what if your parents had chosen a different place to live, you would have went to a different school, lived in a different town, had different best friends, you would be a totally different person.

It’s always been my opinion that you are the sum of your experiences.
So indeed, different experience = different you.

@nikkihinckley, So what you’re saying is, if everything was different, things would be different? Weird!

Which is philosophically quite interesting as well, when you think about it. Especially if you follow on from what @summer605, mentioned.

People can laugh this off as a rather obvious or trivial point. But the fact that it’s so basic, yet relevant to defining what gives us personality is a great indication of highlighting that we’re really just stuff that reacts to other stuff. We are. Be.

@BryanHellard Okay its obvious, but when you really sit there and think about all the different lives you could be living, that’s whats weird. Thats what i meant by it

@nikkihinckley, It’s a good thing you get to pick your favourite to live in, isn’t it?

life occurs wherever it can occur in any form it may occur, ‘you’ could not be born in a different place, it just would not be you

@nikkihinckley, A fairly common understanding is that we are experiencing all the possibilities of our lives in other dimensions. I don’t believe you would be a different person but you would have a different image of yourself. I believe the only thing that makes you a person is the ability to reason and chose. The rest is just self image.
