Weird quirks or behaviors

tkim (@socoamarettotk) 9 years, 3 months ago

What are some personal quirks or anything about you that might be considered weird?
-Talking/whispering to myself while walking (I promise I don’t do drugs)
-An extension of talking to myself: I practice French and German out loud when I think no one’s there
-I eat everything with a fork & knife (even pizza, burgers, sandiwiches, etc.)
-I hate the taste of watermelon
-I consider myself introverted, but feel the need to be around people a lot
-I can swim but never learned how to tread water (so I am afraid of swimming in the sea)

As I’m waking up in the morning or right before I wake up, I wiggle my toes a lot. It’s just a weird thing and I don’t know why I do it.

I get the numbers 4 and 7 mixed up sometimes for no apparent reason.

I’m pretty sure I’m polyamorous, but I’m also in a committed monogamous relationship.

Those reindeers made up of christmas lights you see on front lawns during that season(especially the moving ones) creep me the fuck out.

I put mustard in tequila shots.

Nice thread.

– I make odd noises (Bird noises, whistles and other Alien type noises) without really knowing I am doing it.
– I am overly-emotional about most things
– I have many stereotypical gay tendencies but am not gay (Most people wonder if I am including family)
– I have no interest in drinking alcohol which most think is strange.
– I talk to myself…
– I love to eat Marmite without anything else. Just on a spoon.

@tangledupinplaid21, Gimme a call when you get out of this relationship

I can eat my desert before dinner and/or eat my desert during dinner, as in I can mix any taste with any taste and eat it (as long as all the tastes I mix together are tasty separately as well)

I can’t stop walking when I talk on the phone or get caught up in a writing idea. I mean if I want to I can, but thoughts just seem to flow so much better when I’m walking. I think it’s because my environment is changing and that stimulates me.

@filipek, there’s always a place in my heart for you after that encouraging comment you left me concerning relapsing and addiction. I still have it in my wallet. <3

Great thread ^.^

I sing-talk sometimes. So when I’m about to finish a sentence, I end it in a tune, although I never really notice until someone points it out :P

I’ll also break into random accents to stress whatever it is that I talking about.

I dont drink alcohol anymore – go clubbing sober, which a lot of my friends find peculiar, cos I’ll act just as drunk as them.

Andrea (21) (@yourefunny) 9 years, 3 months ago ago

@socoamarettotk, I talk to myself too, and also practice French out loud and in my head just to make sure I still have it!

@generaltitsvonchodehoffen
, that actually sounds really good, I love mustard and eat dijon and spicy brown mustard straight out of the bottle

I also stretch a lot, even in inappropriate places. If I need to stretch, then there is no stopping me. And most of the time I have to cover my mouth because my stretching usually comes with loud sighs and groans.

Brandon P’naantan Pinkney (321) (@hlalhabattu) 9 years, 3 months ago ago

-I also have no desire whatsoever to drink alcohol

-I have a habit of making very odd faces, unbeknownst to myself a lot of the time

-every time I try to jog, I just end up skipping instead

-I am also apt to adopt strange accents to stress a point, or just whenever I talk anyway

-if I’m “not feeling” a party/environment etc. I’ll just leave without telling anyone, or at most say I’m going for a walk, which more often than not ends with me going home

-I’m a pretty patient person, but have absolutely none when it comes to arguments, so on the rare occasion I get into an argument with someone, I will more often than not end up releasing a long stream of non-sequiturs or just walk away and say I don’t care…which confuses and/or pisses people off.

– I have never, nor do I currently see the point or appeal of politics

– when I bump into something, regardless of whether or not it actually hurts, I will say ow

-very rarely do I stand still, I’m usually swaying

-for reasons I can’t begin to understand, I cringe whenever I hear the word much

Nice thread!
-I talk to myself in english sometimes without even realizing it (my native tongue is german)
-I need to smell a book before I can read it
-I’m scared of climbing, but not of heights in general
-When i’m alone I’ll sometimes spontaniously start acting out a scene from a book I’m working on and pretend I’m one of my characters (I swear I get the best ideas that way lol)
-I open the fridge until it starts beeping at me and I realize I’m not even hungry, just bored
-When I cook I like to turn up the radio and dance while I burn half the food…
Okay that was the most random post, I sound like the weirdest person ever!

