the child show avatar explains chakra basics

 Tine (@tine) 7 years, 7 months ago

the following is ten minutes long and is surprisingly informative. i found this while following links on youtube, i understand there is much more depth and context involved with chakras and their understanding, but do you think this is a pretty good introduction to the subject?

Lol, that ending killed me :) “facebook.com/IDon’tTrustTheGovernement”

Avatar has always had good spiritual references. I think the writers did a really good job of researching and incorporating that content into the show. The air nomads in it are supposed to resemble a mixture of tibetan and shaolin monks I think, or something similar. The different bending styles are based on real martial art styles too.

Using animation to illustrate abstract concepts is a really good way to introduce people to it because it gives them a really visual, “easy to understand” imagery to wrap their heads around and take in better. A good example of this is Jason Silva’s Shots of Awe. If his videos weren’t as good as they are, I don’t think as many people would be interested in them, mainly because of the philosophical content. Not everyone is stimulated by philosophy at first glance, but when spruce it up with some badass video editing, it’s like putting chocolate on broccoli or something, yknow :) Unappealing before, but now that you mix in with something good, it becomes more appealing to others.

But yea, I’d say it’s a good intro. Avatar: Legend of Korra Season 2 – “Spirits” was a nice intro to the spiritual as well. It’s like the matrix…. if you know what I mean.

I enjoyed that. It has reignited my desire to try and open my chakras. I have always started getting into learning about them and then for some reason moved on without learning much. Time to really try this time.

Tine (366) (@tine) 7 years, 7 months ago ago

yea, ive been following this take on it, i already had a chakra rotation where i would experience the sensations of the various chakras by mentally rotating through them, but this video added the much needed psychological context bc, for me, focusing on the sensation alone def provided temporary mental relief, but for long term positive consequences and application i needed to understand why my chakras were the way they were, so to think: fear, guilt, shame, loss, lies, illusion, earthly attachment, while feeling the chakras at the time, i was able to achieve quite a provide energy spike that shot up my spine and rattled my skull for awhile. I plan on doing this quick chakra rotation (2mins) 3-4 times a day until the sensation of them becomes my new norm

Sounds interesting. I had my first chakra meditation today, just listening to a guided one from youtube. It was nice, I had brief moments of euphoria, but I know I need to make it a daily practice to really notice and see the benefits. I am going to keep balancing and cleansing them and hope to really feel the results. Best of luck to you. Peace.

lot of essential lessons to learn in Naruto Shippuuden…especially from Itachi-kun.

[Hidden]
Tine (366) (@tine) 7 years, 7 months ago ago

man o man, the whole Pain part, from what Pain metaphorically and literally represented combined with that style of frenzied animation .. ive watch those 3-4 episodes several times now

[Hidden]
KoMaCarpe (92) (@KoMaCarpe) 7 years, 7 months ago ago

=)several times= >100 times for me^^ Pain is the best freaking anime “chapter” Ive ever watched.

[Hidden]
Tine (366) (@tine) 7 years, 7 months ago ago

rite ? his words were pretty profound when considering human motivation in general … and that anime style, omg, those animators are a fucking great team, i hope they make Naruto ( adult version )

[Hidden]
KoMaCarpe (92) (@KoMaCarpe) 7 years, 7 months ago ago

When Pain rides the water waves, chased by a furious fuckin ninetail:) chills running down my spine…the whole fight is so beautiful!

[Hidden]
Tine (366) (@tine) 7 years, 7 months ago ago

man … when he xformed into the ninetails … wow, especially the setup leading to his freakout , i could relate to that kind of rage from sadness , very intense, loved, loved, the talk he had with Pain to, so relevant to the human condition in general

[Hidden]
KoMaCarpe (92) (@KoMaCarpe) 7 years, 7 months ago ago

Indeed! The more you point it out the more I feel the chills running down my spine just from thinking about it:). Its crazy how emotional it gets me.

Btw, you should watch this youtubevideo by a guy called “loosecontroipl” – its an “anime music story video” about naruto, one piece, fairy tail, Soul eater, bleach, FMA etc. Its really epic with a lot of great quotes in it.

Tine (366) (@tine) 7 years, 7 months ago ago

id love to make an adult anime (either help animate or create the story line) that was considered ‘adult’ not because of the extreme, groteque violence or how many tits and sexual situations it has, but bc of its depth, complexity, and relevance to society…. and course there has to be amazing action <– Must

[Hidden]
KoMaCarpe (92) (@KoMaCarpe) 7 years, 7 months ago ago

Woooord. That would be so awsome. There are a few of these adult animes already out there to DL in case u’ve missed them:

– Berserk (of course)
– Claymore
– Samurai Champloo
– Black Lagoon
– Darker than black (kinda adult)

At least give claymore and BL a try…U will thnak me later:)

[Hidden]
Tine (366) (@tine) 7 years, 7 months ago ago

i have several storyline ideas i could develope upon, i just need to learn more about the animation process, and since i dont know shit (atm) the animation would prolly be best left to someone who knows what they are doing for awhile

[Hidden]
Tine (366) (@tine) 7 years, 7 months ago ago

i really think there would be a hungry audience for it too, a generation of Dragonball and now Naruto fans are becoming adults, they would love a more serious, dynamic, adult story and action

Axis (10) (@oceanis) 7 years, 7 months ago ago

I remember when I first watched those episodes with Pain challenging Naruto’s world-view. I was much younger, and what he was telling Naruto made me question how any form of peace could be attained. I was actually way more interested in what Naruto’s answer would be, rather than the fighting, for once.

