Music, art and poetry… though they don’t work all of the time.

Humor and breathing. I tend to get over things very quickly.

Or maybe I just bottle them up subconsciously.

I’m like this guy ^ (edit: I meant the dude above Sasho) I rarely let things get to me very much. I sometimes almost feel ashamed not to be more affected by things but it’s a relief in a sense, Makes life quite easy. I did feel something very strongly when a schoolmate got a UWC scholarship that i applied for as well but got turned down on. It wasn’t destinct anger or dissapointment but a wierd mix of envy and ironic distance to the situation – plus of course I was happy for my friend – but GOD I wanted that scholarship bad! I felt like I missed my life on that one – but on the other hand i’ve got free school where I live and I even get economical support from the government so I have nothing to complain about. – I think the most effective weapon against anger, frustration, dissapointment, sorrow, you name it is humor. The abillity to take a few steps back from the situation and see it in a different light – a comedic light, seeing the situation as comedic allows you to abstract from the feelings that would otherwise get you down.

Is there another coping mechanism except Not giving a fuck?

Finding something to do… Usually for me that’s watching romantic comedies and eating chocolate.

Thinking about shit for longs periods of time. Listening to music. Sleeping, sometimes and Crying.

@beyond, “Not giving a fuck” is code for acceptance – the road to acceptance sometimes goes through shit like watching movies or listening to music. In other words Not giving a fuck is what you hope to achieve by abstracting from the “problem” and this thread is about different means of abstraction.

I generally go through a drinking faze mixed with a shit load of writing, drawing and painting. I tend to get my best stuff done when life is throwing shit at me.

@2bias, Giving too much of a fuck about stress is just letting more stress in the future. I always use to say “if you see a problem, you are part of it”. I think you defined avoidance and careless ignorance, escapism, not really the true nature of almighty Not Giving a Fuck. Which includes everything. Music, sports, writing, composing, playing. And if you do these things and still give a fuck, you’re not relieving stress at all. :) Because sometimes stress could be telling us what to listen to, what to do and how to do it.

Sometimes you gotta fucking rock. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YD2cP2pGUw

@beyond, What I was saying was that we are hardly all born Taoists with the abillity to accept everything at first. So sometimes we need to pass time until we are ready to accept the present. Not giving a fuck or rather accepting is the destination – means of escapism are the vehicle

I freewrite, and dont stop writing (or typing) until i find a solution. and by “freewrite”, i mean writing down EVERYTHING and anything that comes to mind. I always find a solution and it helps me vent. Its sort of a meditative experience for me.

Any kind of exercise really. Especially going on a run. Gives me time to think and I always feel better, clearer, and calmer afterwards.

I’ll write a poem or sing as loud as I can to my favorite songs. Or sometimes, I’ll play sports, typically basketball, because I always feel better when I can get some rage out.

Blues dancing. It’s the perfect balance of structure and free form, sociability and remoteness. It is a relaxed, laid back form of exercise and a no-pressure way to introduce a feeling of control back into your life. Under the sway of the music, you can become a siren- strutting and slinking your personality into the motions, or a submissive- reveling in the opportunity to relinquish all responsibilities and forget yourself, even if it’s only for a minute or three.

sometimes most people say they do not give a fuck and at the end of the day all they do is bottle up their emotions and one way or the other at that unknown time you will have to come face to face with your situation and even if you dont cry the element of stress will manifest in your mind.. so the best way to cope with stress is to come face to face with it and accept your defeat and tell yourself that u cant achieve all you want… resorting to drugs and other harmuful things will just lead you through another path that has no purpose… so in conclusion… wen e world shits in your face grab a tissue wipe it of and say.. IS THAT ALL YOU GOT BITCH
