Measure of reality

Shouldnt the evidence-base and theoretical-groundwork be a better measure of reality than ‘how good or great or wow’ it makes one feel?! I realise am proposing a kill-joy concept. But thats the very point. If reality is whats there, something which we are trying to figure out with our limited senses, cognitive biases, and ceiling to understanding (i can solve relativity, but i dont yet understand it, just a point in case), then the former is in a better position to enable us reach our goal.

Now something against making one ‘feel good great or wow’. its a circle of logic. its lik sex. its wow and you wana do it time and again. no head or tail to it. ergo, this is not a sufficiently able and maybe not even close to being a capable tool to figure out reality. and many are prey’s to its alluring seduction!

My limited experience over the last some 6 months on HE has been that we here (including myself not very uncommonly) indulge in the latter and discuss them in profusion. Though now and then, there have only been glimpses of the former. Is it a healthy tread? Were wil it tak us?!

“evidence-base and theoretical-groundwork be a better measure of reality”

You will never really know until you experience whatever it is.

Nothing, absolutely nothing, that goes on in my head is real. My physical reality is what my mind tells me it is as it interprets the information it receives from my physical body. My physical reality can change in a heartbeat, all I need to do is go to sleep or ingest some substance – or even more dramatically – sustain some kind of brain damage.
