i don’t mean magic as in making fire appear in the palm of your hand or flying , none of that elder scrolls skyrim type of magic . i mean rituals , curses, astral travel . out of body experiences , summoning , etc . is all of these stories make believe like King Solomon’s ring ? etc . or is it all true and we have lost touch with our spiritual side?
I am not too sure whether or not the stuff you mentioned is real or not but I absolutely believe magic is real… if you meditate enough you can have out of body experiences and I think the law of attraction is kinda like magic too.. I think if you want and believe something enough it can be your reality.
I go to Pagan/Wicca events. They do all this sort of thing. I have been to 100s if not 1000s. I go because I love learning about religion and Pagans are the most fun and nicest people of all religions I have met.
I take part as much as I can. I do it more as a sort of “Drama” thing. I find the people and customs fun and entertaining.
No magic has ever happened that I have seen. Nothing that some of these people explain as “Magic” or “supernatural” has ever been noticed by me. I have seen some crazy things… but that is just people getting into the moment and experiencing group hysteria.
I have seen “tricks”. I have seen good “acting” and “clever” mind tricks… but nothing that some people say is magic. I have also seen people conned.
When you really look into these things you see that most are mind games or cons. Governments have invested billions into this stuff and found nothing.
Studies have been done and found nothing. No “REAL” evidence exists.
But! If it entertains you do it. Just don’t let it get to a point where your paying for mediums or letting it change you life. Many people take advantage of people who believe this. Many people who do have problems that they think this stuff will help with…. Its sad to see people get conned. Sometimes the CONNING is not money… it is the emotional damage and people taking advantage of it. I see all Mediums and some Tarot readers do this.
But magic? No… Go read Harry Potter! Its really good.
@dafunks, @soulallyxo, @piptherational, @zonetti, @josephm, see dafunks , your definition of magic and mine are seemingly different i think of how you explained yourself. magic to me isnt the old Houdini illusion type . magic to me is basically connecting yourself to the spiritual side of life. the “altar” state . how do explain “jesus” ? walkin on water , wine water blah blah , if you believe in him & robert monroe , king solomon , etc etc ., fuck all that harry potter witchcraft shit (sorry for the language ) i mean real deal magic . using the power of the creator to bend your reality . i think is very possible . ( only because i am a spiritual person) if they could SUPPOSEDLY do it back then , why cant we do it now? i think if you believe in a heaven and hell an afterlife, than there should be a reason to believe in ,”magic” … dont get the concept twisted ., this is not a dungeon and dragons meeting . im talking about the divine reality that you have never even imagined ..
@thatofficialguy, If you want magic, eat some mushrooms. If you want spiritual, try meditation. Otherwise, I think science killed the idea of magic the way you’re describing it. But hey, there’s a lot of stuff we don’t know. I think if humans were capable of any “magic” we’d know by now though.
Magic is like religion, it was used by people from earlier times to explain natural occurrences they’ve never experienced before and that they had no other way to explain. Now we have a system for explaining natural occurrences, and you’ll notice that reports of magic and people walking on water have gone drastically down in the last century or [email protected],
true true , i would sit here and try to debate . but its really not that serious . all i ask . is why deny it just because you haven’t experienced it for yourself? just because you cant bring the evidence doesn’t mean there isn’t any..i like to stay open minded @zentripper, you understand or is it sound like bologna..
my experience, which is infinitely limited, has shown me that magic is either an acceptance of another’s subliminal suggestions, or, all contained within the mind of the individual.
and this is based on the idea that nothing can effect our minds without us allowing it to, (acceptance), and the subconscious self is largely unknown and unfamiliar to someone who has never done psychedelics or meditates, leaving them unarmed to recognize what is ‘magic’ and what is just their mind.
@thatofficialguy, Ok. Well I guess your version of Magic is different to mine. Your is Magic that you have no evidence for. I guess the topic of this was a big of a lure as your the only one who knows what magic is to you. You tell us were all wrong.
Magic is to me is something of fairy tales. It is not real but amazing to think about. Lots of what we do now would be seen as magic in your Jesus timeline. I do not believe he did any of the things you stated. I believe like most fairy tales it is just amazing fiction.
if you wish to believe in something that has no facts, evidence and has been proven beyond all doubt then go ahead. Many people believe in such fairy tales so your in good crazy company.
Me, I like to read about Magic and myths I also love to read about things that could possibly never to true apart from in Mans imagination. This is why I love reading about Religion.
@tine, very interesting theory . i have a strong belief of this too . that your mind is what defines reality for you . as i always wondered what does a blind person see . or does the deaf absolutely hear nothing? ( off topic). but what i think of “magic” at this moment . is that its there. we once knew how to use it . but the way we use it has made it so we cant use it . basically it has been taken away from us ., what makes me wonder , is why would our ancestors lie? or have they been mislead? who knows?
