"A co-founder of Invisible Children, the group behind the “KONY 2012” video on alleged atrocities by an African warlord, was detained after a witness reported a man masturbating and acting strangely, NBCSanDiego.com reported."

I swear, life is starting to turn into one big, crazy tv show.

This is hilarious. Goes to show how big a part his ego played in this whole thing. So he was a self righteous hipster after all…

This is meaningless. nobody is perfect. a man getting arrested for indecent exposure has nothing to do with the suffering going on in uganda. It just seems like stupid slander to me and I don’t really see what it has to do with anything.

If the whole thing wasn’t a way to make himself look good, he obviously wouldn’t be upset that people aren’t supporting his movement, which I’m guessing is why he’s doing all this. If he was genuinely only interested in helping people, there’d be no reason to have a nervous breakdown because it wouldn’t be at all about him.

[Hidden]
Bobby (190) (@bobbylloydxd) 10 years, 6 months ago ago

I just mean that has nothing to do with the movement. It is purely celebrity gossip.
When I watched the documentary I could tell that the guy was not a balanced person. Very egotistical and extremist. He has extreme potential to do good things which he obviously is but it doesn’t surprise me to see him fall off and act crazy

Yeah I agree. Things like this are so complicated. Part of it could be for his self esteem, part for wanting to genuinely help. I’m sure he thinks it’s all the latter, but any time we do something nice for people, don’t we all seem to think the same thing?

maybe thats true, I’d like to hope not though. I would like to think that there are plenty of people give out of the kindness of their heart and expect nothing in return. But perhaps every act of kindness is peppered with selfishness, who knows

‘there’d be no reason to have a nervous breakdown because it wouldn’t be at all about him’ – hmm im not sure @mike, the campaign has recieved so much criticism and scrutiny in such a short period of time so it must be intense whatever his intentions are. at the end of the day he is just a human like you or i and that amount of pressure must’ve drove him that way, unfortunately. you say ‘thered be no reason to’ as if he woke up and decided to have one! haha

Mike Wuest (510) (@mikeyw829) 10 years, 6 months ago ago

hmm maybe I am giving him some unfair scrutiny. But it still seems to me like someone who was doing a selfless act solely for the betterment of mankind wouldn’t behave in this manner, and if the plan failed they wouldn’t consider it the end of the world, they’d just go on continuing to try and help in the best way possible. The word selfless speaks for itself: it’s not about you. At all. Hence there’d be no reason for him to go fucking insane over it.

I don’t really see why doing something good has to be selfless mike? I mean if it helps other people who really cares if you stimulate your ego? If this guy starts a movement that brings change to africa I don’t really care if he does it completely naked except for a superman cape.
We are human. We don’t have to feel guilty about feeling good after we help someone. Its actually a pretty beautiful thing that it works out that way so often.

I think intention is extremely important when it comes to things like this. You definitely shouldn’t feel guilty about feeling good. Just feel good. Feel how you feel, don’t try to hide it and be some enlightened hero . What I’m saying is this guy seems to be lying to himself. He’s acting like it’s selfless, putting up the appearance that it’s all for them. But it obviously isn’t. Just be honest with yourself. If he didn’t act all high and mighty I wouldn’t have a problem with it.

I think feeling good about doing something, that you’ve made someone else’s life better, is one thing. But when you feel good because of the publicity and the superhero mentality, that’s completely different. The former doesn’t make you go insane, the latter does. I’m sure he has both the feelings inside of him (nothing is black or white), as almost all of us would. Maybe criticizing him is hypocritical on my part, but it shows me something that I might need to change in me as well
