Possibly one of the most enlightening series of podcasts going. He does advertise his friends heavily initially but if you listen to his interview with Kevin Hogan and relationships I think you will find some really influential and spiritual advice.

This is quite interesting. I listened to fragments of it a while ago, I really should listen to the whole thing to see what it’s all about. It’s got three of my favourite things in the title, it’s got to be good.

Hmm. After listening for 30 minutes, I can say that I don’t like it. They talk about NLP but also use sneaky NLP on the listeners to get them to buy stuff or go to seminars or whatever.

Well yeah there is some of that but honestly if you can ignore that sort of thing the information given out is golden.

I’ve listened to it now and I don’t think it was that great. Just another one of those commercial advice things where they share a little info to try to make you buy their products to get more info which you could get from a plethora of books from various times and places, or for free on the internet. The info isn’t that great either, there are better choices.

I’m not saying it’s bad. Just that it has already been done better and thereby is superfluous.

@Ka Well, people who are good with nlp will probably use that for their own purposes, this is to be expected. But you noticed it so there’s no harm done, right?

@Manimal, There is harm done to other listeners and also, who knows how much of it I picked up and what went through to my unconscious without me noticing it. Their intentions are not honest and sincere and so I don’t want to listen to them, don’t want to be influenced in any way by them and don’t want to help them increase their “podcast views”. There are good, well-intentioned people out there and we should spend our time promoting them. We complain on this site about greed but we encourage it in others.

@Ka Just the answer I was looking for. People like this shouldn’t be supported, they shouldn’t be at all. They’re a scam, they only want to decieve people. This is why nlp is a threat, because most of the people who use it do so with bad intentions. It’s manipulation, it shouldn’t be.

NLP as a tool seems neutral tool to me, used foolishly by people with limited views, used wisely by people with good intentions.

Intention makes the difference when using NLP. And even if we know nothing about NLP, we are still unconsciously/consciously manipulating one another. So in the end, it’s all about the intention. Hmm, and it’s also about wisdom because we may have good intentions but if we use it unwisely, it may make things worse.

I was going to start a thread but after a quick search realized that I could hijack this one…

I’ve got some free time and am going to continue my research into both nlp and hypnosis, does anybody have any good titles or links?

(edit: currently reading, Trance-Formations: Neuro-Linguistic Programming and the Structure of Hypnosis. I recommend this book to anybody that finds that title the slightest bit interesting. Language is nuts.)
