@Morgan If you need motivation just think about the prolactin, you’re increasing your longevity by not exposing your brain to as much of that stuff. Although women don’t release as much of that in a single release as men do, from what I understand. Still makes a difference though.
@know1 same dude, the last two day’s I’ve felt very anxious, but I think it may be because I just got a new job that’s starting soon. I’ve also had a lot of dreams about watching porn.
alright, I need to start over again. yesterday morning I sinned out of pure boredom, wich is kind of ridiculous but it happened.
a bit strange because day 1 till 4 were going without any trouble or need whatsoever. then the 5th day was a bit tricky because I was horny and bored but I managed to not do it. then 6 was no problem again. But despite of this first failure I will try again and I´m pretty confident that I can make the 30 days, I heard that the first 8 are the hardest, maybe thats why I cracked on the 7th.
I just signed up here, after reading an interesting article of a friend of mine, and this is the first discussion topic I clicked on. After spending 2 minuts on YBOP I decided to spend the rest of my evening reading about it, and probably setting a new goal for myself, like you guys did. I have to read a little bit more yet, to find out what it is all about, but at first sight it seems legit to me.
Welcome Filip, glad to have you here! :)
First time I did this challenge I was in the perfect environment (buddhist monastery in Nepal with buddhist precepts), and it was still incredible hard. I managed in the end, but I went through some intense difficult inner struggles. You can do it, but living your daily life with alot of stress factors and distractions only makes it easier to listen to your monkey-mind. So don’t be so hard on yourself when you don’t succeed when you don’t meet the goals you’ve set for yourself. Be happy that you are someone who dares to challenge their long held beliefs and neurosis.
From the people I talked to in the monastery, more than half gave in one time or another. This is normal, you didn’t acquire these habits overnight, and you won’t lose them so fast either. Just remember you are stronger than the external forces working on your desires, and everything will work out!
I failed on the second day. I’m considering just quitting porn, because I’ve always been a porn hating, secret porn watcher and I’m sick of it. So that half of the challenge is still ON for me. But the no masturbation part, I’m not so sure and here’s why: I struggle with depression/anxiety, and when I start to feel “pent up” (which occurs from one to no more than 4 days after i masturbate) I know that to do it will decrease my uncomfortable feeling. Now i consider that I should try new meditation techniques and just try to get through that excuse, but then I talked to my boyfriend yesterday and he gave me another thought.. We are temporarily stuck having a long distance relationship and he’s afraid that if I don’t masturbate I will be tempted to cheat on him. So I decided that If I do try it I will put in a fail-safe so that if I am tempted to cheat, I will readily give up the challenge, excuse myself, and go take care of business. ha
@Manimal I wasn’t so sure what prolactin was or did so I found this site which I strongly recommend to anyone who doesn’t already know.

This is major motivation. It sounds heavenly to have such reduced anxiety, depression and hostility. I can’t believe that the peak doesn’t stop that day, it keeps elevating for two to three weeks after that one big dose after orgasm. Wow thats a lot of mood swings.
3 Days 16 hrs:
Looked through the YBOP site yesterday, really pissed off with myself for wanking all these years.
@Joris, that’s correct.. as a matter of fact i have been tidying up for a trip tomorrow so masturbation has been off the menu.
I have failed in the porn aspect, i can’t get rid of the videos on my hard drive. It’s kinda fun teasing myself with a few minutes once in a while haha. *feeling like Odysseus vs the singing nymphs*
@Trisha When ever you get “pent up” try going on a hard run, gym session, or what ever exerting sport you favor. Taking out that frustration in a different way may be better for you mentally and physically.
@Kaysea You CAN get rid of the videos on your computer. You should try deleting them all. It feels great, very liberating.
@vishnu
Dude, same thing happened to me, but I was lucid dreaming, so I don’t feel too guilty. I sort of ‘cheated’…. So let’s begin AGAIN.
@Sasho
Dude, I went clean 4 days, didn’t notice any change.. I’m beggining to return to my ‘everything in moderation’ ways. Meaning, I agree with you, this just might be a time waster if you’re not actually addicted to porn in the ENTIRE sense of the word.
