Truthfully I just wanted to get this communities ideas about this scene.
@valencebore, @melina, The point which struck me was that there’s nothing which can be taken from us. Hopkins’ character emphasizes that he didn’t take Gooding Jr’s freedom or control because he never had it in the first place, evidenced by how easily it was stripped form him.
It’s an extension of the concept that we’re all dead at some point in the future, so the things we possess or feel now are ephemeral. We’re already naked, and the “loss” of anything is merely the illusion of once having it.
