HEthens! This is a “cry for help”
Not really, just asking for your advice…
I have been drinking like a college student for FAR too long (considering I haven’t be in college since 2007). I have noticed that it has become natural for me to grab/make a drink when I don’t have a healthier alternative. I am officially to the point in my life where I know that I need to completely stop drinking (at least for a while) in order to detox & allow my hormones to come to a natural balance.
QUESTION: Have any of you gone through this stage & succeeded? If so, what beverage did you supplement for an alcoholic one?
Thank you in advance HEthens!
@staylucky, Much appreciated reply, I like your lifestyle. I don’t know how to go about obtaining natural food – I live in a fertile river valley but it’s all surrounded by commercial farms it seems like. How can I get in touch with domestic farmers (the internet, lol?)
@danfontaine, You actually can! Farmers who run grass fed pastures know that people want their products now (the shit grain fed animals eat is fucking disgusting i.e steroids and hormones. Those poor creatures are practically pumped with hormones to the point of near explosion to gain more meat out of them just before execution. All that shit goes into the meat we eat.)
If I were you I’d have a browse online. Perhaps ask some health forums in your country to recommend certain brands?
I know when I started I wanted to give up on the first day (I actually tried this 6 months ago and gave up two days later because it was too overwhelming). But then I always took notes when someone mentioned a local product that fit the criteria I was after, then after a while you suddenly see a lot of this stuff pop up.
Even if you can’t find the best stuff, the best thing to do is just make the changes you can. So say you can’t find anything but supermarket chicken? It’s not a failure to get it and steam it instead of going “Well there’s no organic meat, pizza it is!”. That’s how I stopped myself from slacking off.
You can notice the changes as well because the first week your body starts to get rid of all this sugar and crap that’s used to cycling around your system and you feel pretty average, just craving sugar. But now it’s easy as!
If you have any questions or queries please do not hesitate to message me. I’d be more than happy to help where I can!
How about making a CHALLENGE on HE about drinking responsibly (not quitting drinking)? It’s one of the major factors for the lack of moderation and it’s going to help a lot of people. It’s obvious that people aren’t even eating responsibly.
Thanks for the responses everyone!
I definitely feel that my body is searching for some other source of sugar (that it used to get from alcohol).
I wish I could say the same thing as some of you about the increased productivity & clear-headedness, but since I have substituted coffee for alcohol, needless to say my sleep schedule has been all jacked up. I actually think that I have been less productive.
In response to some of the questions as to “why” I decided to stop drinking completely & how much I really drank: I noticed that my alcohol intake was taking precedence over my work duties and other responsibilities. I noticed that I wouldn’t follow through on certain obligations, in order to go drink. I would successfully make excuses for my absences, but I knew that the time would shortly come where they w
Would fall short.
I would probably drink about a 1/2 bottle of vodka a day, or 9-12 beers (that’s or, not both). I understand that many drink more than that, but this is not a competition that I am trying to win. Just full disclosure.
I am still staying strong & am confident that this is a good life choice
Thank you all for the support!
