Mushrooms Leading To Murder?

Eric (@blankey)8 years, 5 months ago

So my mother made me read an article about a kid who apparently ingested magic mushrooms (said by witnesses) and ripped out his friends heart thinking he was in a fight between God and the devil…

Please tell me that the rest of you who have ACTUALLY taken mushrooms do NOT think this is even close to possible while under the influence of Psilocybin.

My brother thinks it is true which I find very odd considering the things I have told him about mushrooms and the research I have done on them, but he has never taken them, so I don’t put it past him.

Although, if you have actually seen something like this happen with JUST mushrooms, let me know, cuz I’d like to hear.

online version I found: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/california-mma-fighter-jarrod-wyatt-accused-ripping-friend-heard-tongue-pleads-guilty-murder-article-1.1154835

lol well that’s some crazy stuff. i’ve never seen or heard anythin happen like that with mushies but this 1 time my friend took a lot of syd and thought he died went to purgatory, got reborn and therefore must have been jesus christ. so although he didn’t kill anybody, it’s still true to say that u can take a lot of 1 thing and have your reality be so twisted that u no longer have control, and, depending on what kind of person u are, you can have all kinds of crazy sides of u come out while ur thinking ur in some crazy fantasy.. so who knows. all depends on the quality n quantity of what they took n how their mind/body reacts.

@blankey, wish I could help clarify this case, but what I can do is state that I doubt almost entirely that this could have stemmed from shrooms alone. Sounds to me like someone was already on the brink of psychosis…

It’s sooo silly the radical rumors that get passed around about psychedelics. People unfortunately really believe those stories, and it creates that unjustified fear that so many have about a plant or drug they’ve never even seen.

When some lunatic gets shitfaced drunk and hurts someone, alcohol doesn’t make the national news for ‘making’ him do it. It’s so unfair for media to blame these freak incidents on the drug, especially mushrooms. I doubt anyone’s even physically capable of ripping the heart out of another’s chest; that sounds like a ghost story to fear monger innocent minds.

This is a difficult situation. I have taken mushrooms about 7 times. Each time a took an eighth of mushrooms. The trip lasted a long time and was INCREDIBLY pleasent. My two best friends were also experimentING with this tippy drug and we had a ton of fun with them. Well call my friends R and S.

One night there was a party at this girls house. Everyone was having a great time and R decides he was gonna take another eighth of shrooms. He mixed it with lemon juice (which apparently is arguable weather or not it has any affect whatsoever aside from just the mushrooms.) Now in my experiences with mushrooms taking them in a densely populated social environment is a no no. But he was ultimately fine just felt like he needed to go home. A friend gave him a ride home. They sat in the car and smoked weed. Conversing. The conversation was about being the master of your own universe. The person who gave him a ride home drew the parallel to god. “YOU ARE God R”
This made him feel very good. Like one day he could get where he wanted just by believing it and working hard. He was inspired. They went inside. R’s house was empty. Noone there except him and his ride. At this point there is a small hole in the story. I’m not sure what got R upset here but I will continue the retelling nonetheless. R tried to kick his rude out because he felt like he was plotting against him. He thought he was evil. He thought he was the devil. (R was an athiest. His family devout Christians. I feel like this was a big issue in his life. He was scared to tell his family. HI think this bothered him often). R’s ride left and was very worried about R. He called S. “Hey man R is acting weird he took the mushrooms you guys had”. Me R and S were the best of friends. Long talks at night. Cooking big meals. Throwing parties for each other. Going on vacation together. We were happy just being together end enjoying life. We all had the same job. Took breaks together hung out EVERY DAY.

S came over and knocked on the door. Joey being comfortable with him let hik. In they sat down and talked. S calmed R down a lot. But there conversation took a turn that no one could expect. R Told S ” I am god! It’s okay man . One day we will be rich.!!” S responded ” there is no God R. All there is is conciousness through time” R thought his ride sent S there to kill him or take him somewhere. He grabbed a 14 inch kitchen knife and chased S through the house. He caught S. Stabbed him 11 times. S died there on. The floor of Rs home. The ride heard and came inside with a knife of his own. S last words were. “Let him live”

I know when people love a drug they defend to no end. I know most of you have tripped and had a great time as I did. I don’t believe mushrooms MAKE a person violent. But it allows you to change reality. R changed his reality into a situation. That activated his fight or flight. Filled with adrenaline and the fear of death he had no control left. I know you will all tell me “he must of been crazy” but no. Far from it. I k of him better than anyone. He really was the nicest person I knew. We were buds. I knew him well. He was tho Friendliest person in high school had character witnesses from all walks of life and his sentence mirrored his kindness I  his life.
He got 3 and a half to 10 years in prison. If you are I  a moral dilemma or a tough time in your life DO NOT TAKE MUSHROOMS. they are very powerful and can me you do thing you would not normally do. If anyone has any questions or would like proof I can provide that.

