Visiting Valhalla

brent (@brentman) 8 years, 9 months ago

Does anyone plan on visiting Valhalla? Or happen to currently be involved with the project?
I doubt I’ll be visiting this year but definitely plan on getting involved at some point. Whether it be next year continuing construction on the community or maybe helping in founding another project somewhere else in the coming years! I believe it’s something incredibly important that every human being should care about.. and I think it’s going to gain some serious momentum!

@brentman, I’d like to go check it out too. My hopes are that this is the real deal, a major step in living without hurting ourselves or our own environment, and not some new-age hippy bullshit.

I don’t intend to become involved directly with Valhalla, but I’m planning to experiment on my own land as much as possible with growing food, using alternative energy, becoming self-sufficient, all of that good junk.

@brentman, Ya I’d love to visit Valhalla. The interaction with humans would be intense.

Or am I imagining things?

@ALEC, haha, well I can guarantee it isn’t “new age hippy BS,” though some will want to write it off as that. That’s awesome about experimenting on your own. I will definitely be doing the same whenever I can. And not really even in an effort to “save the earth..” it’s just so much smarter, healthier, and cheaper in the long-run.

@brentman, @ALEC, I’m a tree-hugger too but not in these clothes.

@danfontaine, i’m not sure what that means, but it sounds nice!

@ALEC, I’m on the same page as those who cuff themselves to trees but I have my own business to attend to. I debate full participation in a community like Valhalla but I am more drawn to abiding within the dysfunction in order to be a statue.

This summer I’m hopefully heading down if I get the money for a ticket.

@brentman I’m seriously considering the full-time move. I need some more information first, but this resonates deeply with me. I love the idea of a community freeing each other from the shackles that we often put on ourselves and leaving its members with no conceivable reasons to not pursue what they love. That is how I want to live.

Ever since the start of my spiritual journey I have void myself of all commitments that would hold me back from pursuing this journey any further. I have a job that allows me to be free, No girlfriend (personal choice)…basically nothing that can hold me back. In this case I have been able to wander and experience new things.

If Jordan and the crew allow it, I would love to go help them start their earthship build and possibly any other endeavor those brave souls are trying to accomplish. I have a lot of respect for that group of people.

I’m in college for the next two to four years… I plan to visit after–if not during a break.

I would like to come up from Toronto to visit some time in May to check things out. I would love a chance to help out in building the earthship. I think that would be a great oppportunity. I have experience as a land surveyor if it helps. Otherwise, I can just work really hard doing something else.

Please do us all a HUGE favor and keep extremely detailed records about how you built the earthship. I would love to see extensive blueprints, construction photos and video, expense reports, tips and advice and anything else that might be relevant to the construction of an earthship. This is something I would like to take on someday without paying through the nose.
