Let's get a little dark here

Hello again Hethens,

Not to get gloomy or bring any anxiety, but for fun, lets imagine that all the banks in the world suddenly collapsed & everyone lost all the money they had in them. From the multi-billionaires to the struggling college student with $8 in his checking account. FDIC insurance then falls thru because there is no money to repay everyone for the loss of their money. The entire system that everyone so trusted in is now fucked.

How would the world react to this? Would it be complete & utter chaos & every man for himself? Would society completely collapse & the end of humanity come? Would leaders step up & put their heads together to create a new system? Would we look at more indigenous cultures that still exist & try to pick up their lifestyles? Or would we restart the same system up again? Is this exactly what society needs?

I’m just curious as to what people think. I know its all imagination, but I think its interesting to see how people view the world we live in today.

Thanks for reading!

What a scenario, I’d be interesting to see that scene play out.

I would like to say that we would band together and drum up a solution, possibly resource-based and technologically orientated. That’s what I’d LIKE to say, but in the light of the waiting-for-any-excuse-to-throw-a-trash-can-through-a-shop-window mentality, a good number of our species would cause a shit storm. One by one services would more than likely shut down with a few banded together services like limited internet, some power pockets for electricity and localized food care. Think open-source world as opposed to capitalist world. Think free versions of software vs paid premiums but for everyday living. At first it would suck, but hey, worked out pretty well for Wikipedia. Then again, we’d probably eventually go back to “normal” because we were so love to fear change.

Completely irresponsible speculation on my part, but fun to think about :)

It won’t be every man for himself. We would still have all the tools and knowledge to not live like animals.

Try this documentary. It’s about the findings of an unsung whistleblower and the inevitable economic climate. Hahaha!

I haven’t lost complete faith in society, but I watch how people behave in our consumer society. People lose their damn minds over Black Friday sales to the point that people get trampled to death. And I used to be really into sneakers & that whole community & watching people fight, rob & riot because a stupid little shoe sold out is pretty ridiculous. These are of course only 2 examples & aren’t absolute truths across all people, but I can’t help but feel like people would go absolutely apeshit. Not all people, but a good enough number. There would be looting & complete chaos. Many people would react out of fear. I think we would eventually find a solution, even if it took a few generations, but the initial reaction would be catastrophic.

But do you think the masses understand that?
