Technology isn’t innately bad. Its the usage. Yes, its addictive; however, that is a problem with humans, not technology.

Technology can truly be amazing.

Yes, the spam bots are winning the war against moderators :p

I seen a recent quote, I forget the exact wording and who it came from, but the general idea is that we are living in a scientific age where pretty much no one has an understanding of science. It is a dangerous time, we can easily get complacent and lose touch, depending on technology so much and not knowing how to maintain it.

In fact; planned obsolescence has created this culture where it is cheaper to buy new than to get something repaired. This is a singularity event; the Capitalist system has gone from a powerful innovative strength to being reduced to a force counter productive to progress because its very own principle demands it.

Technology is really what we make of it. Its sad to see my friend face to face, texting/on facebook instead of having a conversation. But think of the scientific breakthroughs, the availability of information, this website…

@trek79 i guess you are spot on! Many people are sol engolved with the technology applications that they are forgetting they are slowley being steered by people that know allot more. This is a dangerous age, and we need to open this discussion on what we need but moreover want for our childeren. Do we really need the current education and grade system when knowledge is abudance when we need or want to learn.. what future jobs will there be and while we automate we should automate some of the leeches of the system.. like a pimple we need to put pressure on it..

On a shroom trip last night we were talking about how technology is taking over. I appreciate technology, but I do feel like its too consuming. I do feel that that physical connection between humans is being replaced by connecting via technology. It may or may not be bad. It could be the direction were heading in for evolution.

Slightly off topic, but still related to technology taking over, i feel like technology is heading in the direction toward thinking for humans. New devices are doing more & more & its becoming easier to have to do less. Like i was thinking about how Google tries to tell you what youre thinking before you even finish typing it. Or autocorrect on iphones. You dont even have to put the effort in to try to spell a word correctly anymore. As long as youre in the ballpark area, autocorrect will spell it out for you. Even With Siri, all you have to do is say what you want her to do on your phone & she does it. No searching on your own. The phone does the work for you. And for me personally, ive noticed ive started forgeting how to spell certain words. So I turned autocorrect off on my phone.

There are many positives to the advances were making in technology, but i do believe there are a lot of adverse effects to humans.

Technology is the future. Simple.
What we do with it is up to us.
Capitalism has finally run its course, like the systems before it the whole thing has become corrupt. It is no longer a free market, and the political system is becoming a joke.
They are moving to pass a bill giving corperations the power to monitor and control the internet:
http://www.avaaz.org/en/internet_apocalypse_pa_eu/?bZzINeb&v=34956
Which is an example of the corruption in the free market, for giving corporations the power to stop internet users seeing other competitors defeats capitalism and creates a corporate oligarchy.
Marijuana can cure cancer
http://www.collective-evolution.com/2013/08/23/20-medical-studies-that-prove-cannabis-can-cure-cancer/
Yet people still use chemo. In fact have you even heard of this?
Imagine if this were to never appear? Using technology against us.
I see automation as the future, i see a way of having a constant measure of the damage done to our world. Yet if we automate we can control it as well as measure it. We can create new sources of fuel, not oil. When someone says something like this first reactions are: Communist, conspiracy, it will never work.
Yes you have been subject to propaganda. Yes there were no weapons of mass destruction. We thought there were. What else dont we know, or what else do we think we know? Are there technological advancements we dont know about? Perhaps. The point is that while seemingly innocent in nature our system of patents and method of suing anyone who has a better product and might risk beating us our progress has literally ground to a halt.
They have techs far beyond what we are sold. Yet they keep them for next year. Lets put a feature in here, save that one for next year. Electric cars were first sold by general motors in the 1990’s 800 were sold. Great success, though people were disappointed at its range. Production was stopped, all were hunted down and destroyed. 20 years later, oh look we invented the electric car. The biggest one i see is Nicola Tesla and free energy. So instead of free energy you make us pay for it? Free energy was proven by nicola tesla and im sure it will pop up again later on. When all potential chargeable fuels are used up. Oh look we just discovered how to make free energy, how convenient.
The system we live in is a disgrace, corruption in politics, no competition in a supposedly free market. Wearing a suit means you automatically earn more money. Back breaking work now earns you nothing. The minimum wage not matching the inflation rates so you earn less each year. Well no you earn the same, it just buys you less because money is worth less each month which means prices go up which means inflation goes up with means prices go up.
I can see two worlds ahead of us.
We either embrace technology to the extreme and become it with implants (they actually have medical and personal record implants ready for use that track your position and monitor your heartrate to see if you are healthy) we could become like the movie surrogates.
Or we take a step back from technology and start living more socialist lifestyles where the production sector is automated and so we use ourselves as creative machines generating new ideas, following our bliss. I see the surrogate world as a world earning your lifelink through work. To be honest i can see a likeness between the path our system is traveling down and that of 1984 should have been labled 2024.

The next ten years are going to define the next 100 either we take a step towards freedom or we take a step back into subservience. Technology can either be used for good or for evil.
I can see a path that this world is taking and it makes me sad, angry and frustrated at my ability to do nothing
