Lucid Dreaming+THC

Ted (@nklemish) 8 years, 9 months ago

I’ve noticed, while under the effects of thc, it is difficult for me to achieve a lucid dreaming state. Lately, it’s been even hard to recall my dreams. I am curious as to anyone else’s thoughts on the subject and if anyone here has accomplished it. I’d like to think that the effects of THC would heighten my imagination and creativity within the dream.

@nklemish, did you read the post “can’t dream”. Justin makes this exact point on how THC prevents REM sleep and I think that is the source of my dreaming problem

@nklemish, I haven’t been able to dream lucidly or recall my dreams for a couple months (barely at all compared to last year!). Incidentally, I’ve also been smoking pretty heavily during that time lol. However, I decided to take a little break starting yesterday. I remembered my dream this morning, which could mean something. I’ll let you know how it goes in the next week.

With weed, I can achieve the lucid dreaming state if that is my goal. However, if I go to bed for the night without the intention of lucid dreaming as I drift off into sleep, I don’t have lucid dreams. I can only have one with the intention of having one as I’m falling asleep. For me, THC makes these effects even stronger. And though I don’t make a habit of it, I also have much deeper meditation sessions after having smoked a bit.

@tlrlittle, yes, I did read your post. It actually got me thinking I’m going to start a path the same as yours and take a break for a bit. I used to be able to achieve lucid dreaming. But, lately I believe my “use for sleep” has started to become a toxicity for my dreaming state.

@kkainoa, good luck to you! I will keep you informed of my quest as well!

@chodebalm, I agree with you. I used to be able to do the same, but forgot I haven’t been doing it lately or I haven’t remembered doing it. I can’t recall ever experiencing it while under the effects of weed. I have also had intense meditation sessions while on thc.

Someone needs to grow a strain of marijuana that doesn’t effect REM sleep. Or one that does in a positive way….Helps you lucid dream. That would be interesting.

@nklemish, all you have to do is take one single day off from smoking, and you will notice a significant difference in your dream state while sleeping

I would just like to add that I am in no way saying we should all stop smoking completely =)

But by making sure the THC is relatively out of your head by the time you would like to sleep, you guys will be good to go (I had a crazy dream 2 nights ago and was involved in “activities” up until 8pm)
