The Awakening of a Dreamer and How I (and you) Can Affect Some Real Change

Eric (@blankey)8 years, 2 months ago

What can I do to affect some real positive change in my own community and eventually the global community?

This question has sort of been mulling around in my head for the past few years, ever since I went through my “awakening”, I’d say. A few years ago, in my Junior year of high school I severely broke my arm and went through a depression. This experience rapidly changed me to who I am today. I would almost say it was a little “bump” in my personal evolution. I went from a kid who did not care for books, didn’t find myself to be too intelligent, and didn’t give two thoughts about society and the Earth as whole, to having 12 books being read at once, all Non-Fiction, mainly philosophy, some on physics, metaphysics etc. Not only that but I started to use the free knowledge within the global social brain we have created, the internet, to my advantage via videos, documentaries, articles, wikipedia, free online classes, etc.

This all led me down the road to where I am now. At the end of my Fall Quarter of college I had this intense, passionate inner urge to go out and really see the world. This inner urge was always present, but one night it boiled to a breaking point.

I had to act.

I was walking around my secluded campus at night, listening to M83’s new album, “Hurry Up We’re Dreaming”, which was a very fitting album to be listening to as the past few weeks I had been having some intense dreams (some of which you can read about here), and suddenly I saw the possibilities. I am the driver of this thing called life. I can go wherever, whichever way I want. I am not bound by what I tell myself I am. I felt the Universe being my extension and me being IT’s. IT being one process, and I am that IT. With the right set of consciousness, I could achieve anything.

** (Oh and just a note, if there’s one thing I’ve learned from Lucid Dreaming it’s that your life has a sort of “script” to it that you build up in your mind and it is there only if you let it be, therefore it is an illusion. You create it out of nothing, through your mind. All you really are doing is this moment, not what you will and or did. Once you realize this you are free to create your own roadshow. Infinite possibilities await. ) **

So here I am today. On my own for the first time, working, photography as a passion, traveling my destination, and Thailand for my first of that. I want to see the world and share it with you. But mainly, I want to try and show people that they can dream to and through that, we can all dream together and make our dreams become reality.

What is it that I will do now?

I have a few things on the list…

1. Start community gardens open to anyone and everyone. I am currently formulating a plan to do so. (just saw this and now want to make this a reality, so…why not?)

2. I’m addicted to Facebook. I’ll admit it. I’ve been trying to kick the habit of checking it multiple times a day, but I just can’t seem to help it. There is just too much positive, philosophical, inspirational quotes and pictures from things I subscribe to. I then had the idea to make REAL walls my Facebook wall. I am going to use my photography skills and create some inspirational photos that I can plaster over walls throughout any city.

3. Follow my passion and my intuition. Whatever makes me feel alive.

^^My first photoshopped photo. Just something I may put up around town.

Oh and by the way, this idea was sparked by Exit Through the Gift Shop. Great documentary if you’ve never seen it.

Have fun driving through life ;)

@blankey, love the TED video for sure.

I have a passion for food and cooking and have wanted to start my own garden for some time. I should have done if a while ago. I just started traveling the country staying in a place for a few months at a time so I don’t plan on getting my own garden until I settle down in whichever state I choose. I think the guerrilla gardening is an awesome idea but first to find heirloom seeds. If you have a website for that please share.

I relate a lot to what u said also because I too have a passion for photography. Just got my first camera I ever owned lol a nice dslr. Anyways keep that up its awesome.

And lastly I am on fb all fucking day and sometimes I feel like I shouldn’t be but I use it for different reasons that most. All the articles and videos and such that I find I share in hopes of awakening someone else. I have found many like minded people that way in my friends that I didn’t know we’re as open minded. Plus now I work at home on the computer all day so it’s hard not to be on fb.

I hope you follow your dreams of the gardening and photography I think it’s awesome. Maybe I will run into you on my travels. What city are you planning on starting this in? Ill be going east coast to west coast in the fall.
