Westboro Baptist Church, Is this really what God wanted?

if you don’t know anything about the Church and their work, check out the link above. YouTube it if you’d like to see more. I had a hard time listening to what they had to say, because it broke my heart and made me sick to my stomach. However, I’m trying to be more open minded to the situation, and maybe a different opinion would help. Although, I highly doubt they are right in the way they act in any way at all.

@messimade, Everything is here because it was allowed to be here. If it wasn’t then it wouldn’t be here would it? Who says that there’s some ‘god’ that says “oh shit, I shouldn’t have let them exist”? The people that say god hates fags are really just saying “I hate fags, but lets place the blame on some fake guy in the sky”.

@splashartist, I agree with everything except for the last sentence. They believe he is 100% real.

I can’t stand to hear them talk. However, this was very interesting. Also got points for russel brand.

@flyingrhino, Yea i’m aware that they believe its true, but really its just a way to mask their subconscious homophobia. A christian can still believe in god and follow their religion without believing all homo’s should be condemned to hell.

@splashartist, actually, these people consider christians who do so “fag-enablers” and that they will also be sent to hell for accepting homosexuality. And although I do believe that they are very wrong for doing what they do, I can’t help but wonder what causes someone to be so close minded to the point where what God says just .. goes. and that his opinion is the only thing that counts for anything.

That’s why I’m christian and still think that the majority of churches are fucked up, unfortunately.

@messimade, My point is, PEOPLE wrote the bible, people make these rules. Not god (well depending on your definition of god). ” and that his opinion is the only thing that counts for anything.” I’ve yet to see some guy come down from the clouds and tell his opinions to people. Again, It depends what you believe god to be though, because say if you believe that god is everyone then god’s opinion is really everyone’s opinion. PEOPLE MADE THE RULES THAT HOMO’S ARE SINNERS AND SHOULD GO TO HELL. Therefore, its underlying homophobia, not some ‘divine’ rule.
Then again, I know shit all so take my words with a grain of salt.

They just want attention, which is exactly what posts like these give them.

@messimade, I’m torn on the general issue of forcing views on people. I mean, I don’t think this church should be acting the way they do, because it seems like it’s people whose entire lives are based on negativity, people who have made hate their main purpose in life. I don’t think someone should go around forcing their religion by you, because they don’t own you, you are free to make your own choices. Same with how Sharia is forced on people, I don’t think it’s right. But at the same time, there are things in our society which I think are bad things made by bad people for the sake of making money by exploiting people’s weaknesses and shortcomings, and I don’t think that’s right either. I’m referring to stuff like fast food, cigarettes, strip clubs, and pornography. But if I were in charge and tried to take those away, they’d probably try to cite that they are free, just like I said we should be free of religious tyrants. It’s a complicated issue. How does one deal with freedom of speech, when it protects negative things as well as positive ones?

@ballsackturtles23, l will agree that this post is giving them attention. However, it’s negative attention. Although they do recieve a lot of that as it is, they obviously haven’t recieved enough for them to stop. Things like this going on in the world need attention and need to be stopped. If someone were to have knowledge of this and keep it to themselves, they then would just be allowing it to happen.

They used to wind me up a lot, but I’ve come to realise that actually those people are living in a hell of their own creation. Each day on this earth must me torture for them being. Being filled with such hatred, anger and fear is not healthy for anyone, nor does it bring happiness to everyone.
So now, I just really feel sorry for them.

The way I see it is they take a lesser law, (paraphrased) “men who lay with men as a man lays with a woman is a detestable thing to God” and they are placing more importance on it than what they are on the one true identifying mark of a Christian, Jesus said (paraphrased) “And a New Covenant I am commanding unto you, love each other as I have loved you, all will know that you are my disciples if you do this, have love for one to another”
