So, I’m a college student actively looking for a part time job. My mind always wonders looking for new areas to browse in my job quest. Then I thought about HE. I was wondering what jobs did you guys have in college. Did it have anything to do with your degree? Did you enjoy it?
Also did you travel during the summer? Overseas, Europe, Asia?
I’m still in college but this is getting me through
I’ve also been a lifeguard, camp counselor, swim instructor, high ropes and rock wall facilitator, assistant pool manager and university office worker. These don’t really relate to my major but I enjoyed most of it, especially the stuff in nature and working at my school because I got to work in my department and get to know professors. I traveled last summer, did an archaeological dig for school credit. I also studied abroad last semester and am going again this upcoming semester. What about you?
If you are at any of those colleges let me know. I’ll show you a very college-oriented work experience that will get you a decent amount of cash while still working part time (as in more than minimum wage by a fair amount)
@emmaclaire wow that all sound like some interesting stuff. Just the right amount of fun activities outside. I would love to find something like that
@tangledupinplaid21 Sounds perfect. I have been looking for a hotel to work at. I live in a touristy area of St. Petersberg, FL. Something should be around here somewhere.
@lytning91 I go to Eckerd College in St.Petersberg, FL. Unfortunately that not on your list :(
When I was in college, I worked at a public library in the reference department doing re-shelving, helping patrons out, archiving new materials, a lot of random tasks. It turned me into a dewy-decimal whiz. I loved that job–it was really relaxed and, for the most part, I was able to pick my own hours. They’d even let me start my shifts before the library was open. It didn’t really have anything to do with my degree. I was just going to school for an associates in the liberal arts because I wasn’t sure what direction I wanted to take in life.
I worked at a berry farm for a summer, too. That was pretty cool.
