Our Distinctions.

Ray Butler (@trek79) 8 years, 10 months ago

We make distinctions such as Race, Class, Nationality, Sexuality, Religion and Intellectual Capability, but these distinctions are illusions that cause us to categorize people. There is no minority except that of the unique individual identity and there is no majority except that of the collective humanity of individuals.

Treat all people the same in one respect; that they are all unique individuals, each with their own unique sets of strengths and weakness’, each with their own unique personality, not a generalized group personality.

You don’t clump people into a group and treat them all the same, you treat each person according to their unique need and you help them grow in their own unique direction, not in a uniform group direction.

Every man is an island separated by 10 degrees in an eternal outward spiral defined by the golden ration and yes, Pi. Who is greater, the core or the newest edition?

Too far?

why treat all people the same? Race, Class, Nationality, Sexuality, Religion and Intellectual Capability distinguish individuals. To say that these are illusions…that they are not as defined and meaningful as we may think…is not to say that they are unreal. My entire perception of reality is illusory but it is not not happening in some sense.

this is feel goodie though…which is nice.

@killopatra, Yes they are real, no doubt a black man has dark skin and a dick, but how relevant is it? Is it as relevant as a human being who needs a fair shot at dignity?
Yes we have differences, our differences are our identity but a gay man does not have a gay personality, he has his own personality.
Feel goodie? You must miss the point; yes people allow these distinctions to effect how we treat others but is their any real justification for that?

But I digress, I am preaching to the choir on this site :)

And if you go back and read it, I am not saying treat all people the same at all, quite the opposite.

@trek79, Distinctions can be hilarious if they’re not hateful. Disrespect though, that’s something everyone needs every once in awhile.
