Howdy. I am a young man enrolled in a public high-school in Florida. It really upsets me when I look at the system of education around me. THIS is how we are spreading knowledge? The system is outdated, impersonal, and in many cases useless. They are filling the space in our brains with trash that 1/50 of us student will actually end up using.
But I’m not here to rant. I want to know what YOU would do if you could decide how we taught our children. What would you include in the curriculum? What would you emphasize? Honestly, lets say you can reinvent the way we learn, how would you want it done?
I for one think we need to move away from ‘one-size-fits-all’ education to a system that is more specific to each individual. Because we all think in different ways, so why teach us the same? Also, students need to be exposed to many careers through their young ages as a way to pinpoint their interests and passions earlier on.
Let me hear your thoughts! :)
Haha for education systems to be more appropriate and or effective…… more suited to the meaning of education and knowledge… the people who teach to earn money need to stop teaching and the corrupt politically inclined government needs to withdraw their role from national education. If we have a PETA that operates internationally to save animals why can’t we have something that will save our children??
In my world children would be allowed explore their interests informally and use their natural curiosity to develop self-direction. Obviously this is not realistic globally but I think more time for free art would strengthen that sense of self-direction and lead to taking better responsibility for learning the other subjects.
