I am a pharmaceutical specialist.
A pill that makes you feel good.
Everyone doesn’t feel right, so why not make a pill that makes everyone feel better?
Heroin makes you feel good, but it has diminishing returns, and its not okay to take heroin.
Our users will die, eventually, or at least a great deal of them.
Morphine? Same deal – diminishing returns. Eventually people get immune to the effects.
How about something, that instead of making dopamine and serotonin flood the brain, we change how the brain perceives it?
Get this; how about we make a drug that causes the brain to lessen its ability to see serotonin, so that even in a shitty situation, where small amounts of dopamine and serotonin are released, the brain actually thinks there is more than there is?
Good. This is great. This would make even mundane tasks palatable.
(Drug gets prescribed. Years go by. People go on and off the pills and drugs, a good profit is made)
Wait, remember that heroin? What if we made our drugs had a withdrawal symptom as bad as heroin, so you literally couldn’t stop taking it? What if we had something that changed the brain’s receptors count, but also caused incredible amounts of withdrawal symptoms?
Holy shit. This is genius.
Not only would people fear the withdrawal symptoms – they may even believe that the withdrawal symptoms are natural. Maybe they would even believe that their original depression has gotten WORSE behind the scenes? Sub consciously?
I think this is ingenious. You need to be promoted.
(Years go by, conversation starts up again between the two)
You know what?
What if you worked for the FDA – You know? What if you literally made the rules on what COULD and COULD NOT enter the pharmaceutical scene?
Yeah. You could tell people that certain things are illegal, they make you dependent, feel too good, they are too ‘drug’-like. You could make it ok to have our stuff though – only our stuff.
You read my mind.
Hey, by the way, I just got some heroin, want to try some?
