Magic Mushroom Grow Kits?

 Blubl0cker (@jbc3817)8 years, 2 months ago

Okay so I just moved and, needless to say, my substance connects did not move with me. All I really want to do is trip. I have been looking online for some grow kits for mushrooms but I am skeptical as to what I should invest my money in. Has anyone had any experience with buying grow kits or recommendations?

I’ve been doing research lately on it. It seems the best is to buy simple supplies- vermiculite, mason jars, spray bottles, ect. on your own in person. The only think that needs to be bought offline is the spores. And buying all your own supplies greatly reduces the cost.
Let us know how it goes!!!

@iluvdamusic, Do your research it will save you so much time. There are good tutorials on youtube and erowid. Earth’s Tongue are good for spores. Lots of fun and very rewarding especially if you save your own spore prints and create your own gnome. It’s a lot easier than you think. Good luck and happy trails.

shamanic-extracts.com has some nice grow boxes

You can definitely grow mushrooms quite easily by buying grow kits online. I know a few friends who have done it successfully. Do some research online.

You can also extract DMT (not that difficult) or make Ayahuasca (very easy) or buy some Peruvian Torch (Mescaline)… All legal online (check again to be sure because the law can always fuck you over but I doubt they will).

Good Luck.

@jbc3817, @iluvdamusic,
Don’t buy the grow kits.. It is so much easier, cheaper, and mor enjoyable to do it all from scratch. Well, mostly from scratch.
I’ve successfully produced 1xx grams on my first attempt following the method in the link below; though, I doubled the recipe they do in the video. I had done much research prior and this is the most cost effect and efficient way for newbies to yield.

I purchased my spores/syringe from spores101.com with no trouble.

All the supplies required for the whole procedure can be found at a homedepot or similar store. Except for brown rice flower, of which can be found at any large grocery store or a natural health food store.

From start to finish (dehydrated mushrooms) it me a just over a month.

It is a very enjoyable experience; almost as enjoyable as consuming them :)

Furthermore, one 10cc spore syringe is good for 10 250ml mason jars. If you have any questions on the matter feel free to ask me. I also highly recommend checking out the website/forum shroomery.org. There are a lot of very knowledgable people and mycologists there that are eager to help newcomers.

Thanks for starting this topic. I am also going to give it a shot.

@alanwatts is on the money.

Grow kits are stupid expensive, and usually dont perform well.
Growing mushrooms is so easy its retarded. You can get everything you need at walmart for less than $30, and then you just need spores which you can get easily from reputable online dealers, or find a local grower to hook you up with a few caps, or find some wild shrooms to harvest spores from..

Just use the PF-Tek (word for word, its easy, theres no need for shortcuts) And I like to add a little brewed coffee to my water when mixing substrate. I have gone from Spore Inoculation to having enough shrooms to trip pretty hard in 27 days.. And got over 3 dry ounces from that grow, all from 8 separate 1/2 pint jar sized cakes..

@alanwatts, Thank you for this!
I’d like to ask did you produce 100+ grams of shrooms wet or dried?

@alanwatts, Thanks for post! Thanks everyone for posting I’ll definitely post back once I get it going to let everyone know how it went!

@stefan, If I recall correctly it was 132g dried, very dry like crackers. This was ten 250 ml mason ball jars. The narrow jars work too but it takes a bit longer for the spores to colonize in the substrate.

@alanwatts, Wow. Fantastic. You just put me on a mission.

@alanwatts, hey there. i have been gathering supplies according to the tek you shared. i have a few questions. first, does it matter what size of jars you use? how long do you need to let the jars cool after sterilization before injecting the spores? and after the spores are injected should i cover the holes in the jar lid?

@kahlib, Hey, the larger the jars you use the longer it will take for the mycelium to colonize the substrate. Using a larger quantity of smaller jars will produce yields faster. Make sure that the jars are not tapered. Is tapered the right word? You want the cake to be able to slide right out upon putting it into your container/environment.
I’m not entirely sure if the jars have to be room temperature prior to injecting the spores but to be on the safe side you may want to. I don’t imagine it could be a problem though. A quick check on shroomery should provide you with an answer.
Don’t cover the holes, it’s necessary for some gas exchange. The dry verm layer wil protect against any potential contaminants.

ive also looked into this as its extremely difficult to get that stuff here in NY. But even after you purchase everything you possibly need online….then where do you go for the spores? the same guy that can just sell you a 50 piece of shrooms? might as well just buy some. unless somebody knows where i can find this myself! lemme know ;) very curious. i dont wanna go picking random shrooms in the forest either and take something else by accident. i wanna trip, i dont wanna die just yet lol.

@tweibaby they really sell the spores online? can you maybe suggest a reputable site?

If anyone is a successful grower, I’d gladly purchase surplus ;)

Matthew (16) (@tweibaby) 8 years, 1 month ago ago

@seeker88

As the spores contain no psilocin or psilocybin, they are perfectly legal to own and sell. They are “for study under microscope only” as once intent to grow is determined, it becomes drug manufacturing and is illegal.

I would list websites but would hate to bring legal flak to them if any LEOs were to see this post. But if you go to shroomery.org (I am also a member there) you can find everything you need to know. And the site has lists of reputable dealers of spores and mushroom cultivation supplies..

I am actually growing oyster mushrooms now to sell at my local farmers market.. Its a pretty fun and rewarding hobby as it is..

@kahlib

After sterilization let your jars cool for a full 24hrs.. They may not always need that long to cool down, but I cannot tell you how many times I have seen grows fail to colonize because the jars were still too hot when they were inoculated.
I ALWAYS give it the full 24hrs…

Grand Kahlib (76) (@kahlib) 8 years, 1 month ago ago

@tweibaby, this info would have been helpfull about 3 days ago but thanks, i’m sure it will save me some future failure. anyway, i inocc’d up 3 days ago (the jars were cool to the touch but i had only waited a few hours). anyway, how long do you think it will take before i know if they took? should i be seeing mycelium already? one jar has tiny lil’ white granules, but i don’t know if this is just the rice flour.

[Hidden]
Matthew (16) (@tweibaby) 8 years, 1 month ago ago

@kahlib thats unfortunate, but you may get lucky. I usually see the first signs of growth within 3 or 4 days, but I would hold onto the jars for 2 weeks before deciding for sure. The first growth always looks like cobweb mold at first, but then gets thick and white after a few days..

Helpful tips;
1- If jars show any discoloration (black,green, brown) DO NOT OPEN. the mold will infect your grow room and possibly contaminate other jars. you will have to do a VERY thorough starilizing.
2 – After settling on a TEK double the amount of spores in each jar. I have never had very good luck with online suppliers. If you double it you can see more results faster therefore minimizing a chance for contaminates. Then make a spore print, scrape the spores into distilled water and suck them up with your sterile syringe.
3 – look at several TEKs and do plenty of research first. My first time I rushed into it and ruined everything… Very discouraging!

Good luck! Please keep us updated
