So even as I write I am feeling intense energy sensations that feel like electricity running through my body, and I had to write about this now while it’s still fresh. I did a Chacra meditation exercise, focusing my breathing and filling each chacra with energy and moving gradually up the spine for about 40 minutes. I then got this urge to start sending a pulse from whichever chacra I was working on down to the root chacra and back up. First I did it slowly and then let the energy pulse up and down at lighting speed. As the pulse traveled through my spine, it would ping each chacra and generate more energy as it passed through. Most of these feelings were mental though, sort of forced mentally.
However, when I reached my crown chacra, I began doing a deep breathing exercise that supposedly releases DMT in the brain: in through the mouth, out through mouth X2, then in through the nose, out through the nose X2. I did this for about 3 minutes when strong energy that felt like electricity began pulsating involutarily throughout my whole body. After five more minutes i opened my eyes and had to stop because it was too much. It felt like I was receiving a shock, involuntarily for about ten minutes afterwords. Now about fifteen minutes later, I feel something different. If you’ve ever looked at one of those videos of black and white lines running across a screen that creates and illusion that you’re moving forward, imagine the effect it has on your vision when you look away. Whatever you look at shifts in shape and distance. At least that’s what I have seen. Well I have no visual effects from this meditation but imagine that vision and that’s what my whole body feels like physically, changing and pulsating, like it isn’t quite solid on the inside.
Anything of you HEthens ever felt something like this? Something totally different? Please share so we can expand the knowledge, thanks :)
P.S. Just thought it may be relevant to say that I wasn’t on any substances and haven’t done drugs for months.
@learn, Your experience sounds like the beginning of a beautiful experience and I’m kind of upset you stopped :). . . When you release endogenous DMT you will be absolutely awestruck, it’s the most unusual consciously upsetting act I think anyone can achieve. It goes along with realizing the Nature of Mind, OBEs, NDEs, and death. That shock you talked about is your mind trying to protect you from that experience, it’s difficult to handle, but is easily overcome by practice. I must tell you, from my own experience, when you’re able to release DMT naturally, it’s like opening a door in your mind and taking it off its hinges or re-wiring your chemical content. In other words it sometimes does not stop, and can flush immediately and unexpectedly. It’s the most beautiful thing in this universe to experience peak mediation, it’s just the fear that arouses in the mind of uncertainty, mainly thoughts of going insane, must be disbanded.
Just my thoughts :)
@connerj93, Holy smokes you sound awesome! So you cant fully control when you release this chemical? Any advice from what it took you to get to this point?
@learn, I had a similar experience sitting on a stump once with the energy flowing up and down and it feels likes its in your whole body even your fingertips. And another time in my room. But like yours it went away without finishing the experience like connerj says..
@learn, You were in the vibrational stage of astral projection, which is where you leave your body. If you were to let go of your fear and embrace the vibrations, which actually feel AMAZING, I have even laughed out loud, or maybe it wasn’t out loud, not sure…, from them. Anyways, next time this happens enjoy it, go at it like a playful attitude and then direct your attention away from your body. Feel yourself levitate away, getting lighter and lighter and then BAM! You will most likely be “outside” your body into the Astral realm where everything responds to your thoughts.
Edit: I’ve been trying to have an OBE for a while now. I am going to try your method next time I do so!
@learn, I just tried this meditation, but I’m impatient so skipped right forward to the breathing exercises, and I will definitely be doing it again as these are the strongest vibrations I have felt without being high.
And I’m guessing it’s totally normal to feel vibrations and the like for a while after, seeing as I do too. If I’m lucky it lasts for a few days. It’s kind of awesome when it catches you unaware
You’re not releasing dmt through these meditations.
These breathing exercises do alter conciousness though, but a DMT flash? No.
@ballsackturtles23, It’s wiser to not be certain about most things. I can contradict what you are saying. From my own experience, I was able to have DMT-like experiences while in meditation. It was the same type of experience and expansion as when I took Ayahuasca or pure DMT. Heck, once, I even went to that DMT “place” while singing in a capoeira group.
Also, to those interested in this kind of stuff, I recommend you skip the new age wagon and follow a traditional approach via yoga, vedanta, or any form of buddhism etc. The new age meditations and practices are indeed powerful and do work but, without a solid framework to put things in perspective, you will be like a leaf in the wind, with no direction and at the mercy of the whims of experience/life/reality.
@ballsackturtles23, its possible DMT is released during this kind of meditation.. or rather the breakdown of DMT that is already floating around in the system is halted. Its been claimed to be the molecule responsible for dreaming or any visual images in the mind’s eye, which is highly debatable, but definitely my best understanding. It appears to me that conscious awareness is merely the result of the brain’s physical breakdown of molecules like DMT through the MAO system which is deactivated when you go to sleep or lose conscious awareness enough to have a ‘day dream’ ..
@learn, Ive had many similar experiences, lot’s of fun.. congrats!
@learn, ” It felt like I was receiving a shock, involuntarily for about ten minutes afterwords. Now about fifteen minutes later, I feel something different. Relating this to DMT is like relating a tricycle to a rocket ship.
“Guys I just did a wheelie it was nuts. I think I basically went to mars and back – yeah that just happened”
@connerj93, Funny that you would talk about going insane. During my last trip my mind was so focused on life that I felt I was going insane. I felt as though I couldn’t stop my mind and thought that my mind could just snap and I would be stuck in that state forever.
@ijesuschrist, You said, “Relating this to DMT is like relating a tricycle to a rocket ship.” Please give an explanation as to why?
After my last trip which was a couple weeks ago I have been feeling vibrations traveling through my body. It happens randomly. It happened today while I was in my Buddhism class and happened when I smoke pot.
*MAO isn’t deactivated when you sleep. Study your shit more.
@ballsackturtles23, nice jab, I see you haven’t come across any of the theories claiming DMT to be responsible for dreams. I cant say I have ‘scientific’ evidence to support this but that’s not to say I trust scientific study that denies it either. Draw your own conclusions, dont be ignorant. Youre exactly right about MAO metabolizing DMT which is why ayahuasca introducing an MAO blocker to prevent the metabolization.. can you deny that it could be possible for dreaming to be the result of halted metabolization?