It’s weird that you didn’t even Google I before assuming it was fake. He actually did far worse than ripping out his still beating heart and throwing it in the fire. That’s one of the lesser gruesome facts from the night.

The comments on that article are so funny. There’s the actual, experienced drug users giving their direct feedback and opinions on the situation. Then there’s the totally ignorant Christians and straight-edges that have no idea what they’re talking about, damning the honest feedback and blaming the whole thing and existence of drugs on the devil.

People that still think angels and devils motivate our actions are the real psychotic ones. Imagine the corruption that comes from believing that you’re not responsible for your own actions. “Whoops, the devil made me do it.”–get fucking real. Same goes for psychedelics, they’re not an excuse for violence.

That professional fighter could have had a history of violence or unstable emotions. Mushrooms doesn’t externally change you at all, it simply shows you things about yourself. He pled not guilty via insanity, the mushrooms detail probably had nothing to do with the murder, just an attempt diffuse some blame. Another day, another drug used as a scapegoat for insane behavior.

I understand what you are saying. However you are In denial. Maybe Inate in his instance you are right but i have seen someone trip on mushrooms and kill someone they love. A beutiful non violent person who was by all who knew him s account a very down to earth humble sane person. And by his own account sane. He did something he would not of done had he not been on shrooms. End of story. I do not entirely blame mushrooms. Many factors could have led to this happening but had he been so error my friend would still be alive. This I know. People do things that are out of sober character on all drugs. But psychedelics have the potential to be very fucking dNgerous. Please do not insist to people they are completely safe. I don’t want to stop people from using shrooms. I just want them to understand that they can drive to the brink of insanity if you are not prepared. The informed tripper is the smart tripper.

Guy probably had some issues to begin with. I’ve seen people do some really fucked up things because they were having a bad trip though.

@blankey, When I was much, much younger I did shrooms with some friends (4)… one of us had a bad trip and thought the rest of us were all aliens trying to steal his imagination (something along those lines.) he pulled a knife on us, threw bottles and a frying pan at us and basically trashed my other friends home.

Sisyphus (48) (@sisyphus) 8 years, 5 months ago ago

I mean if the guy was inexperienced, took a larger dose than he should have, and had a hell of a bad trip… I wouldn’t write it off as impossible. He could have lost the idea of life and death entirely. Who knows. Psychedelics can be incredibly powerful and must be treated as such.

srprogression09 (12) (@srprogression09) 8 years, 5 months ago ago

From my experience with shrooms, it does not seem plausible. But as sisyphus said, an overdose of a psychedelic drug may be very dangerous.

I took it several times and i can say mushrooms don’t lead to murder lol. It can made you completely crazy but not made you a murderer. Maybe for some people who are predisposed to murder it’s possible, but for a normal person it will not happen. Mushrooms made me and all my friends happy and altruistic.

(Sorry for my bad english :) )

Sauceboss (0) (@THESAUCEISBOSS) 4 years, 11 months ago ago

It made me happy as well. I realize though that they were. VERY powerful. I assure you however low the chance. Mushrooms can make you violent. Ive seen it in morally sound individuals. As much as you would like to deny it. Mushrooms can make a murderer in Extremely rare instances. People’s reaction is to attack the moral standing mental health and character of the violent tripper. But it really can happy to anyone who is not prepared for the interview site of theit trip. You msyt stay I  touch with reality while tripping. It can escape you.

Sean LeBlanc (76) (@bongodeburrito) 8 years, 5 months ago ago

I dont think I can honestly say its impossible. I’ve never had a single bad feeling towards anything while tripping, but I do think that incidents like this are caused by people who arent ready to handle a trip, and/or take more than they should, and/or are in the wrong environment. Set, setting, dosage.

