Congrats Jan! I know an addiction of any sort can be hard to over come so you’ve certainly pulled a feat.

@Sasho
Not everyone who drinks and smokes is addicted. It’s really all about your body’s relationship with it. For some they can get by using it just fine, for others it can be addictive.

7 weeks in. No Porn, No Masturbation. Crazy amount of changes from 7 weeks ago.

A new change i recently started noticing more often was how men my age are completely fixated on women’s looks and the wish of “fucking” said women.

I still go to college so I hang out with a lot of guys during breaks and it is completely annoying at the amount of times I get interrupted mid conversation because one of the men sees a girl and has to stop the world to announce he wants to “Lick that nice ass” or “stick his in hers till she screams”. Every single time I’ll stop and say “Go talk to her then” and the guy immediately says, “No, What the hell am I gonna say?”. Was I this perverted before? Is this why I couldn’t talk to women? More recently I have been able to strike up a conversation with anyone, hot or not and I am no longer gawking at women when they walk by as it isn’t the first thing that pops into my mind.

It’s a beautiful world out there.

How’s everyone doing so far?

I read in a recent article somewhere that porn addiction can lead to psychosis, social alienation, lack of lust for live etc etc. Has anyone noticed significant changes?

Very impressive, gentlemen! This renews my faith that there are still men out there willing to change detrimental habits.

My hope is that your lives become more fulfilling than you ever dreamed! This woman is cheering for all of your recoveries!

@martijn, Almost at 8 weeks. A lot of significant changes…majority of them are positive, ONE change is negative, but I try to move passed that one.

Positive changes:

1: Communication with others has become much deeper with a stronger connection between. This is mostly due to the eye contact while conversing. It was always harder to stare someone in the eyes before, kind of like you feel embarrassed or guilty that they can see right through you. Now that I have nothing to hide, nothing to be embarrassed about, I can confidently stare into someone’s eyes whilst I talk and the connection intensifies. Works wonders with women as well.

2:My speech has improved a lot. I’m the type of person who talks first, thinks second, at least I thought I was until now. I’m able to stop and think, thoroughly, about what I want to say and say it with confidence.

3: I no longer feel the need to gawk at women passing by. When a woman passes me the first place I look is her face and it is not to see if she is “doable” it is to gage an understanding of how she is feeling. I’m a lot more interested on what is going on in their heads than inside their pants.

4: I have been meeting some really great women lately and it hasn’t been difficult to talk to them. Now that I don’t see them all as insatiable whores (as porn would make us believe they were, I’m not saying I think all women are whores lol) I am not afraid to strike up a conversation because my first intention isn’t perverted. Because of this I met a really amazing women that I see has a lot of potential to become something great.

5: I find myself with a lot more time now. Sometimes it gets a bit boring but that is because I am used to occupying my time on the computer. This has forced to me to fill my time with things I really want to do, like continue writing short films, continue my photography, and focus more on my family and friends.

5:My energy is through the roof right now. Flying everywhere.

6:My strength has gone up A LOT.

7:I am cutting fat faster than I have ever cut fat. My muscles are more cut and ripped because of the disappearing fat.

8:My testosterone has increased a lot. Facial hair, which might not sit well with some men, has grown 3X as fast as it has before and my skin is clearer than ever.

9:My libido has increased

10:Morning wood is crazy, women sleeping over should be scared haha

11:I feel a lot motivated to go out and do things.

12:I have gained much more respect for children.

13:My attitude towards a lot of things has changed, judgement is no longer there to keep me from seeing things in a positive way.

14:I can think quicker on my feet and I am not afraid to express my thoughts confidently.

15: My emotions are a little out of wack, I’m feeling more than ever right now. Not saying it’s a bad thing.

I can go on with a lot more but I just wanted to post the main points I think had the most impact during this.

The ONE negative effect this whole experience has had on me would have to be that I have become A LOT more anxious and antsy. I find myself waiting for something all the time, I look at the clock constantly like there is some big event coming up. This isn’t as bad as I’m making it sound though, it’s just one of the negatives I have found.

Day 33 of no masturbation, no porn. The build-up has taken some time but I can feel it. I’m moving past my sexual obsessions with certain women, past sex altogether it sometimes feels like. To put it better, I feel as if sex does not control my decisions or my course of action. Yesterday I could have easily slept with a girl (she was almost begging me to stay when I told her that I wanted to leave, because I don’t REALLY like her — under “normal” circumstances I might had stayed) but I just brushed it off. I guess this is the flatline period; some days I have no energy to do anything, I just lie around and sleep for hours. Others I’m very energetic and willing to go out there and do something with myself and my life. What can I say? I think the effects are very positive!

@martijn, 46 days so far. I think it is hard to say what changes have occurred and which are due to this challenge and which are due to other factors and/or a combination of them. I have started the cold shower challenge around the same time like this challenge, and I have started meditating as well, so I cannot say whether the changes that occur are due to this challenge. However, I feel better overal. Like others mentioned already, I see women less as a sexobject or something like that, and while talking to (strange) women sex is not the only thing that is on my mind, so I think this is one of the biggest changes I can address to this challenge. About my libido, it seems like it seems like it staggers a little bit, and I have also been in my flatline period for quite some time.
Furthermore I am dreaming more lately, but I do not know whether it has something to do with this challenge.

I have done this before. I think I’ll pass this time around. Good learning experience though. To think how many hours I’ve put into those hours I’ve dedicated to self pleasure….Wouldn’t take back a second.

I’m very skeptical about everyones’ claims of positive effects, but I’m considering giving this a try.

I don’t think I’m addicted to porn but i usually watch it once at night before i go to bed as part of my bedtime relaxation rituals. I can masturbate without porn just fine. Often I get off quicker without porn because I dont spend time surfing the net for something that is “just right”

I’m probably addicted to masturbation though.

Actually had a really intense spiritual experience while watching porn one time…anyways!

I recently found HE from a link a friend posted on Facebook, and I’ve basically been lurking, reading all the articles and the discussions.

This discussion really hit home for me, I’m a teenager and I masturbate almost every night, and, after having read all 14 pages of posts, I decided to take on the 90 day challenge.

I gotta pose the skeptical question pertaining to all of these positive benefits..

Is it really the physical result of no masturbation? Or is it your expectation of what the results will be that is creating the change? Like a placebo…

I think everyones whole self is made up of three-selves. The past-self and how you perceive your past. Your current self (the only self you really can’t change that much). And your future-self and what your anticipation of the future looks like.

This challenge created a fantastic anticipation for your future-self with all these benefits that you’ve read to expect… so I really have to wonder how big a roll not turking it really plays in a physiological sense. Or, like I said, if it’s simply a placebo

[Hidden]
Luigi (1,453) (@luigiblue) 8 years, 7 months ago ago

@sumtinprophetic, You make a good point, as I do believe that most, if not all, of the physical affects are placebo but I do believe the psychological benefits are due to the fact that you have eliminated porn from your life.
For example, the fact that my perspective on women has changed completely while doing this challenge is not at all placebo but The fact that I have more energy could indeed be a placebo affect. Either way, placebo or not, if it makes yourself a better self, then I say go for it. It has been absolutely great for me.

WryJester (93) (@wryjester) 8 years, 7 months ago ago

My whole thing is that this website is fully of skeptics. So I would assume the placebo affect to be small.

SumtinProphetic (4,925) (@sumtinprophetic) 8 years, 7 months ago ago

@luigi, right on… I’m not condemning the challenge at all, I’m just curious. Whatever it is, as long as the positive results keep showing up then all I can say is – fuck yeah, more power to ya
