Negative thoughts..

Hi guys,

I’ve noticed recently that when I smoke weed which I’ve been doing for 6 years, I start having negative thoughts about myself and really gets me down. Is it time to back off a bit and take a break?

Maybe time to look upon the source of said thoughts?

@stevdev, yes. it may hard to..but ffs yes. try to take even a few days or a week off.

Well unless you’re taking the drug to put yourself down and have negative thoughts then of course the answer is to not smoke anymore. Why smoke with if you aren’t enjoying it ? Their are a few things you could try though, moderating how much you take, having a break from it or as Camilo mentioned, try and think about why you are having negative thoughts. If you are getting stoned and then reading something which would provoke negative thoughts rather then positive then just change what you’re doing whilst high. Try correcting yourself when you notice yourself having a negative thought maybe, change it from a negative and imagine a positive scenario for the negative thought you just had. @stevdev,

@stevdev, Do not let negative thoughts effect on your life. leave the things which cause you to lead in negative ways .. otherwise one day you will understand that you were destroying your inner side with negative THINGS and THOUGHTS…….

lol don’t try and think about why you’re having negative thoughts

we are compulsive by nature. move on. imo don’t think you have to QUIT smoking, because that sounds daunting (and then you won’t). But do take a 4 day break if you’ve been smoking everyday for 6 years as it sounds. You may find some clear happiness from it.

also that sobriety WILL let you tackle whatever real-life issues you were thinking of too.

I’m in the same situation , Negative thoughts while high comes from problem with self esteem and confidence or stress , there might be something bother you and you feel self conscious
Smoking make it worse , You might even take a long break and still feel the same way
you either take a break and fix whatever happening in your life ..
or it may be Bad weed … But since you smoking for 6 years .. i dont think so

@stevdev, Yep, time to drop the habit.

When things are getting you down, get rid of them.

When you use a drug often, it’s time to stop.

@stevdev, I too smoked for six years before realizing that all I had gotten out of it and was likely to ever get out of it were the munchies and, like you, negative thoughts about myself as well. I remember the second to last time I ever smoked, it was no fun at all. Just a panic attack that I couldn’t wait to be out of.

Do what you want of course. But you are saying yourself that you don’t think weed is making you happy, quite the opposite in fact. It’s also known to burn holes in one’s wallet.
