I have found through experiences running, elevated states of consciousness. I also find that it acts as a broad psychiatric supplement in which the neurochemicals created while running actually help to mitigate my persistent anxiety and depression. I have even embarked on several psychedelic experiences in combination with running (I’m very fit and noticed that my heart rate was quite elevated which led to a state of anxiety that was hard to pull down. This could very well be dangerous on a person’s heart so please don’t do this unless you are a very experienced runner and/or can stay aware of your own body). These have been fascinating, accentuating the feelings of energy, freedom, and childhood joy that come along with certain substances. These experiences have led me to pursue longer and longer distances, my most recent being a 50k (about 31 miles). Has anyone else experienced similar states or experiences while running? Is anyone else a runner for their depression/anxiety?
