Task: Amazing speech to be made viral!

This is the kind of video that should be spreading across the internet like wildfire instead of that propaganda video (KONY 2012) everyone has been spreading lately. If this amazing speech by Charlie Chaplin would receive the same kind of attention, that would be amazing. You know 6.7 million views is a lot, but it’s nothing compared to Justin Bieber’s Baby’s 718 million views, I mean come on people – we owe it to ourselves and to Charlie Chaplin to at least surpass a song which mainly consists of the words "baby, baby, baby oh!"

Make this shit viral!

Think it actually is going viral, it popped up all over my FB feed a few weeks ago.

Word. Awesome Task. Will do.

I completely agree that it would help if we play off the Kony 2012 de-momentum. I mentioned something like this “If Kony 2012 should get 80 million hits, this should get 500 million hits. Inspiring Video. Please Check Out.”

Gosho (50) (@gosho) 10 years, 6 months ago ago

What’s the significance of that how many hits a video has? That is total bullshit. The video was good but come on, you think you would change the world by posting it on Facebook?

[Hidden]
Peter (152) (@searchingforthetruth) 10 years, 6 months ago ago

Huh? Don’t be real. The significance is how many times the video has been watched. It’s bullshit that you think you have zero power to influence the world. Who is brainwashed?

This video has been viral for a long time. Years actually. I have it as an mp3 on my ipod, I listen to it when I need inspiration. Charlie Chaplin was a passionate man who believed comedy was an important part of happiness and he wanted to make others happy, therefore he did comedy. Great Man. One of my idols.

such a great video! I saw it once before a while ago but haven’t thought about it in a while. His words are even truer now than all those decades ago, words to live by.

@Gosho, the things we watch and listen to reflect our culture and mentality – our values. Therefore, it would be a great change if videos such as the one I posted would get as much attention as the videos which currently dominate popular culture. It would be a cultural infiltration.

Gosho (50) (@gosho) 10 years, 6 months ago ago

Culture. Values. Society.

Is that what we are fighting for?

It’s true and unfortunately very old, so what does that say? It’s about dictatorship. The movie is called “The Great Dictator”. People are getting brainwashed to be greedy. The video is naive, although powerful and moving. I’ve seen it a lot of times when it was shared by Anonymous supporters, but a positive change won’t happen if we’re acting like people pleasers. Pleasing everyone is part of Pop culture. This video is part of pop culture. Not part of the real world. Sadly, today facebook is a very big part of the real world and even when people have the time to think what to say… they mess up. Why do they mess up? Because someone expects a fucking lot from them. Bullshit. I’m getting way sidetracked here. The system/the wheel is spinning every day for us to act like pleasing everybody is the right way to go. I’m gonna paraphrase this: Act.
Skepticism, we meet again.

@Phil
W. Why would someone remove an artist from society? A lot of the greatest artists are already not part of society. Which is funny, because named best actor in the world Marlon Brando hated Charlie Chaplin. He also hated John Wayne for making native Americans look like bad guys. It’s great to see great people and not the same opinions, right?
Don’t be naive. Even people who listen to great speeches forget about them.

@FeralOne, ever heard of critical thinking?

[Hidden]
Gosho (50) (@gosho) 10 years, 6 months ago ago

@Sasho said it. Even if the video gets 234,000,000 views, it’s just a video. People watch it, get kind of excited and soon it’s all passed, they have forgotten about everything and returned to their previous patterns…

@FeralOne I wouldn’t say I’m fighting for anything. I try to get what I need without the use of force. What you are trying to do is to force people to change, which never works. Change comes from within. If you want to make the world a better place, start by making yourself better. Can’t help others if you haven’t helped yourself.

” I try to get what I need without the use of force. ” @Gosho, could you spill more on that?
EDIT: god that video is the truth.

I’d recommend the book “Power versus Force”, I think Martijn had posted about it somewhere. Anyway, to elaborate, the idea is that there are given attractor patterns which are what we view as ideas and mind states. They are classified as being either weak or strong. Some of the weak patterns are shame, fear, apathy, anger (anger is a bit stronger, each of them is not the same in terms of power), some of the strong ones are reason, courage, love, joy. When you are linked to higher attractor fields you have more power and vice versa – weak fields decrease your power.

