Morning routine
Let’s talk about morning routines. A good morning routine is a key habit of a master. How you begin your day determines how the rest of the day goes. A great morning routine leaves you feeling grounded, refreshed and focused. A great life begins with a great morning. My routine is:
7:00 Wake up. Make breakfast, an awesome smoothie with almonds, coconut milk, blueberries, various other berries, hempseed, protein powder and some other stuff.
7:15 Take care of oral hygiene, shave and pick out some clothes.
7:30 Tibetan rites, 6×21, followed by ~15 minutes of meditation. After that I go out for a run, and then take a cold shower.
8:30 Review my goals and set the coordinates for my day.
It makes it very easy to stay on the right track, and it totally removes all wasted days from my life.
What’s your morning routine? And why? Let’s discuss the shit out of this stuff.

Awake by 5, sometimes by 4:30, to no alarm. I move to the floor and stretch, and recently started doing the Five Tibetan Rites at that moment. Then I put on some music and check my email and such. Wilco’s music is an early morning staple. Or Shpongle.
Cold Shower, Floss, Brush, Tounge Scrape, and gargle in that order. Garden of Life Raw Meal replacement, pack my lunch for the day, usually a salad and fruit, sometimes a can of line caught tuna or guacamole if I have some made.
Meditate for 10-15 minutes, and walk out door. 9-10 I get clothes ready the previous evening, or toward the end of the week it’s casual here, so I’m putting on jeans and t’s mostly.
@alexa Sneakers? Don’t you mean gas mask?
@Joris My daily goals are usually along the lines of “Kick the workout/meditation up a notch,” “do some market research,” “call a friend/girl and do something awesome,” “read through a whole damn book twice” or “write new monster material for my blog or for HE”
@Josh Make sure not to take a cold shower too shortly after doing the rites, that will ruin their effect.
I usually get up, drink a glass of hot water with half lemon squeezed into it, spend time in the bathroom doing dental stuff, and then pop in some headphones while getting ready. My main event would be some breakfast either home or on the go because I have a super high metabolism and if I don’t eat then any pressure will cause me to become a TOTAL GET OUT OF MY WAY DEPRESSIVE BITCH until noon.
Sometimes if my morning is free I lay in bed thinking for a while and savoring up the event of waking up from some strange dreams I had.
@Josh Then you’ll be all sweaty and stuff. I think 50 minutes is the time that is needed for the effects to ring out, I’m not sure but it’s something like that.
@alexa That’s actually a pretty great way to step your cardio up. It’s a part of army training and I’ve seen other people do it too. It has the same effect as high altitude training.
When I worked demolition I wore a breathing mask almost all day (concrete, rockwool and asbestos in the air everywhere) while running back and forth, up and down, with buckets and barrels of concrete. I can’t believe how quickly my cardio capacity improved. You condition the body to make the most of the little oxygen it gets.
Why haven’t I thought of this, I must get a mask and use it for exercise.
@manimal, i’m interested in the tibetan rites. what is eye of revelation/fountain of youth?? books, websites…??

I found the original version online about a month ago. I’m trying to hunt down that link, and if I do I’ll post back. Otherwise the above link will do the trick.
Hello guys, this is my morning routine i devised from looking at your answers and matching them with the needs of my body and mind. I would appreciate constructive criticism ;)
So i go to sleep when im sleepy and wake up at fixed time early morning (thank you jordan :)
1. I wake up, take a few deep breaths to fully experience this conscious state
2. I go to the bathroom, clean my face and hands with cold pipe water and pi-pi if needed
3. Drink water
4. Skygaze time, i take few minutes to admire the Universe :)
5. Workout/ Five Tibetan Rites (currently have too small of a room to do the first rite so i do regular workout haha but im moving soon)
6. Pranayama to establish my breath and feel more mindfull
7. Meditation
8. Setting my daily goals (currently on paper but i plan on downloading one of those planer applications for pc)
9. Cold shower/Shave
10. Eat fresh fruits
11. Drink water again followed by deep breathing and positive thinking about the day ahead
12. Ready to rock :D
Due to a recent helter-skelter schedule I have not been following my morning schedule. But It (usually) goes like this.
6:30 AM – Wake up, take 10 deep breaths, get out of bed, 16 oz of water, turn the alarm off, 30 seconds to one minute cold shower.
6:35 AM – 20 minutes of yoga/meditation
7:00 AM- Walk or jog for 20 minutes
7:20ish AM – Cold shower
7:30 AM – 5 minutes of stretching
7:35 AM – Breakfast
7:55/8ish AM – Review my agenda for the day/write down last nights dream or current thoughts
8:15 AM – RULE THE WORLD……or something like that ;)
@zenkoala, Well, it’s hard to give constructive criticism when we don’t know your goals and situation or your reasoning behind the routine.
Sounds pretty good to me in general though.
Just one piece of advice, if you’re gonna use planning software it’s better to keep it on your phone so you have it with you. Also lets you set reminders and alarms which makes it easier to get in the groove.
Thinking in terms of time can be a major trap, letting a device take care of it instead gives you more headroom and focus.
6:15am i wake up. Get out of bed & take a shower.
6:40am after getting out the shower, i put some comfortable clothes on & meditate for 25-60 minutes
Around 7:30am: I stretch. Mostly legs, stretching out my hamstrings, groin, hips, calves etc. do some squats & sit ups/ planks.
8:10am i eat breakfast.
8:30am get dressed for work& brush my teeth all while dancing & listening to music.
8:55am walk to work
I found that my days are so much better now that I’m waking up because i want to. Waking up because I’m alive. Rather than waking up because I have to go to work. The day sucks when the first thing you think about when getting up is work. Fuck work. Lol morning routines are so important.
Wake up, lie in bed for a while if I’ve got time and focus on happy feelings. If I’ve got more time I might try and lucid dream.
Drink water.
Yoga.
Get clean, get dressed.
Sit in silence or read for 15 mins to an hour.
Coffee or tea.
Music, and sometimes a little dance (especially if I’ve had coffee).
Internet.
Grab some fruit on the way out the door, or if I don’t have to go anywhere I’ll cook eggs or oatmeal.
Really love this thread. I usually have a 15 minute gap in my morning routine that I never knew what to do with, definitely got some good ideas though.
Heres mine:
An hour before my first class: Wake up and meditate for 10-15 minutes
7.15: Wash my face/start oil drawing
7.25/30: Eat breakfast.
7.30-45- twiddle my thumbs until I leave for class.
Definitely gonna start star gazing, Tibetan Rites and visualizing now though
06:00 I am brutally being awakened by my alarm clock. I turn it off, still half-asleep and regret having stayed up that long the night before. I go back to sleep, thinking that those 2 more minutes of rest will make a huge difference. They never do.
06:15 I can finally bring myself to leave my warm, cozy bed to make some coffee that goes along with my morning cigarette.
06:25 I stumble across my school books on the floor while throwing some random pieces of clothing on my bed which I will put on after washing my face and brushing my teeth.
06:40 I don’t have too much time left, so I hurriedly gather everything I need and try to fit it in my broken bag, that could really use some replacement or fixing.
06:50 I down a glass of orange juice, telling myself that this synthetic shit will somehow keep me awake and on my toes the whole day.
06:55 I try to open the door, but as always, it’s still locked. I rummage through all that stuff I got spread all over my room, trying to find my keys.
06:58 I missed my bus.
7:00 I make sure I got everything I need, make a list of things to do when I get back home (which I know I won’t do anyway) and wait for the next bus.
Oh yeah, I do all of this while listening to some Wake Up/Morning Playlist.
So… Reading your post, does that now mean my Life is bad? ;)
