I’m not sure, but I think I’ve met Father Time. He’s commonly understood as an anthropomorphized version of “the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present and future regarded as a whole” (New Oxford American Dictionary). I’m something of an existentialist and don’t believe that I met THE Father Time, but that I met my interpretation of him (although he never introduced himself as Father Time).
He looked reminiscent of Rich Uncle Pennybags (the Monopoly mascot). He would usually flip a coin, like Two-Face, and then transform that coin into matter in a fractal growth fashion. He would show me how everything was connected, and would frequently speak in nursery rhymes. I wish I could remember them. Next time I’ll carry a pad.
Father Time was also kind of a dick.
This has happened a few times, all while I’ve been tripping on LSD. Does anyone else recurrently meet personal characters?
I’ve sensed father time and mother earth on a few of my trips. Or just in general, mescaline had a masculine, fatherly spirit while ayahuasca had a motherly one. One of my first successes with Ayahuasca I imagined the concept of life and time, which presented itself as this ever-changing colorful orb of light that was curving through pure darkness. An object that existed entirely on its own yet never stayed the same. Was a really interesting vision that lasted only a split second but had all this significance subconsciously attached to it. Felt like I had seen life itself… or spirit; imagination; some powerful energy… or perhaps just energy itself.
