The dream of making a difference.

temillr (@temillr) 8 years, 10 months ago

The moment when your thoughts start to overrun your mind and everything else disappears. You fall into the deepest part of your soul. You have an inherent need to change the world, to make a difference, to matter. You sit there. All of your ideas and dreams consuming your mind, and you start to convince yourself these things are achievable. You become bound and determined to change the world. Then some terrible distraction comes about and pulls you back into the dull grip of reality. As these thoughts start to recede into the dark corners of your mind, you tell yourself to stop dreaming so big. You’re just the same as anyone else, why could you make a difference? In the bottom of your heart you still hold onto the idea that those dreams achievable. You hope that maybe there are others out there feel the same way.

I guess I’m just curious if anyone knows, or understands what I mean.

@temillr, I understand.

Fight to be the person you aspire to become. We can do it together. I’m amidst a dream of my own right now (attempting to “make it” rapping). People can snicker and doubt all they want (notice how they tend to do it from afar) but that just adds fuel to the fire. I know I can AND WILL execute this dream of mine. And to ensure so, I’ve set deadlines for pertinent projects and production and whatnot. It helps to focus my efforts. Gotta hold yourself accountable for all the potential you know you have.

Yes, I know exactly what you mean. Until I started to study my architecture thesis, which I chose to study something that I’m very passionately for: changing the world using my love for architecture. No more fear to the opportunity that I gave to myself. Changing the world through what we are most passionately about is the most self fulfilling experience that you can have.

I hope that you discover what you’re most passionately about, and, through that, change the world.

@temillr, I try and do my part. I try and spread positive ideas to other, and I always will. But to change the world, means to change peoples perspectives as well. This I feel is very difficult. I feel that all throughout history there have been two sides: People who truly want to change the world, and everyone else. I feel like its a yin-yang type of relationship though, the two forces balance each other. If the world changers were non-existed, human-kind would have exterminated itself long ago. I feel that now that we are in the age of technology, we will start living for the better and become more of a positive global community.

@temillr, You are not alone. I guess most of us are here (on HE) because of that feeling, or at least something similar.

This world WILL grow into a better place, simply because things cannot stagnate like this anymore. Everything sucks just too much :)) And luckily there are people who actually DO something about it.
Perhaps you’ve seen it around here but didn’t check it yet, you should:

This article is really awesome and worth reading!
This is just part 1, but you’ll see there is more.

Thanks you guys, I guess it just seems like my ideas get a little crazy sometimes and fade aways because of everyday life.

@optimystic, I think you said it pretty well, you know your own potential. At least I know I’m not the only one with similar ideas.

@maa22, That is really great! I think that is amazing that you found what you love to do and are using it to your advantage. I am into journalism and design. I really want to write/design a book that tells peoples life stories. Just everyday people, people who often go unheard from. I believe that everyone has a story that deserves to be heard.

@iambrian, I had never thought of it like that before, but I think you have a really valid point. The world changers help keep the world balanced.

@psyhe, I haven’t seen that before, so far from what I have read it looks pretty awesome.! Thanks!

@psyhe, Hey, thanks for sharing those links. I didn’t know about VM, it looks interesting! :D

Irina (21) (@psyhe) 8 years, 10 months ago ago

@temillr, @linam , heh, the logo is right here on HighExistence, on the right :D I don’t even know what took me so long to check it out, maybe i’ve just been too caught up with other things.
Anyway, I’m hyper excited about it, to the point that I almost feel like I’m going to explode! :))
Really. It’s just so amazing. If they wouldn’t have come up with this, I think I would have, in a few years…
The way things are right now, it’s not the way life was meant to be. And certainly unacceptable for the 21th century to look like this; so inefficient and with people starving or even just unhappy.

And I’ve felt for some time now that somehow things will take a different direction, and there it is! :)
Be sure to check out their videos, too!

@temillr that’s great that you too have a Great passion for designing books. And you should definitely start that book! Just think all through the process that you want to change others people worlds.

@temillr, for whatever reason, “we” think that if we don’t do something on a grand scale that it won’t make a difference. Perhaps we should get past that. To touch just one other person; to make a difference in that one other person’s life is “enough”. We do not have to touch 10, 100 or 1,000 others to be a difference. We but “need” to realize our true nature and just “be” it – it’s actually quite simple. And if we’re all One, then to affect one person IS to affect all, eh?
