Secret Santa with Strangers?

How many of you would meet at a location to do a Secret Santa with strangers? I know we all have different religions, beliefs, and traditions here on HE, but we could all come together and celebrate the time of year and meeting of new people! (not a certain religion). I’m not sure if this makes complete sense, but imagine tons of people, similar to a flash mob, who have never met each other, coming together to exchange a gift and meet new people. I’m not sure of anyone doing this before, but I find it to be a unique concept. I would love to partake also! The only downside is that we all live in such different places. What do you think? Would you partake?

since so many people toot about wanting to travel on this site, I’d assume a book exchange through media mail would be dandy – that way all your enlightenment literature isn’t going to get buried in thrift stores but will make a nice round being gifted into the right curious hands while you get rid of that stuff so you can travel
I have a hard time imagining what can a stranger gift that won’t most likely go into the trash because the person has no need for it. Gifting is fun because it shows someone knows you and thinks of you enough to supplement your life with something you wouldn’t have thought of getting for yourself. Its pretty difficult to make strangers happy. Unless you’re giving them money, which would still be relative of value to what you make and they make. I can’t think of a single thing to get a stranger. Does everyone use pens?

You make a good point! I agree. It’s the thought that counts too, not how big or perfect a gift is. It doesn’t matter to me what the gift is, and there doesn’t necessarily have to be a gift. The idea of people reaching out to each other is the more important quality.