Stephani (176) (@dancingscyphozoa) 9 years, 2 months ago ago

@doblearcoiris I also walk around when I’m on the phone. I usually stop walking when the person on the other line starts talking so I can hear them better but when I’m talking I go all over the place and i have no idea why.

I LOVE JARS!!
-I also can’t focus on lectures unless I’m taking notes and working on something else that uses my hands (sewing, weaving bracelets etc.)
-The taste and texture of eggs used to make me gag but I forced myself to get over that and actually enjoy them now.
-I groan when I move in my sleep
-I used to sing in my sleep
-I make weird mumbling noises when I’m having conversations in my dreams
-I argue with myself over what I want to eat and then usually decide I’m not hungry.
-I have a weird thirst for knowledge on anything to do with genetics, neuroscience and psychology
-I love the way my toes and hands feel when I move them.

-I find myself having fewer and fewer personal preferences, e.g. instead of criticizing music that I once deemed ‘bad’, I find myself now appreciating it just for existing. It’s difficult to explain.

-Although enjoyable, I find myself not needing any human contact. I am perfectly content being by myself, this makes friendships difficult to maintain as I usually forget to contact them for months at a time

-I find certain types of pain enjoyable. Not necessarily sexual, but I love taking cold showers or pushing myself especially hard in the gym.

Chase (21) (@chaselang19) 9 years, 2 months ago ago

@filipek, Im the same way with tastes. Everyone thinks its weird. I have even tried putting my whole dinner in the blender then drinking it. Not something I would too many more times but it wasnt bad at all. Tasted great, same as when I was eating it solid. The texture after being blended is what messed me.

[Hidden]
Bee (65) (@rainclouder) 9 years, 2 months ago ago

@hlalhabattu, I am also a victim of the “ow factor.” People can poke me or bump into me and I automatically say it

@drakonerythros
, I know what you mean about liking pain. This might be totally out of left field, but have you ever had a feeling like you want to pull out your teeth (or wiggle them around)?

I stretch my arms behind my back (clasping them behind me and stretching upwards) about three to ten times per 75 minute class

Sometimes I will also, “talk” to myself (like many others apparently, which makes me feel better, thanks @yourefunny, @socoamarettotk) As in I’ll have a two-sided argument or pep talk about something

I like to feel things. All of the things. And I wander off, which is sort of related, because I guess both are because I’m overly curious compared to the people I know

Also, I don’t really have a lot of friends (meaning I hang out and talk to one and a half people one-on-one outside of school) I’m not sure why, I just don’t. Possibly because I like to listen more than I like to talk, so a lot of people don’t know me very well

yoinkie (1,498)C (@yoinkie) 9 years, 2 months ago ago

@tangledupinplaid21, That is so weird, I wiggle my toes for like, 5 minutes before I go to sleep. I dont even know why I do it, they just go off.

@drakonerythros
, All good stuff right there, I am the same way on all three points.

@hlalhabattu
, much. Much. MUCH.

– If Im alone, Ill make a song about any task im doing. I dont sing, nor am I good at rhyming, so usually its just “Now im cooking. ohhh look at me cook, cutting up these carrotsss.”

– A sure fire way of me realizing I’m high is that I start dancing, or atleast moving my limbs. There doesnt even need to be any music, really.

– I can not liter. Not that I dont want to(I dont want to really), but its literally impossible for me to do so. If I do accidentally liter, my ADD goes haywire and I cant think or focus on anything except the liter. I’ve had to pull my car over(someone in my car liters, or I accidentally do) on many occasions because of this little issue.

– If I have music, I can sit down and stare off into the abyss for hours on end. This isnt really a quirk, but a lot of my friends have commented on it, so I guess it is in some way. I dont really need to be moving or doing something constantly, I am simply at peace and enjoy looking at things for extended periods of time.

– I dont read the last page of a book until a few weeks after I’ve read the rest of it. I have a terrible fear of finishing books. Its just so…sad, ends suck.

@hlalhabattu
, much

I don’t like to fart. I crack my toes several times for no reason. I hate wet paper. I love the thought of people. I suck at looking people in the eye. I don’t blame myself for anything. I don’t blame others for anything. I love the smell of wood. I don’t drink alcohol. I don’t like the thought of earning a degree. I love to be alone. I’ll voluntarily miss meals in order to continue listening to music. I consider music my best friend. I believe in silence. I’m afraid to have sex. I’m afraid to remain a virgin. I believe that respect is earned. I believe that peace is neither positive nor negative. I believe that existence is at best neutral. I believe that my dog tries to talk to me through his eyes. I’m in love with the thought of love. I’ll wear something uncomfortable if I like the way it looks on me. I believe that hair is a distraction. I believe that beauty is a curse. I believe that ugliness is a blessing in disguise. I do not believe in answers. I avoid arguments as best I can. I’d rather type than talk. I love holding hands. I’m afraid to kiss. Sometimes I consider myself a bitch. Sometimes I consider myself a genius.