[Hidden]
Tine (366) (@tine) 7 years, 6 months ago ago

o for sure, i totally remember the part you mean, ”you who has no answer!”, in a lot of ways the villians of naruto have taught me a lot about myself, and naruto himself and how he is shares all the villians attributes except for his care for others, hes extreme, hes violent, he doesnt follow the rules, but he cares, and that is the part that makes him stronger than everyone else, how much he cares, which is similiar to how much a villian doesnt care

[Hidden]
hello (113) (@smortlur51) 7 years, 7 months ago ago

you should definitely watch it, I love that show. Like many “kids” shows, there are lots of parallels you can draw to some very adult oriented shit

KevinSG (105) (@flyingrhino) 7 years, 7 months ago ago

Avatar was an amazingly deep cartoon. One of the few cartoons I recommend people to watch with thought.

[Hidden]
Tine (366) (@tine) 7 years, 7 months ago ago

got any more suggestion, i love deep anime

[Hidden]
KoMaCarpe (92) (@KoMaCarpe) 7 years, 7 months ago ago

there are a bunch of them: Naruto Shippuuden (of course), FMA (of course), Black lagoon is very deep in its own contemporary way though not necessarily spiritual, Dragon Ball of course, Darker than black treats the existential issue, Hunter X Hunter etc.

[Hidden]
Tine (366) (@tine) 7 years, 7 months ago ago

hm, ive actually seen all of those =) have you seen ghost in the shell: stand alone complex ?

[Hidden]
KoMaCarpe (92) (@KoMaCarpe) 7 years, 7 months ago ago

I tried to watch it for a while but to be honest it wasnt really my thing. I sort of thought it was too hard to follow the fast lined dialouges since my english isnt quite good enough for it.
I just gotta throw out Claymore and samurai Champloo:) in case you havent seen two of the most epic animes.

Avatar is fucking awesome. I assure you it’s not a simple “child show”, it has many references to real life spirituality and stuff…

[Hidden]
Tine (366) (@tine) 7 years, 7 months ago ago

o for sure, i enjoy naruto shipp for the same reasons, i was just staying true to the youtube vid title so to not try to act like i made the vid

[Hidden]
Manimal (2,998) (@manimal) 7 years, 7 months ago ago

Nah it’s not very informative.

Beside, there is nothing unique about this. Many sci fi and fantasy films/shows explain spiritual concepts such as chakras. It’s common.

[Hidden]
Tine (366) (@tine) 7 years, 7 months ago ago

right, but i was presenting this as simply one of many different introductory mediums for the idea of chakras, what was unique about this clip was the simplicity, how someone without knowledge of the material could be drawn in by the cartoon medium, the silly presentation, and the simplicity of explanation to a subject wrought with many false directions. dont be grumpy =)

[Hidden]
Tine (366) (@tine) 7 years, 7 months ago ago

give it some cred, i know its not an indepth study of chakras, but as a introduction…

[Hidden]
Manimal (2,998) (@manimal) 7 years, 7 months ago ago

Well, what makes you think these directions aren’t false?

And why would I give it cred for copying a bunch of other shows and games? Seriously, this theme is very common in many quite popular releases, especially stuff made in -or inspired by stuff made in- Japan.

[Hidden]
Tine (366) (@tine) 7 years, 7 months ago ago

i see what you are saying, but i dont think this is them trying to claim the process as a Avatar creation, i think the writers have taken an already-created-system and have adapted a simple version of it into their storyline,

and the part i am pointing is the fact that the chakras simplicity shown in the video, surprisingly, in a simple way, has given a basic description of chakras

i know you could prolly always find some sort of aspect of the what they are saying to disagree with, but if you are disagreeing with the accuracy, can you give an example ? i definitely do not want to be passing along the wrong kinda info, what part of it was inaccurate ? what each chakra represents ?

lol, why dont you like japanese inspirations ? not even sushi ?

[Hidden]
Manimal (2,998) (@manimal) 7 years, 7 months ago ago

I wasn’t saying they were claiming credit. I said that you were, and you can’t deny that you were, if you read what you posted.

“adapted a simple version of it into their storyline”

-Adapted? Nah, just copy-pasting.

“and the part i am pointing is the fact that the chakras simplicity shown in the video, surprisingly, in a simple way, has given a basic description of chakras”

-Just like hundreds of popular Japanese cartoons, games and comics have over the last couple of decades.

“what part of it was inaccurate?”

-Depends how you look at it. The notion of 7 chakras is just one variation of the teachings. As for what they represent, this also varies a bit between different teachings and relays. How they work and what they are, that also varies with each branch of the teachings.

“lol, why dont you like japanese inspirations ? not even sushi ?”

-I’ve told you many times before and I’m telling you again, you gotta work on your reading comprehension.

Not once did I say I didn’t like Japan-inspired fiction or anything like that, in fact I grew up with manga and jrpgs and loved it.

[Hidden]
Tine (366) (@tine) 7 years, 7 months ago ago

” Adapted? Nah, just copy-pasting. ” siiggh, i meant adapted as in made it compatibly simple for their universe

“Not once did I say I didn’t like Japan-inspired fiction or anything like that”

youre right, i misread, thats good to hear actually, what kinda anime did you enjoy the most ? as in styles and specific examples

[Hidden]
Manimal (2,998) (@manimal) 7 years, 7 months ago ago

Lots of other stories have already made it more than simple enough.

No genre in particular, as long as it had lots of action. I don’t remember the names of the series except Berserk and Silverfang. It was a long time ago.

As for talking about the chakras, we’ve already been over that stuff at least once.

im more interested in information on the exploration of, meditative practices that apply the concept of chakras that you might use or know of, but if you dont have any further info i understand

i know you dont owe me or have to do anything for me, but reading this makes more even more interested, im trying to hit the chakra idea from many different perspectives,

would you be interested in sharing some of your chakra knowledge in a post ? im sure others would also be interested in your persepctive on this, or, if not a thread, then maybe expand upon it a lil in a msg with me ?
