One of the most beautiful songs I have heard lately is a remix of the theme song from Inception. Here’s a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Se5NBKNcsy4
What songs/artists do you love?
Slowly going through this thread — not easy with some of you guys listing tens of great bands at a time!
Has anyone ever heard of Steven Wilson and his music? I really like Porcupine Tree and his latest solo work and Storm Corrosion (with Opeth’s Storm Corrosion). He’s one of my favourite musicians, everything he makes is pure gold. His B-sides are better than his ordinary records! :O
For you to get an idea, he’s into slightly darker music, with heavy progressive rock and metal influences. Lately though he mixes it up with noise, electronic and… well… weird stuff. :)
In love with this song these days, in particular:
@nickc2007, In another topic about music you asked ‘anyone out here a raver?’ Anyway, lets continue in here: from time to time (mostly in the weekend) I make a complete transformation from a normal, ordinary student to a BEAST heheh. No just kidding, but yeaah, I discovered the ‘rave’ scene like two years ago and it is amazing! I am in the techno, techhouse, deephouse, minimal and everything alike scene. At parties I prefer techhouse/techno rather than deephouse (dependent on my mood and what kind of substances I have taken obviously).
What about you? Here a great techhouse set: http://soundcloud.com/eclecticmusic/eclectic-set-2012
Please read the lyrics. I don’t understand it. Almost all in major chords, super happy – but he’s killing someone.
@tteotdead, YES, Quantic and SBTRKT are awesome! I really like that type of music, it doesn’t carry the weight of lyrics, so you can just listen to it without associating the songs with certain ideas or memories, this is especially true in Quantic.
I didnt read through this topic, and I dont know if they’ve been mentioned, but even if every word in this thread was Phish, they still deserve to be mentioned again. I dont know where to begin as far as songs go, but I’ll rattle them off:
You Enjoy Myself
Sample In A Jar
Theme From the Bottom
Wading in the Velvet
The Moma Dance
If tomorrow I was told I could only listen to Phish for the rest of my life, I think I would be okay with it. Other than Phish, I recommend the soundtrack to O Brother, Where Art Thou. That’s like “Intro to post Civil War American Folk”, Jose Gonzalez, Soul Coughing, Parliament, Funkadelic, and Sly and the Family Stone. That’s about what my musical diet is at the moment.
@alexandriabee, I am not really into dubstep, I have been a few times to a club with dubstep music (e.g. Cookie Monsta as performance) but everytime I got out, I needed new clothes or new bones, so I got out of it pretty quickly. However, I do like to turn on some raw dubstep from time to time, like Cookie Monsta – Ginger Pubes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpMza3Nwe-E or Excision & Datsik ft Liquid – Get To The Point: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29uSjbT98es
However I prefer Techno like The Advent ft Industrialyzer – Terra Nosa http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=damyZQ6sf20
Or Deephouse like ehmm Pillowtalk – Soft (Life & Death Remix) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uje15Ov0HNU more relaxing, chill turn on at home music
Or Techhouse like Flashmob – Brick House http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUN7-pLXBao
Chris James – On & On (Manik Remix) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFjlIFrPnMQ (great tune to put in a mix btw)
Or Minimal like Format B – Redux http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkYo8oBR5e8
@jordan, If you listen to that remix of the Time song while watching the video The Known Universe by AMNH, it’s quite possibly one of the most mind blowing experiences. Granted, I was pretty high when I did it, it will still be cool sober. Just make sure when the video first shows the picture of the mountains, have the Time song start playing at the point where the dialogue has just finished and the music is just beginning, and you should be good to go! Oh! Don’t forget to mute the video!