Aleister Crowley: “Magick is the science and art of causing change to occur in conformity with will.”
@dafunks, i apologize if i were implying that you guys were wrong . i meant simply to say . that the fairytale magic most on this post is referring too is not the magic i am talking about . im not very good at explaining myself because i am still young . (not a good enough excuse) but i thought you would get the glimpse of it when i referred to “skyrim” a popular video game .. me i play on both sides of the field . i can choose a team . & i cant take being a fan so i continue to switch jersey’s and play both sides. when i refer to “jesus” i use him as an evidence tool. i have no proof of these occurrences either what puzzles me . is that we both have no evidence that states this “magic” to be fiction or non-fiction . and you deny . while i say what if . what if. you must be a atheist or something similar . look at “magic” through a different perspective instead of hocus pocus then make an opinion dont try to state a fact . what i do is merely open up the possibilities by questioning like every other human being . am i right no , and am i wrong no. neither are you or anyone else. do some research on “magic” the origin . you will see it all falls back under this so called “god, creator, ” but until/if the day “one” comes and explains everything why not keep an open mind? and experiment for yourself.. has anyone ever tried summon a “spirit” of some sort . anyone ever tried to channel themselves to a different realm? every tried to mix common elements and material on earth to say create a “potion” etc. PLEASE DO NOT GET ME MIXED INTO HARRY POTTER THIS IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT …
@thatofficialguy, It is not different. Harry Potter is as real as all the other stuff you mention. You say:
“has anyone ever tried summon a “spirit” of some sort . anyone ever tried to channel themselves to a different realm? every tried to mix common elements and material on earth to say create a “potion” etc.”
Like “Spirits” are facts. You say “Different Realm” like these are facts?
Like I said in my first reply, I have and still go to Pagan and Wicca events. At these they “Channel Spirits and Gods”. They create Potions (This being the main part of Wicca). They try to control elements.
They do this at all of the events I go to. I have seen some crazy things… nothing Magic though.
I have also been to many “Healings” done by Christian Healers (Famous and not so well known healers). No one has ever been healed.
Nothing I have seen has been real or Magic in anyway. The problem is that most people who go to these already believe. So anything they see is what they wish to see. They WANT and NEED to believe these things so they see it as Magic or Powers.
Just because I cant prove something does not exist does not mean it does. I can show you this.
Prove that Hogwarts does not exist! Prove Lord Voldemort does not exist. You cant do this. You cant prove something does not exist that never existed in the first place.
If people followed your logic we would still believe in Fairies and Elves (Some do). We would still believe in Thor (Some do) and Goblins (Some do).
Fairies and Goblins have the exact same evidence as your God and Magic that you think is real. None can be proven untrue… But tests have been done and nothing has been proven.
If Magic was real do you not think people would use it? Do you not think people would have got Power over us with it? Do you not think people would be raising spirits? Talking to spirits?
No, instead they charge a fee and do these things in tiny clubs. They exploit people who are easily manipulated.
Being open minded does not mean we have to believe fairy stories. Being open minded still means you use logic.
@dafunks, hmm i cant really cant comeback with anything lol i seem to contradict myself every time . & please dont get misinformed . i never said i believe in magic . the whole post was for anyone who can help gather some information on this “magic” . what you have said i understand fully . my state of mind has not changed but it has only made me wonder why doesnt it work lmao .. an open mind has to think logically because it had to figure out how to open the door. my thinking of magic did not come from any fictional movie or book of this time . (for as long as i know and have been told) with countless research . well i might be contradicting myself again because who knows about these books.? and when they were originally created & if these stories are true . & yes i have wondered why, (if there is magic or if we once could harness its power) why isnt it used today , . i would love to go on& on & on & on but unfortunately my sober mind at this time cannot think of any defending response, hopefully when i gain some more evidence or experience some more experiences . we could debate on this some more lol … so i ask you . what made you continue to go to these meetings? and what interested you about them . could you explain some of the things you saw or experienced? were you once a believer who got scammed and tricked. & i will ask have you ever considered that the people you were going to , these teachers , so called experts or whatever their names they use for themselves may be . have been a fluke from the beginning and their intentional intentions were to deceive & lie . meaning no matter how much that person in the room believed it wouldn’t work because the main source did not believe . ive heard that one negative force in your presence could interrupt whatever you were trying to do . & last but not least , why go to others and seek advice and training & when theirs’ does not succeed you give up. have you ever tried any of these things alone ? in your own spare time . connected with your inner self or spirit or whatever you want to call it .or do you simply not believe in entities and a chance of there being another astral state?
