even got him to do some salsa dancing. I do think it is a fun thing every person should experience. What’s life without a little diversification?

Plus my nephews are half, and they are just SO handsome!
