Just dropped out of College

Kosta (@kosta33)8 years, 6 months ago

stayed up until 1am last night studying for a test in sociology today. Half way thru my first class i had an epiphany and as i was looking around my classroom i felt a strong energy telling me school isn’t for me. Packed up my stuff, walked out before i even took the test and now my parents are kicking me out in May but i feel great and can really careless. now its time to travel:)

@kosta33, sounds like what I should have done but I was having too much fun drinking and sleepin around without parents telling me what to do. I also wasn’t thinking of the bigger picture and life as I do now so yea could have don’t things differently. Big ups to following your intuition bro and enjoy life because you only have one and fuck whoever tells you what to do. Gotta learn from life on your own or else you’re living for someone else not yourself.

@kosta33, I had that feeling a few years back. Today, while in the middle of a test that my graduation hinges on, I had a flashback of filling in bubbles in elementary school. I looked around at the class and thought, all of this was so worth the distress it caused me. Not saying I’m against what you did. Just saying I had that feeling before and I’m glad I didn’t act on it.

@kosta33, was it really that simple?

@kosta33, I’ve had thoughts about dropping out of school before, but then I started to realize that I cherish my education and am proud and fortunate to have one. I think education is important and is something worth getting. I find it foolish to drop out before you graduate high school. I think everybody should at least finish high school. With that said, I’m not criticizing you, because you dropped out in college. College isn’t for everyone. I salute your confidence and bravery. Just be aware of what the consequences could be in the long run, good or bad.

Congrats dude! I’m considering the same thing! What were you majoring in? What were your financials like throughout the semester?(Do you have savings or tranfered money from home?) I ask this because I don’t have any of my own money to spend and my father transfers it to me every week. I just felt like it was a hastle while I have finally realized that college is NOT for me!

@tangledupinplaid21, Thank you:)@creativenik, haha no, it wasn’t that simple to be honest, that was just my breaking point. I’ve been in college for the past 3 years, took a semester off in hopes of some motivation but i only ended up in the same spot and now being 21 i feel like i can either waste alot of time, energy and happiness going back and forth with school, or just focus all my energy towards my self and accept the fact that i need to take the risk and kind of fly away from the institutional forms of education. I have great confidence in myself and feel like if there is a will there really is a way, regardless if you have that diploma or not.@mmagg23, Education is great, institutional education is just a business in my mind and if your not planning to be a doctor, lawyer, engineer, scientist etc. then that piece of paper isn’t nearly as potent. I still continue to read and research to acquire knowledge but im not going to do it on the terms of society just because its the “norm”. School will always be there, time to seek the truth.

I’m 21 and never went to college, luckily for me I have a reliable income coming in for investing in my mom business. I’m planning on attending school centered around solar panels (Creating them and installing them), it’s the way to the future you know? I just have research more into the schools and make plans to attend them.

I have absolutely no interest being apart of society and prefer to spend my life traveling and doing epic shit like surfing, biking, jet skiing and such instead of being that guy who works as a cashier all their day. Too many people are caught in that trap, but it takes bright minds to bypass all that and live your life how you want it.

@grandkintaro777, atta boy, if school is necessary for you to reach your goal then im all for it! respect your dreams of living beyond the societal norms tho man, we need innovators and less people adding to the the giant wealth bubble of the 1%:)

@kosta33 good shit man, I dropped out from a private college in Virginia a year n a half ago. I left because of the beautiful days that I had to watch from inside a dull classroom, which we all know sucks. No debt thanks to lacrosse. Had money saved and started traveling. Started in Tasmania where my mothers family is from and worked my way up the gold coast. Currently back in the States though. A lot of job changes but never been better. This world can give you much more than a professor who is regurgitating info they themselves had to learn. << (Just in my opinion). My advice: TRAVEL(biggest one, even if its in your own country), READ(every book you can find no matter what it is, books make you smarter), and TALK(to as many people as possible, the older the better because of experience). "A man sooner or later discovers that he is the master-gardener of his soul, the director of his life." -James Allen. Good luck to all and keep L-I-V-I-N..

Damn dude that takes balls. Although I think after three years I would have just ground it out for one more.

@classicgreentree, dude that was great, i appreciate that post. and i agree 100% about the regurgitated info coming from professors and the tools of reading, talking and traveling. The ultimate question i had to ask myself is can i overcome with the odds against me? we shall see but im very confident as of right now:)

This is amazing. Good for you man :) I’ve been thinking of doing the same thing. I just have no clue of where to begin, but I guess that’s the beauty of it. You just do and live.

[Hidden]
Kosta (27) (@kosta33) 8 years, 6 months ago ago

@amtayl4, begin with the inner knowing. things will start to happen and fall into place to make you realize or strengthen your inner desire. stay loving, humble, compassionate and honest and i feel like the amazing power of the universe will be in your favor even if the odds of society/capitalism are against you. you will overcome.
