Reiki energy therapy for the first time..
I had my first Reiki session today!
For those who don’t know what it is.. read this:
http://www.reiki.org/faq/WhatIsReiki.htm
The gist is it’s basically energy therapy through the hands of the practitioner. They touch or hover over certain parts of your body (usually where the seven chakras are) and transfer the universal energy through their hands and onto your body. It heals the spirit and aligns the mind, body, soul.
It was such a beautiful experience. It’s like the intense blissful sensations I get when I’m in deep meditation and can see colors.. but it’s through someone’s hands. And it’s more intense, warm, and loving.
The moment she touched my head I felt a surge of pulsating energy waves throughout my body. I was so happy there were tears in my eyes. No lie. Even when she hovered over certain parts of my body I can feel that warm buzzing tingling sensation of energy waves. It was amazing.
I felt balanced after. Completely energized. And in pure bliss.
Has anyone every done Reiki before? If so did you have a similar experience? Please share, thanks

Yes, my friends room mate touched me Reiki style and asked to remove all obstacles from my heart…I was in familial distress. It’s funny. She said I would notice something strange 3 days later. I climbed the balcony on Thanksgiving drunk as a skunk to sleep in my friends bed. She saw me and chased me off. Reiki is about craziness in my one and only personal opinion. Perhaps it was said practitioner, but I’m always down for a decent massage from a loving person. That’s all it really is. True loving intention, a loving hand, and some skill over the bodies pleasure points.
I’m training to be an RMT in Ontario right now… my profs all laugh when Reiki gets brought up.
I don’t know what to think… but I feel like maybe Reiki is like an excuse, or a little, mental jolt, for the person being treated, to become more aware of their own body. And therefore experience what’s going on in their body more deeply. Really, you could experience what you experienced during your Reiki session all by yourself. It just catalyses your awareness. Like meditation helps you on your path to enlightenment, but is ultimately unnecessary.
@Elise: That’s true I’ve experienced that by myself. I usually feel the tingling pulsating sensation when I am in deep meditation but to feel it without really meditating.. just relaxing.. feeling the universal energy through a person’s touch. It’s pretty amazing. It’s a different level of connection to the universe.
@Stephanie, I just started looking into this. I know what you’re saying is legitimate and isn’t just placebo or mind made stuff to make you think you’re feeling better. I’d do the same thing if I hadn’t experienced it probably. I can feel vibrations within my body (have for a 6-7 months). Usually I’ll focus on wherever I feel the densest energy (which I’ve correlated with negative thinking patterns of the ego), and let it release out of the top of my head. Right now I feel pretty blocked up in my solar plexus through my skull. I feel ‘heavy’ and kind of depressed. Reiki seems like it’s my answer.
I’m actually a level 1 reiki practitioner and im glad to see more people becoming aware of what it is. At first i was skeptical but after learning about it and experiencing a treatment for the first time, i realized how real it was. Once i became attuned to it i was able to sense negative energy within people with my hands… i dont know how to explain it but while i was doing a treatment on someone i felt like this feeling and kept my hands there longer. After i was finished my instructor ( a Reiki master) started working on the same area i felt the negative energy before… it was very interesting
I had my first reiki session for the first time in about 8 years today. When I was a young teen I was very open to things and even had reiki training. I since then moved away from anything spiritual…but have slowly found my way back.
It was really great, I felt such great energy and she spent a lot of time on my third eye chakra. And for anyone who is open to energy I highly recommend it. I really don’t think it’s too disimilar from what I’ve experienced through meditation, and afterward I felt energetic, yet chilled, grounded and balanced. Pretty ace.
It’s a pretty interesting field that’s recently been picking up pace. It doesn’t take much to go and get yourself certified to do it either.. few hundred bucks (but nothing like several thousand for a college degree)… Once you’re certified, ask if you can volunteer at a local place to get experience.. one thing leads to another.. bam! new career developing…which would no doubt start you off and lead you down a positive path…..
Yea I am a massage therapist that is about to take some continuing education in Reiki1 @ 2, and just signed up for a master Reiki class. I have had it done several times and have felt the positive benefits of it. I really want to incorporate this with all the stuff I do with massage and see if it will make a difference it my clients life. (Which I am sure it will)
@stephaniekaitlyn, I don’t know if it was Reiki but when this particular masseuse touched me i felt intense blissful sensations, although she wasn’t touching me on the forehead