Sauceboss (0) (@THESAUCEISBOSS) 4 years, 11 months ago ago

I assure you this is the truth. You have a good open minded perspective on hallucinegenics. I implore you to keep this mindset if you continue tripping.

Not impossible, an accident can happen, in certain circumstances, anything can happen… But then we can say that with all drugs…

Erin Chelsey (17) (@erinchelsey) 8 years, 5 months ago ago

@blankey, When I did mushrooms, they didn’t work. So we took more. We were laying on the couch watching TV waiting for them to work, when my body started to feel weird. I needed to go outside. So the three of us went outside, and lay on a pile of pool toys, and watched the sunrise over the trees. Gold flakes were floating up from the pool, the sky was swirling in eternity symbols, and the green of the trees mixing with the yellow of the sunlight was so beautiful. I thought the trees were beckoning me to join them, and the birds were encouraging me to take flight. But I couldn’t, because the ground was holding me still, and “keeping me safe.” It was beautiful. The earth was my friend. I find it hard to believe someone could just rip someone’s heart out while on shrooms, but then again maybe he was just already crazy, or had taken something else too. I know my friend did shrooms and acid, and she started crying while peeing because she thought a monster was trying to claw his way out of her vagina. So idk. But my experience was good.

Sauceboss (0) (@THESAUCEISBOSS) 4 years, 11 months ago ago

You cannot take a personal account of the drug and say it is not possible for someone else to do something crazy unless they already are crazy. If someone has bad experiences with a drug they can’t say it’s not possible to have a good experience. Personally I’ve had good e,periences. Very good. Humbling colorful lively e,periences. My friend had kne that landed him in prison. Hes a.good kid too.  Enter than most I assure you. A true role model for the average human actually. Accepting and nice. Not greedy. Loving and u derstanding. But a bad trip made him a murderer.

@blankey, just curious, what is your favorite strain of psilocybin?

[Hidden]
Kidd (1,059) (@kidd) 8 years, 5 months ago ago

Here’s the thing: drugs can do some crazy ass things to people. And the key word there is “can.”

That is a one in a billion case. More often than not, drugs aren’t that bad for you as long as you treat them like anything else and don’t do too much.

I mean, there are people out there allergic to Advil–even more so than there are people who fuck up their lives because of illegal drugs–but there’s no “war on Advil.”

But, because of this war on drugs, people exaggerate and circulate all the bad things drugs can do, never the good things. The media assists and so there is this stigma against things like shrooms. It’s such BS. I’m not saying you shouldn’t be careful with anything you do, I’m saying that just realize that society can extremely alter your perceptions of what’s bad and what’s good when most things are neither of the above.

Nightowl (260) (@nightowl) 8 years, 5 months ago ago

These psychedelics are so important to the human psyche precisely because they push us to the edge of insanity, to experience “Unsanity” and all the ways it changes one’s outlook on life.

I’ve read where a kid drank tea then fell asleep. He woke up alone, tripping, thought he was dreaming but couldn’t wake up. Shot himself in the forehead with a .22 rifle. Fortunately he survived.

Experiences can be weird… But if you can’t handle the strange, if you can’t handle the unsanity, it’s not the mushroom’s fault. It’s yours. You got issues in your mind and your soul and you simply aren’t stable. Evolved people wouldn’t get anywhere close to doing this sort of thing regardless the degree of whatever insanity-inducing chemical.

[Hidden]
Nightowl (260) (@nightowl) 8 years, 5 months ago ago

@1love, there are no “strains” of psilocybin. Psilocybin is a chemical. It will be the same anywhere.

100% possible, they do call them mind altering for a reason!
I find when a trip goes bad and you past the point of salvaging you’re experience, It’s one of the worst feelings I could think of. Having a world form around you where you don’t understand, then having a battle like god and the devil? Sound like someone had a personality disorder like schizotypal, and when you do experiment with drugs it enhances the disorder.
So with schizotypal where you suffer delusions, do mushrooms and then you live your delusions

@versai, Great point. Why is alcohol given pardon for its destruction? Where I live a huge amount of homicides are caused by young drunk people, yet its NEVER mentioned in the papers that they were drinking. Then one death is caused by anothe drug and that drug is then to blame. lunacy

All of us have the ability to kill though. If an animal feels like they have only one chance.at.survival they will fight and kill. We are only animals after all with similar instinct and impulse. Mushrooms can make you feel like you are on the brink of death.
