the time has come (for this post)
my dear many splendored HEthens,
we wake up, we go through a day, (as Tine said) acquiring a shit-ton of information, and we sleep, and on and on… we learn a lot every moment, every day, till the very last day, the very last moment (thats as far as we know/ can imagine).
while we are doing this, we pick up valuable lessons, through experiences close to our hearts – our Own personal experiences (i am not talking about thought provoking ‘quotes’).
and we may live by these lessons that we have taught ourselves, consciously or subconsciously.
So, what is the most important thing? you can say anything; simple, profound.. – "the most important thing is to smile"/ "it is that there is no most important thing" etc
(this thread is more of free writing than anything – keep that in mind.) and of course, multiple posts are soooo welcome, thank you
^ @Paul, you just summed that up brilliantly. awesome!
here is something i realised some months back: that all we need is change, to make us feel better – and there is no real good/bad. meaning if we stagnate at some level, even if that is after much learning, we’ll still feel shitty. we need constant change in our perspectives.
case in point is this christian friend of mine. he kept trying to convert me. he said he had to make a lot of effort to walk in this path he is now, and he is still transforming everyday. and i thought ‘yea thats it, thats all we need, no mattr what change exactly’
a change from being a Christian to an atheist. an atheist to a christian. an axe murderer to a good human being. king to saint (buddha). nice guy to criminal.
just a thought ..
Connections to other beings! And understanding your patterns in relationships and those of the people around you.. Life is relationships, and they should feel *good* :) We’re only able to be who we truly are if we can show ourselves to others as we are, and if they can see us as who we truly are. Being *you* means *showing yourself*, letting yourself be seen, and for that reason, you need good relationships so that true-showing can happen in a safe and healthy environment. You are good — don’t be afraid to show it!
And of course, there’s so much more, so: good and important is what makes sense *to you* *at this moment of your journey*. Your journey has meaning, and it is your unique story. It should feel good.
take care y’all -paul
yes pata pay attention, that means vigilance at all moments. watch your state of mind, watch your emotions, watch your thoughts, watch everything around you, be aware of how others are feeling and respond accordingly with respect.
being aware. yes.
next one is…..
The most important thing is getting some sleep. Pay attention if you want to, but I’d like to be well rested.
The most important thing is to be content, satisfied and in love with yourself. .
the most important thing is to never worry….98% of the time I worry about something, the thing I’m worrying about won’t have an effect on my life in 10 days, let alone 10 years. Add to this the fact that your existence is but a microscopic mark on the entire earths timeline, what do you have to worry about?
Be happy from within. Love and help your fellow human being. Have no hatred, have no worry. Give more, expect less. Always be learning, growing, experiencing new things. Study and follow your passion. Until you find your passion, keep searching for it. Be the change you want to see in the world. Be you and nothing else, ever. Live in the present and never anywhere else. Meditate every day. Pass it along.
@edwardbernays, this I have found to be incredibly important as well! Though very easy to forget, it’s important to take a step back and reevaluate your place in the world whenever you start worrying about something. Almost always you discover what you’re worrying about is silly and pale in comparison to the big picture.
Another important thing I’ve learned and keet close to my heart is “you are what you love, not what loves you.” This is what I discovered when I was going through a process of learning how to stop caring about what other people think about me. I realized how much time and energy I spent worrying about what other people thought of me or what I did, and discovered how truly irrelevant it is. Learning to focus on what I love, what I’m passionate about has been hard because I’ve been conditioned to care what people think and be submissive in many ways (public school lol), but it’s been worth it and it gives you a inexplicable feeling of purpose and fulfillment! Wow that sounds cliche but its true. You are what you love, NOT what loves you.
Awesome thread with great advice.
Well i dont have much to say other than what i read once in a book (aint sure if Einstein actually said it)
“Life is like a bicycle, if you dont keep moving forward, you fall down”
Aka dont get stuck in the past, dont stay idle either. Always strive to experience new stuff, strive to improve etc, ALWAYS HAVE A GOAL
The moments before you have fun, have fun. the moments before you relax, relax. the moment you intend to solve anything, it is already solved, and you should feel accordingly, or you are missing out. man-up to bullshit, or be bull-shitted. Do not associate good feelings with bad attitudes. code yo’ self.