@yoinkie, what does much mean?!?

-I love the smell of fresh books, I have literally spent entire hour and a half long classes smelling them

-I also love the smell of freezers.

-I love dragging my nails across chalkboards

-it is not uncommon for me to make strange animal noises out of nowhere

@rainclouder, When I still had my baby teeth, I loved wiggling them around. It didn’t really bother me.

– When I hear birds chirping, sometimes I smile.
– The sound of paper rubbing against paper makes me shiver.
– I talk to my plants when I water them.
– After I read a book, I like to sit in a dimly lit room and create a “movie” in my head, tweaking it here and there.
– Every morning when I leave, I tap my cat lightly on the nose after I scratch under his chin.
– I have very little interest in romantic relationship and sex. Most people I know think I’m asexual.
– On the other hand, I have a thing for Russian accents. (Number six doesn’t apply here.)
– I don’t particularly like kids. They’re alright if they’re well-behaved, but that doesn’t mean I want to spend a lot of time around them.
– Both the smell and taste of alcohol make me gag.
– My bedroom has to be “lived in.” That is, the right balance between “OCD-clean”
and cluttered.
– Social experiments. (For example, I like to see if people treat me differently when I act and/or look a certain way.)
– I love to take things apart and see how they work.
– People watching.
– Devising schemes.
– A significant amount of my time is spent self-teaching.

@tangledupinplaid21, I sometimes mix up 4 and 7 too.

@hlalhabattu
Yours made me laugh because I do a few of those things too. Skipping is pretty great :D

– I really dislike being tickled, yet my natural reaction is laughter…it’s a very confusing time.

– my favourite smells are wood paint and damp stone.

@yoinkie, this is why I love high existence, haha. I’m not alone!

tkim (24) (@socoamarettotk) 9 years, 2 months ago ago

@Dafunks, I get over emotional about certain things to. Annoying as fuck but it’s just how I am, can’t really control it.

@doblearcoiris
, Haha that’s a great one, I walk around a lot when I’m on the phone. When I’m on the phone sitting down I feel oddly trapped and sometimes find it hard to think properly or find the right words to say…its very distracting

@dream7er
, I have been living in the US for 5 years now (I’m from Brazil) and have pretty much lost hope in resisting English. I am starting to think more in English than in Portuguese, and when I go back home I often forget certain Portuguese words but remember them in English. It’s actually kinda depressing.

@conpassione, I love people watching! Part of why I love using the subway is because I get to observe people.

[Hidden]
Anonymous (2,833) (@) 9 years, 2 months ago ago

@conpassione, I’m not much for romance or sex either. They’re ok, but its like, a piece of chocolate or the smell of flowers can be just as rewarding and it doesn’t take as long.

Social experiments too… I’m obsessed with them. My poor girlfriend gets the brunt end of all of them. Often I like to see how interested / angry / or intrigued people are about a subject by constantly diverting it and seeing if they correct it back or not.

-If people want me to say something, I will NOT say it. I will just not say it. If my girlfriend or my friends want me to make a decision, and have made it obvious that they want me to say answer b I will NOT say choice b. Drives people nuts.
-If I smell flowers, I get very, very high. Its not a joke. It started as a joke, that I would smell flowers and get happy, but now its serious. If I have a rose, I will pick it off the bush, crush it up in my hand and smell it for 15 minutes, laughing hysterically on the ground well beyond the point of tears and my stomach hurting. Same with floral-scented soaps and candles.
-I hate when girls wear gigantic sunglasses.
-I like people watching people watchers
-I hate when people use more than 4 periods in a row when they write on the web
-I fucking hate when sharp metal touches the edge of my finger nails
-I wear 2 different colored socks every day
-My girlfriend likes taking showers together cause, yeah, I like taking them together cause we conserve water lol
-I love the sound of electric industrial motors humming god i fucking love that sound, or a very distant helicopter. Or beeping in the distance, like a tractor backing up.