Intentions and actions are the way you do what you want to do. When these actions correspond to the mind state you are in, then they are effortless. If you feel unconditional love towards the Universe then it is the easiest thing in the world to forgive someone. On the other hand, if you hate everybody then even if you force yourself to forgive it will be hard and the outcome might not be good, unless you have changed your mind state and linked with a higher energy field.

The British Empire in the beginning of the 20th century was based on selfishness and greed. It represented weak attractor patterns and used force to fulfill its needs. Colonial India in the face of Gandhi was linked to strong attractor patterns in the face of self-sacrifice and freedom. That is true power. This is how some bare-footed and underfed indian people managed to overcome the british rule of weapons and armor. Power eventually defeats force.

If you want love, then love! Love yourself, love your friends, your family, your neighbors, even the strangers you meet every day! Love the Universe and it will love you. Same goes for everything else. The way you are treating it is the way you are going to be treated. The way you want to feel is going to be the way you feel. Be strong!

thanks Gosho! “Love yourself, love your friends, your family, your neighbors, even the strangers you meet every day!” most of the time i go out i try to keep a smile on my face – not a huge grin, but a pleasant face or a frown, and i try to bounce off my smile off other people, look them in the eye and think ‘hey i know you, we’re not that different at all.. here’s my love :)” Haha

@Gosho, I really agree with you on not forcing change, because it has to come from within and because, as Richard Buckminster Fuller but it:

“You never change things by fighting the existing reality.
To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”

But that’s not what I’m trying to do. Not trying to force anyone, just trying to plant a positive and helpful seed – I think we can both agree that the video and its message are great. I thought the video might help people, who are stuck in their everyday rutines, discover something more to life, you know. That life doesn’t have to be this way.

I don’t understand where your hostility is coming from.

oh FeralOne, you needn’t be so put off by these words… we are all speaking the truth. watching the video made me cry, and its not the first time i am watching it – i had shared it on fb long back.
“I don’t understand where your hostility is coming from.” – to thaT i say, https://www.highexistence.com/discussions/topic/its-not-always-about-you/
:) thaT is the truth too! please dont take offence but it is just a super coincidence i had to point out. i appreciate from my heart, acts of kindness like your post… nobody is pointing fingers here thats all :D <3

Nah, I think Gosho is missing the point. Weak forces and strong forces are a by product of the thoughts implemented by the conscious choices of the individual. Gosho is offputting the purpose of sharing the video with his choice of questioning “how this would work” without really constructively thinking…thus making his emotions become the stronger force..and convincing people that there is no purpose to it.

Gosho-
“@Sasho said it. Even if the video gets 234,000,000 views, it’s just a video. People watch it, get kind of excited and soon it’s all passed, they have forgotten about everything and returned to their previous patterns…”

You are marginalizing this…your negative pessimistic views are becoming the “strong force” you speak about.

[Hidden]
Gosho (50) (@gosho) 10 years, 6 months ago ago

@Peter I agree its a marginalized way that I chose to look at this “situation” but I think you are drawing wrong assumptions and conclusions about my views which are certainly not negative or pessimistic. When I decide to speak out loud (or in the case – type a post) on a given issue I take a stance and make a point out of it. Otherwise I would be talking pointless nonsense. Of course, I can take any stance I want – I can be on either side, because I am actually on neither – but I use polarity to convey a certain message (which is maybe something not always working). In this case I took the stance that a video is not something worthy of spending so much energy about and sharing it is hardly going to make a change. I am saying this because of the whole idea of this web-site. If we were on Facebook/twitter/whatever then I wouldn’t even bother (actually I don’t use any of those “social networks”), but we are on HighExistence. People here are supposed to be thriving for personal development in all areas. Defying the patterns which have been imprinted on them for so long. Changing and aiming to be the best of themselves.

Would the best of you be increasing the overall human consciousness level by sharing a video on facebook?

Megan Wilson (5) (@poefan2490) 10 years, 6 months ago ago

I share HE on facebook. A much better use of my time, and I hope it inspires someone somewhere and wakes them up a bit. =)

[Hidden]
FeralOne (37) (@paradoxone) 10 years, 6 months ago ago

This was not aimed at people here on HighExistence, but at those who have yet to reach this “high.” Of course, the best way to increase overall human consciousness level isn’t sharing a video, but hey, it’s a something – and I’m pretty sure sharing a video wouldn’t hurt anyone. Anyways, who mentioned facebook? To reach those still in the “matrix,” you have to enter the matrix.
