This is crazy timing because I just went to the store yesterday and got a bunch of frozen fruit and spinach to make smoothies with. I made one about half hour ago with a banana, kiwi, frozen raspberries, spinach and vanilla soy milk. I was planning on doing a “cleanse” of sorts as well and just drinking fruits/veggies for a while, but the Chinese buffet is calling my name. :(

oh ellie. let it call… if you start the cleanse then those thoughts will fade into the background. i have now stopped coffee and chocolate and my nitely joint. so those habits will fade out…
it will make you feel light and good. your shake sounds super. i just made one with advocado, honey, maple syrup, bee pollen and water!
incredible the concoctions we can come up with!

That sounds good. I bought avocados for mine too… I’ve still never had a smoothie with an avocado but it sounds good!

How can you say no to sushi?!

[Hidden]
stonedragon (143) (@stonedragon21) 9 years, 10 months ago ago

i can. i got sick this summer on bad sushi. i was driving home and had to stop the car on the highway and barf. no to sushi. anyway it is raw, so if you are gonna do a raw cleanse, do it on the first day, then next day just fruits and salads, then the juices.
this advocado brought me back to life. i was fading fast here!

how can you put spinach in a smoothie, but not avocado? My wife puts kale in her smoothies. I like kale, but in a smoothie? not so much.

stonedragon that liverflush is delicious, I use the same recipe when I fast.

anyway I am already getting to the bottom of my first cup of coffee, and I promised my mom we’d go to her church’s fish fry tonight . . . so I have to start this “tomorrow” (yeah yeah I know tomorrow never comes).

great reminder stonedragon. I’m in! Tomorrow. Really!

Flax seed is a good idea, I’m gonna throw that in my next one.
Some of my favorite healthy stuff to eat:
Hummus with broccoli, carrots, or cauliflower.
Garlic cauliflower baked in the oven(shake it up in a bag with oil first.)
Shrimp mixed up with mushrooms, onions, and tomatoes, all cooked. Sometimes also with green beans or black beans.

I do it too… and I love every second of it. haha

Sauce, I either use Sri Racha(really really spicy and amazing) or I find that when I cook tomatoes in oil for long enough it sorta turns into sauce on its own.

stonedragon (143) (@stonedragon21) 9 years, 10 months ago ago

oh my GOD! that does sound good. all that food, the fish fry, the brocolli, the shrimps. stop!
anyway im glad you guys are getting inspired. this cleanse thing really is great. afterwards you have so much energy it is crazy, and you feel so light and its a good chance to break some bad habits.

the liver flush drink, i put about one sqeezed lemon with the same amount of olive oil, one garlic clove crushed in, and some grated fresh ginger and a sprinkling of cayenne. it is a bit hard core.
follow it up with some herbal tea. im drinking a mixture of angelica, rosemary, oregeno, red vine, myrtille berry, sage and turmeric…

im putting bee pollen, chia seeds, spriulina in the shakes and psyllium husk which swells up in your gut and makes you less hungry.but you need to drink a lot of water afterwards to swish it down. the frozen berrys are great too with apple juice. yum , dinner time. !

shelby i guess you could order them online. i got them at a healthfood store in maryland, in the vitamin section. they had huge bags of them, and about 5 different brands to choose from, and not expensive now. if you cant get them, check online, they send stuff in a few days to any place.

it is day 5 now and im feeling lots better, with tons of energy and my mind is clear. i could remember my dreams again for the first time in a month. must be cuz i stopped that night joint. im not even craving food, it is like that is all past me now.

I’ve been wanting to do some sort of cleanse for a while but I’m kind of a picky eater. This week is spring break for me and it seems like a good time to start. It’s kind of a party week so I will be indulging a little, but in the way of food and exercise I can start now. I’m kind of skeptical about vitamins and supplements, any advice on that? Money is also an issue with my diet, I would love to just buy a whole bunch of fruit and eat that all day but that’s not really an option.

Good luck to everyone else!

@Tyler

Supplements suck ass. If you want vitamins just get a bunch of fruit, seaweed, spinach, broccoli n apple cider vinegar. Meat is pretty much out of the question when detoxin but when youre not purgin meat n eggs is a good source of everything. Nuts n seeds are super too but dont eat too much of these cuz they fuck with your fatty acid ratios.

Food is cheap. Dont worry. An since your cleansin you wont be eatin that much anyway. Keep every meal small n simple. Just a fruit or veggie or two. Oranges n pineapples are great choices n theyr not expensive. You dont have to buy these organic cuz they have thick layers of protection (tho organic has more nutrition.) A pineapple is a pretty good breakfast and it costs like a dollar or something. Remember that these things are huge and very filling. Thats cheap. Its got enough sugar to keep your energy up for a while n its got some awsom micronutrients.

When your not cleansing you should focus on fat n protein. Eggs are the #1 food n theyre very cheap.

ANybody have suggestions for good smoothie recipes? I’m talking ingredients and how much to put in, etc…I want to start making them. All I have is a basic blender too.

@Bridget – Soy milk is amazing in smoothies…adds sweetness and a bit of smoothness to the tanginess of the fruit

day 8 now. i have made it back to eating salads , thru those 3 days of only juices. but i made some amazing smoothies like shelby suggested, and i added chia seeds and sesame seeds as well and bee pollen. i feel super great now and i lost a bit of fat , i can fit back into my jeans again which is great after the winter.
good luck with this everyone, im glad you are all catching on. and money wise really it costs less than eating all that other usleless junk we dont need,. think about it, bread, butter, cheese, coffee, coke, chocolate,
give yourself a holiday and break all those habits.

last nites salad was the best,
grated carrot and apple, mango, cucumber chunks and lemon and a dash of olive oil. crunch crunch. appreciation of the act of chewing again!

Im really laughin out loud at all the people talkin bout soy in a cleanse thread. If youre gonna cleanse you better stay away from that poison. Soy is like the worst shit you could possibly eat.

Brain damage, breast cancer n testicular failure are just a few of the INEVITABLE results of eatin soy. The brain damage happens very fast n doesnt require a lot of soy. If you eat soy frequently your brain definitely IS damaged but its not to late to fix that. If you keep on eatin tgat shit sooner or later you brain damage will be permanent.

I feel the beginnings of a cold coming on…If I had a blender I would love to make some of these suggested smoothies. Thankfully I have a Jamba Juice nearby :) I think i’ll go mostly frozen or raw these next few days instead of going right for the comfort food like I usually do.

hi just to tell you the results of my cleanse and how i feel now.
well it has been about two weeks that i finished my 10 day challange, and now im just eating perhaps one grated carrot for dinner, a bit of brown rice, and avocado. small bits fill me up. have not had any meat, cow products at all, no butter or milk or cheese. and no coffee.
i was a serious coffee adict and tea also . no urge, infact i tryed a few sips and my heart went racing!
and i found a great site called the Earth Diet check it out. a girl who was a junk food addict came to this. you can make your own chocolate and it is good for you!
my knee no longer hurts, that is the greatest news of all.
so get down to doing this those of you who want to , it is really worth it,!
