Moving to a poor country to live well?

Has anyone thought of this? I’m an American and don’t really like the structure of society. I would love to make some money and move to a poor country and do volunteer work maybe, meditate, try to live more naturally. Where could I go? How much would it cost? Has anyone done this?

Bump for this guy? @mwinship13

I would also like to know if anyone here has done this or has stories of somebody who has.

If you’re going to volunteer do it because you want to help people, don’t use it as an opportunity to serve yourself.

Yeah, I thought of the guy in Scarface with his giant mansion in Columbia when I saw the title.

I bet it is doable though. If you save money before, in some places (Phillipines for sure) a couple of thousand would go a long, long way – especially if you were planning on living simply.

You have to adapt to a radically different culture but if that’s what you’re going for then…cool.

I suppose the more research you do, the better.

@mwinship13, what do you mean by poor country? there are a lot of places to go to, but it depends on what kind of culture you’d be willing to adapt to. Like for example, if you go to some poor arab country (if there is??) then you have to adapt to islamic culture. I’d pick a place where I would feel comfortable living in.
