Life without a job?

This will be my first post since joining HE so first off I would like to say hello to my fellow HEthans!

So in two months my girlfriend and I will be moving and I have found our main disappointment is, of course, the fact we are going to have to find jobs. Now by all means we are not the lazy type, we just know this life is not meant to be spent working an unsatisfying job but since life costs money we are forced to be enslaved by the 9-5 grind, so basically my question to all of you is how did you escape the 9-5 grind or how are you working towards this goal?

Do something you want to do. If you’re life is dictated by what you have to do or need to do just to get by and make money, you’re being controlled. Take control. Be creative. Find a way to make money doing what you want to do. It’s all on you. If you have a normal 9-5 job and it’s a grind to you, it’s your fault. If you aren’t being creative or driven enough to find a way to do what you want to do, it’s your fault. Especially in this day and age. If you have to get jobs in the meantime, drop the complaining. The least you can do is accept the things you’re doing. Anything else is insanity.

This requires a lot of hard work, discipline, and drive. It’s not about taking the easy way out and just seeking pleasure all the time while avoiding anything that is difficult.

Find a career not a job, sometimes jobs are easier to come by, sometimes you can work a job that will get you more experience in the field. Those will be much more fulfilling in the mean time. Good luck.

@mikeyw829, well in my spare time I make music as that is my dream so making time to try several business ideas is hard to come by, working online with music on the side would be awesome im just not sure what I would even do to make money online let alone enough to survive off of

@randysavagexx, if you have a vague idea, start pursuing it relentlessly until you find a way. No excuses

@everymorningbornfromtheashes, well I am an electrician so I have a career ahead of me, I just dont see much enjoyment in the future of any normal career

@randysavagexx, In my opinion then, a normal feeling, tactless career is just a job.

Careers are supposed to be enjoyed I believe.

Find out what interests you, maybe extreme sports risk management.
Maybe neuroscience, maybe something more self fulfilling like health care.
