not sure uni is for me

so I feel like money is a big stressor in my life right now. I am currently in first year and going to major in in natural resource management. I am really enjoying my classes and have a good social life. My biggest concern are the expenses, the approximate cost is 14 000 per year. I will definitely have to take a some student loans to afford this. A graduate entry level job pays around 50000$ and the median make about 610000. I just feel like the amount of time and money I invest into this is hardly worth the return I will get. People always say to follow my passion but if I were to do that I would need never work a day in my life, wich would not bring any income.. it’s just impossible. 60k is a low salary, especially if I want to raise a family of say 4. I don’t want to be “scrapping by”. Right now im thinking of taking a trade instead. They make much better money. Maybe money shouldn’t be such a concern to me. Im kind of confused over what I wanted to do right now, im thinking I should go travelling after my summer job. sorry i am just ranting just so lost.

For me personally, I think college is something you should do if you want to do a particular job. If you don’t have a particular job in mind then I think it’s a waste of time and money.

Hi, if I could give you an advice it would be to go travel. Explore the world, learn more about yourself and have fun.

A lot of people need student loans for college. But think about it. 4-year degree means 14000×4 = 54000. How long do you expect to work once you’ve started your career? Probably until at least 60 years old right? You have plenty of time to pay those back. And it’s undoubtedly worth it if you know that that is the career you will enjoy.

Everyone has to worry about their finances. That’s not an abnormal thing. If you really want to take a break, take a semester off and go travel. But I suggest that you do finish your degree so you can go into the field you want to.
