Is it possible to have a constant feeling of bliss/happiness/peace/joy?
Thoughts are not ours, and they come and go, both good and bad ones. When we allow our thoughts to be our master, we suffer.
My question really is – do bad feelings and negative states arise even when we are constantly doing things to make us stay in the moment/transcend thought/ etc?
I have a hard time articulating this so hopefully someone knows what I mean.
@qwuakeup, The truth is sometimes a little hard to swallow. Having only positive feelings is self-convincing, but also self-deluding. In some extreme cases a sign of an illness, but in most cases it’s the lack of self-awareness and escapism. It’s possible to have positive feelings only when you’re aware of your fears first and acknowledge them rather than hide them. Otherwise delusion can only lead to repressing negative emotions waiting forever to be released.
@qwuakeup, ahah please suck me into your world bahaha, some choose to see the negative and creative positivity within. Some choose to ignore the negative and seek positivity in everything. In each manor positivity is good, that is the moral of the story. Positive thinking in any manor is beneficial and if you’re able to think positively all the time kudos! i can only be envious as i am unable to relieve my mind from having any negative thoughts.
@fr3sh, What I’ve come to realize is that the mind will always have positive and negative thoughts. They are just thoughts arising, like clouds passing. You can choose to identify with it, which will bring you negative emotions, or you can be simply aware of them. No resistance. They are just thoughts.
My question is really that in this state of awareness, if you can achieve to always be in this state of awareness, will you be always be in a positive state?
I feel like there’s a piece of the puzzle that I’m missing and I don’t really know how to ask for it or what it even is that I don’t understand.
@fr3sh, Man , calm down and listen to yourself , try to see your anger right now from another angle , try to understand why you are anger. @qwuakeup you are on the right path my friend , we are both seekers , we are seeking something but we don’t quite sure know what. What i can tell you is , you cannot be happy or sad all the time , but you can just BE. How can you just be? Be conscious of every step you make , i mean be conscious when you move your arm your leg , everything , a feeling of emptiness and space will slowly slowly increase inside you. The next time you meditate , try to get to a point , where you fell yourself disappear , because you ARE everything.
@buanaoda, lmao what are you talking about, I’m not angry one bit. Im just saying its not possible for myself to rid my brain from negative thoughts (they happen). If someone hits me I’m going to be pissed off, its my rationale thought which aligns myself not to react inappropriately.
Please inform me how i am “angry”.
I meditate and understand what you are saying about we are seeking. as am i, I’m seeking for greater knowledge and existence for my own being and our nature on this earth. YOU ARE SO OFF TOPIC WITH WHAT YOU HAVE SAID, it really has nothing to do with having negative thoughts. What you said looks like a copy and paste out of a spirituality book.
It is possible to stay happy but not 24/7. Remember that for every negative feeling or situation, there is always a positive reaction. Remind yourself to keep at it through negative thoughts. We’ve all been conditioned to act and think a certain way since we were born, so in order to keep being positive you have to keep reminding your brain that everything will be alright. It’s human nature to get angry and upset but you lose all rational thinking this way. Its best to take a breath and take necessary steps to solve your problems. If you ever find yourself yelling or overly upset, take every complaint you just made and turn it into a positive solution. Takes practice but its a good way to stay on a positive path

yes- its called enlightenment, just observe the situation with no personal mental or emotional input (easier said than done)…
@ijesuschrist, Not sure if this is what you were referring to, but it reminded me of something I bumped into a while back:
these are my 2 cents.
you cant do it. in live there are good times and bad times.
everyone will get the same amount of good, and the same amount of bad.
nothing that happens its good or bad.
we percieve the things that happen as good or bad to us. but in reality, it just is.
this is something i learned when i got dumped by the girl i wanted to marry.
its my mind that makes it bad that she does not love and wants to be with me.
maybe this TEDTALK will help you
I think you should be very unconcerned and careless about yourself (feelings, physics etc) and your environment if you would like to rule out everything not-positive. And I think unconcerned and careless feeling is not a positive feeling…
Personally, I couldn’t feel positive feelings and emotions all the time. I’m such a sensitive. I feel a lot, positive and negative feelings easily.
@hhildur, yeah, thats also that, when we get to the level that small things can lift us off the ground with good vibes.
things that made you feel bad or sad before, now will also take a bigger toll on you.
the steaks got higher if i make myself clear
