My Dream of a Cleaner World

for some time now, i’ve been delving into science (i just turned 24, my interests in this started around 21-22) and physics, astronomy, the beauty of math, and also spirituality, with studies in buddhism, taoism, hinduism, and a little of my own metaphysical beliefs (raised strictly christian, so i needed to expand my originally very limited perspective of the infinite).

now all these interests have been culminating and seeming to build upon eachother, but i couldn’t feel a pull of the internal compass, a strong sense of direction. i just felt interested and curious, but not knowing how to apply this newfound world i was discovering into my actions.

then, i started considering the field of renewable energy; solar, wind, wave, anything natural. i have always sensed an affinity towards nature and the belief that we can all learn many valuable and practical lessons from the patterns and genius of natural cycles and phenomena.

our reliance on fossil fuels and the damage this is doing to our planet is something i feel very passionate about, and i would love the science aspect of adapting natural processes into inventions, or improving existing models for increased efficiency and lower cost.

here comes the question: does anyone know how to get into this field of study? what schools would have a good program? or maybe even a company working towards these goals. i know this is research i need to do myself also, but i figured i’d ask my wise friends @ HE. :)