hello. seeing as though life has yet to be explained on a creation standpoint, everything exists “magically” we’ve just gotten so used to it that we forget (besides when we talk deep or take drugs) how beautifully weird everything is. now, i believe fire can come from peoples hands, if you mean metaphysical energy that causes intense discomfort to what it’s directed at. conning people is an attempt at manipulation, which i define as a method of control not based in innocence. i contrast manipulation with influence, i would say hitler was a manipulator because he used fear tactics WITH spiritual approaches, and the buddha or jesus as being influences because they were modest enough to say they were peaceful – which is a very difficult lifestyle to keep up, always has been. so i’d say that without the need for evidence, people are able to do miraculous things on a daily basis, things that are a result of humbling yourself to abide by a universal order. not one controlled by single influential character, but a respecting of all humans trying to understand the universe’s secrets. magic is everywhere, it’s like art and science, it is everything, or a way to see everything.
@triplemind, you basically just said what i could not say to save my life, thank you . maybe thatll help others understand but what i mean by “magic” you just defined it so well! that ENERGY that is within all of us . is the magic im talking about . the ability to hone your senses and concentrate on one thing . i noticed that if you believe in this you are considered crazy or insane , especially if you’ve claimed to have done things people would only imagine . they say if you can imagine it you can create it.
@thatofficialguy, I get asked why I go to these Pagan ceremonies a lot. People who know me know I am an Athiest and wonder why I go.
I go because I love to learn about religion. I find it an amazing invention by man. The stories of Pagans are so fantastic. I relate many of them to books or games that I love. I play Final Fantasy games and some of the Heroes I feel I know… This is like many of the Pagan Gods I read about.
I find Pagan believers to be the most open people. They do not judge like many religions. They welcome anyone and do not try to convert. They put on a show! They do some crazy things (Crazy in a good way) and make it exciting. Most people view Pagans like you see in Movies. remember most of these American movies are made by Christians so do not paint Pagans in a good light. I have never seen Animals killed or anything sacrificed.
Most of the ceremonies involved people calling forth a God of that season. They call them and make an opening circle. They have each element involved some how.
If it is a BIG ceremony then you have dances and food involved. You will see potions and home made items being given out to visitors.
I have seen people who say they were overtaken by spirits. You normally find out that they had taken a “potion” that has drugs in. You see people who can “control” fire… well I see these same things done in Vegas .
Magic for many Pagans is not what we would call magic. It is effecting the world around them. They call “relationships” magic as we effect each other in ways we can’t explain.
But, my interest is more of a social thing. I love interesting people. I find Pagans and outlandish people inspiring. I may not believe what they do… but if I like them as a person then it does not matter.
Try reading up on Pagan gods. Read about Egyptian Gods. If you do not find them interesting then maybe you wont understand my interest… but if you do then I am sure you may see why I am intrigued.
The reason I go to Christian Healings is something different. I go because the people who do them exploit people. Telling someone who is ill that they can be cured and charging (Or even if its free) is a sick thing to do. People place their hope into these people. Some even believe they are cured to find out it did not work… Then they are told it is THEIR fault because they did not have “Faith” in it. Sick. Some do not get medical helps because they are told “Prayers will cure them” or “Healing hands will cure them”. This is evil and sick in every sense of the word.
“meaning no matter how much that person in the room believed it wouldn’t work because the main source did not believe . ive heard that one negative force in your presence could interrupt whatever you were trying to do”
this is used in many Spirit readings. This is so they can blame people for their lies. How can you prove that someone else did not believe? You can’t… so it is used.
All of these things use Cold Readings
Check this out:
I was once a Christian. I was raised strict until my mother left the Church she was with. After this I was still raised Christian but was able to think for myself.
I quickly learnt that most of the things I knew were fairy tales. They were just things I was brainwashed to believe as facts. It sickens me to think about how many children are mentally abused like this and it is seen as Good…. it is crazy. I am now a Atheist and happy. I do not need lies in my life. I also do not need to believe in fairy tales. I love fiction and fantasy stories…. But I do not need to believe sick stories like the bible and other Holy has.
I do NOT believe in anything like a Ghost. I believe when we die we die. No Soul or power lives after us. No Heaven and no Hell.
You die… Thats it. Its scary… but just because it sucks does not mean its untrue.
This is how religion works. Death is scary so if you believe in something and follow its rules they tell you you do to heaven…. Its a great business idea! No one can prove you wrong as the people who die die… so in the minds of the gullible that is evidence enough.
Look. I can see that you have an open mind. You might have been brainwashed like many people have in countries like ours.
Learn what a fact is. Read up on things like this… But by reading on websites that make money from these things you will not find facts.
Magic is amazing. I love to see tricks and magic done. I am in owe of these people. I love street magic most. I have a friend who works in clubs doing magic. He shows me some stuff and I love it!
I know its not real… I sometimes pretend it is… but I know its not. Its just a show…
