@andresni, care to back that statement up? Can’t find reference to abstinence being a risk factor for testicular cancer in the few online medical databases I’ve conculted.

now on day 10, it’s going pretty easy for me, haven’t had to resist any real temptation yet. I’m pretty surprised by the easy with which I’ve gone through the 10 day so far. In the past one week already was pretty hard.
Not sure if it’s really healthy to abstain from orgasms, need to read up a bit about that.
Anyway, I haven’t really noticed any major effects on behavior or something, gonna hold out for as long as possible, because the testaments on yourbrainonporn sound pretty drastic, however most of them were kind of addicted if you see how many times they did it.

@bryan
I get what you’re saying, but this is a totally different thing my man. If you read one of the articles on YBOP in-depth you’ll notice how this is more than just doing it ‘just to do it’.. It’s a serious problem. When you notice the ‘constant brain fog’ the depleted energy, the low-desire to go out and do things, that shit is serious, and thats the reason for doing this… Everyone has their own reasons.
If you like to masturbate and masturbate frequently, I personally am not against it, and if you feel you’re cool and you’re fine with that, then do that. Forget this challenge.

@john
Dude, I think when this whole thing came up, the idea for it and all that, people misunderstood the concept behind it. It’s much more than just ‘Don’t jerk for 30 days Challenge’. It’s a personal commitment… I know you get that, so, two-shay my n!gga!

@andresni
Playboy, this thing NEVER said NO SEX, of course you can have sexual relations with your spouse/girl/whatever.. The problem is PORN+MASTURBATION. and the desensibilization of those ‘pleasure receptors’ in the brain.. The purpose of this is NOT to ‘overcome masturbation to NEVER do it again’, no, it’s not about that. It’s about ‘rebooting’ your mind into enjoying REAL intercourse again.

Day Four: So far so good. I’ve noticed I’m not quite as lethargic in the morning, but I’m still not sure if this is entirely related to having stopped masturbating, we shall see.

I think too many people are misunderstanding this whole thing. Yes some people were TALKING about semen retention…that isn’t the challenge at hand though, it was just a topic of discussion. The challenge was to go 30 days without masturbating to porn. You can have all the sex you want. Just don’t masturbate to porn.

@bryan…Read some articles on http://www.yourbrainonporn.com and see why this is being done. We aren’t just doing it “Just because”.

Bryan Hellard (307)M (@xyver) 8 years, 9 months ago ago

@ John and Tony Been through all those, I’ve been following this topic for quite some time. But like I said, none of those things have convinced me that I should stop. Or, yes, some of them sound like great reasons to stop, but I have yet to notice the effects, so I don’t think that they affect me (failure to have real sex, sluggish/laziness because of masturbating….).

It’s like learning about how fast food is bad for you, and you go “wow, that stuff really can be bad, I can’t believe people eat it so much!”, yet still thinking “Well, I hardly ever have fast food, and everything in moderation is OK, right?” So I do see the the reasons behind all this, but don’t see how they affect me.

On that note, I am still doing this challenge, because like I said, this is my one vice that remains xD I’ve been weeding out all the other ones, (rarely have junk food anymore, get to bed on time, play the computer less….), and this is the one that still sticks. I am doing it, just to see if I can, as a test of self control. And who knows, maybe I will get extra energy boosts, and maybe sex will get better after awhile. Only one way to find out I guess….

Beginning of Day 3…

EDIT:: I’ll also throw in the fact that I don’t watch porn much anymore, mostly just fantastize. It’s funny, the more I learn about sex and what is pleasurable and what isn’t, the less I like porn :P I see it and think “That wouldn’t be fun at all…..” So porn loses most of the appeal to me

Luigi (1,453) (@luigiblue) 8 years, 9 months ago ago

@ Bryan…There you go, I agree. It’s more about self control and discipline just like doing the 30 day cold shower. It’s one of the reasons I am sticking to it but I’m also hoping to reep the benefits. I have done this before, went 4 weeks without doing it and the first 3 weeks were horrible..but I started to notice the small things have changed. I wasn’t looking at girls on the street and immediately picturing her bent over saying dirty words to me. When I’m in a shopping mall I wasn’t picturing older women trying to seduce me. Believe it or not, Porn does fuck with you.

@luigi
I agree.. Porn DOES fuck with you.. I remember my last job as a service-man two years ago. Everytime I walked into a house and was greeted by a beautiful woman, I instantly thought about ‘service-man sex.. ohhh yeah”… The shit can get pretty weird.

@bryan
Well Bryan, seems like you found your own personal reason to do it. And that’s good… Hope you can stick to those guns!

Manimal (2,998) (@manimal) 8 years, 9 months ago ago

@luigi For me it was the other way around, when I stopped watching porn my mind started doing things and for the first time in a long while I noticed the women around me and how damn beautiful they were. When I still had porn, I wasn’t interested in the real world women unless they were coming on to me, but once I dropped that garbage I was overwhelmed by all the sexiness surrounding me. Like stepping out of a haze, seeing things that I didn’t see despite the fact they were right in front of me.

It’s as if before I got rid of porn and wankage, women didn’t register as persons, but after it they did. Porn definitely fucks people up, in many ways, just look at the symptoms described on that site, some of them are pretty much opposites.

Went a week without. Felt good. Had a relatively good week. Broke the trend last night with just my imagination.

Once a week at least seems better than nothing. I know I can go longer, I just don’t know if I want to.

Sounds great though, I’m honored.

@manimal it has been like that for me too. Before I still saw women around and was attracted to them, but now it seems like I am super attracted to good looking women around me.

0 day 8 hrs in:

Closing 3 tabs of porn in my opera mini browser…i was about to wank it tonight when i saw this thread.

My reason: as a kid i used to be fine without it and life was brilliant. So, why not?

IKE (1) (@skidude1987) 8 years, 9 months ago ago

@ JOSH “When you are tempted to wank, and you will be undoubtedly, don’t give in. Instead offer yourself a sacrament of a walk, meditation, reading, a documentary, something that will give you an eventual gain as oppossed to the loss. The tribute to betterment will make your path more righteous, and will give you the power to examine everything you do for yourself at face value.”

I think i am going to start posting randomly on Porn site video comments just to do some positive trolling…LOL

@Kaysea haha sounds like you’re really having a hard time ;)

about to go to bed, which means I have completed day 13

I’m in! I’m so intrigued. Even though a woman’s body doesn’t have a choice on whether or not it drops an egg and flushes it out, I’m really excited about the mental effects and the boost of energy I hope to gain. Porn really does warp the mind and the way we see sex and the way we see each other sexually. Plus, when I do have sex, maybe orgasms won’t seem so dreadfully far away. That is a major motivator to start this thing. Or well really stop this thing. Goodluck everyone!
